Big loss for the Fleming Co. basketball and football programs.

I have never been a fan of seeding, love blind draws because sometimes an underdog may make it to the regional tournament. I would like to see the KHSAA either make all districts seed or blind draw. Make it one way across the board, this evens the playing field somewhat, one rule or method for everyone. The original point of this thread was to see if Mason Co. was or had been moved that the competion from Clark and Montgomery would have made the administration more aware of defisencies in their girls athletic teams and would have forced them to make changes sooner than later or not at all. Competeing against these schools and their facilities might have caused pressure to become proactive toward needed coaching changes, off-season conditioning, scheduling at the middle school level, adding sports(volleyball-girls, wrestling-boys) playing fields and practice facilities etc. I am not only talking basketball, but softball and soccer too. If Mason Co. hadn't won 6 or 7 district titles in a row, but knocked out of distict in the first round a few times then I think the admiistration would have been forced by the parents, fans, and success of the boys program to step it up a notch.

If Mason Co. plays defense the way we know they can they can beat GRC if they don't learn to handle the pressure any better than they did tonight. And if they meet on a neutral floor in March anything can happen. But come March, I am sure GRC will be better handling the pressure defense than what was displayed tonight. Will make for good conversation and some excellent basketball throughout this season.

Clark Co. shot 37% tonight to Scott Co.'s 50%. Turnovers were just about even, I think 15 for GRC and 12 for Scott Co.

But not very well, Scott Co. defense played him well, also looked like he was trying to press too much and got trapped several times dribbling into double teams. Rogers looked pretty good though, he tried to pick up his teammates.

Heard the PA announcer say Phares got a double double didn't hear the numbers though.

Shots aren't falling, over penetration off the dribble, just didn't look good tonight.

Actually this part of the discussion was talked about and geographics wasn't as high a priority as evening out the districts, however there is only one other alternative debated, Mason, Montgomery, Clark, and Harrison in the 40th and Nicholas, Paris, Bourbon and Pendleton in the 37th. The reason geography is sacrifised is because these teams all travel to each others gyms on a regular basis and the maximum drive one way is 45 min. to 1 hr. depending on routes taken and driving habits.

Campbell Co. brings a 4 and 1 record to the Fieldhouse Friday night. Mason Co. hasn't won a game, but has lost 3 games by a total of 8 points. Hopefully the girls will get their first win of the year, but I feel Campbell brings more experience and wins by 6 to 8 points.

Was having this discussion with some friends who put girls through the Mason Co. athletics dept. and thought I would put it on here. Before we get started let me state this is not being considered or is it going to take place, (as far as I know) and is just being put out here for thoughts and what if's. Here goes, what if Mason Co. had been moved to the 40th District, about 4 to 5 years ago. Would the region be more balanced, would the 39th be more balanced, would some changes have occured at Mason Co. to make it more competitive with Clark and Montgomery Cos. in girls athletics? The reason we are using the girls side is because the discussion centered around our daughters as we had no sons to deal with and boys athletics. The only changes as far as re-districting was Deming to the 39th along with St. Patrick, Augusta, and Bracken Co. The 40th District would have Clark, Montgomery, Mason and Nicholas Co. The 37th would be Boubon, Paris, Harrison and Pendleton, and the No. KY schools would make up the 38th District. From everyone I've talked to, the 39th without Mason Co. would be better balanced and more even. Well, let the games begin!:confused::fight::argue::sssh::flame:

Listened to the last quarter, Holmes in my book is the best team today in the state and like someone previously stated polls are for fans and writers to talk and argue about until tournament time. But being a UK fan and agreeing with so many others on here, Euton is good ballplayer, but not the type of ballplayer that BCG is trying to load up on. I have seen him play once, and he looks like he is running in sand. Also, being he verbally committed and there is no signed LOI yet, it will be very easy to offer one of those preferred walk-on positions and pull the scholly offer. This particular scholarship should go to Pittman or even maybe Henderson, since BCG was talking with him at the game. Should be a great season of high school hoops no matter who is number one right now.:thumb:

Two good wins back to back. Was worried about today because of St. X's size, but we held tough and pulled out the win. We may not beat GRC and Scott Co. this year but I feel a little more confident we can give them a good run for their money.:thumb:
