Great game and atmosphere. Scott Co. has a nice facility, could have used a couple of more exits for traffic after the game. For the game itself, Mason should have won if they could have hit their free throws and not forced bad passes in the opening quarter, though Scott Co.'s defense and intensity at the begining had alot to do with that. Wish the boys and girls would have sat at the same benches for both games, made sitting close to your cheering section a little difficult. Luckully, the Scott Co. fans I sat next to were first class!:ylsuper:

I thought Fred Hester retired a year or two ago. Steve Appleman is listed on all official papers as the AD at Mason Co. Wonder what wool Mason Co. is pulling over some eyes on some state regulations? Besides, if the KHSAA hadn't screwed with the districts and regions in their infinite wisdom, the schools from Northern KY would still be in the 9th Region where they belong and Fleming Co., Bath Co. and possibly Lewis Co. would be in the 10th Region where they belong!

What has hurt the 39th District over the last 15 to 20 years and to Mason Co.'s advantage has been the consolidation with Maysville, the closing of Tollesboro, and the moving of Fleming Co. out of the district and region last year. Used to be some very interesting draws and upsets when it was a five team district.

I am in favor of a 35 second clock, but let's change the rules on 3-pointers and dunking. Get rid of that, and you might be surprised by the decrease in poor shot selection, showing off, and increase in assists and an all around fundemental play. Too many kids missing from 10 ft. in because they haven't been taught to use the backboard and they can hit all day long from behind the arc while being guarded, but can't hit their free throws when the game is on the line and no one is guarding them.

I know Chris Lofton is the all time leading scorer at Mason Co, surpassing Ronnie Lyons, but from watching both of them play, I have to give the edge to Lyons. He was shorter and had to play against bigger guards and I would say that 90% of his shots came from behind the 3 point line, if it existed back when he played, which means Chris wouldn"t come close to breaking his scoring record if they both had played under the same rules. Watched him score 60 one night against Bath Co. at the Fieldhouse and hit a half-court hook shot from in front of the scorer's table in the district finals against Maysville while being double-teamed. MCPAPA should remember those moments as well.:thumb:

I have been attending the 10th Region Tournament since about 1968, and the Fieldhouse just gives the tournament a little extra something in March. But when the 40Th District gets to vote again I'm sure Montgomery will get a shot to host it. But, if attendance is down and therefore the main factor "MONEY" goes down significantly, then i am guessing Montgomery will have a hard time persuading schools to vote for them a second time, reguardless of the issue of fairness of Mason hosting every year. Also, if someone from the Northern KY area could answer if and when the new NKU arena is finished, if they will deduct rent from the total money pot, if the tourny gets played once on a trial basis there? Also, how will schools feel about splitting that money with NKU? And does the 16th Region give MSU a cut and WKU gets a cut of the 4th? This hasn't been mentioned and I was just wondering how this works?

Alternative Directions: Go up U.S. 23 to Cattletsburg, head west on I-64 and get off at Grayson exit. Turn right off exit, take a left at second light, this will put you on the Grayson-Vanceburg leg of the AA Highway. Follow to the end and turn left, Maysville will be about 35 miles to your west. When you get to the intersection of AA Highway and Maple Leaf Road turn right at the light, (NOTE: You'll see a Suzuki motorcycle dealer and the new Lowe's construction site on the left of this intersection.) after turning right, back entrance to the football field will be about a mile and a half on your left. I have read and followed this site for a long time, but have very few posts as everyone can see, but I have some questions for the more experienced on this site: 1. How can OJ have one year of elegibilty left and Walker none when at the end of lastseason it was stated they would both be back for their SENIOR season at NCH? 2. Will the coach at HHS allow OJ's Advisor to attend practices and interfere with what he is trying to do with the program as a whole? 3. Will the AD and Coach at HHS do the same as the LeBron show several years ago and take this team to larger arenas and force parents, relatives, and fans of the teammates of OJ & Co. and the opposing teams to pay 10 to 15 dollars minimum for tickets when they usually pay an average of about 5 for the right to see their sons play high school ball? 4. Why would OJ go 1 year to college when he would be better served by going to the NBDL or Europe for a year and get paid? 5. Last but not least, would high schoolers be better served if athletic associations tightened their rules on elegibility by passing rules against some of the things that go on in AAU circles,(you can only play for 1 team only each year within a 50 mile radius of home, the team has to be in the state you go to high school in, coaches must be registered with state HSAA, ect.). I'am not trying to stir up anything, but i'am just asking some, what I feel are logical questions.

Megan played sparingly this summer because they didn't want to take any chances on her knees. She hit her first shot at Harrison Co. then they took her right out of the game, they continue do that she'll never get into any rythum. Also the defense at guard this year will be a big issue. Because of her knees, Megan has problems keeping her man from going around her and the two starters at guard have their own share of problems keeping their men in front of them. This is just one of many areas they need to improve on.

It's my understanding that they haven't lost a game yet this summer. They defeated Harrison Co., Paris, and Fleming Co. a couple of weeks ago over at Harrison Co. Then went undefeated at home this past Friday and Saturday. There last game on Saturday against Eastern Brown, OH they were down by 9 or 11 at the half and came back to win by 4 or 5.

The Royals shot 1 of 10 from 3 point land. Middleton hit the only 3 in the 3rd qtr. But this wasn't the difference in the game. Clark manhandled them all night.

The "Pool" at Fleming, played there in the early 70's. Had to climb ladders to get in and out of the place and dress in a dungeon underneath. Pretty bad for the visitors.
