McDonald is more skilled than Wilson right now but Wilson is just as big but stronger and more athletic. McDonald may win the battle tonight but Wilson has huge upside and is younger. In a few years it will be great to watch.

It's true. Almost 40 before the end of the third quarter and HC was playing a match up zone and NC pressed much of the game. Terribly lopsided officiating.

A few weeks ago some people were implying the birds would fit right in with the GCL. Now's the chance to see by playing more than one during the season. Unfortunately Colerain may not even have a team next year if their levy doesn't pass next week.

Based on some of the comments on here a few weeks ago HHS is ready to play more OH teams. Maybe this opening will give the Birds the chance to schedule and additional team from North of the river.

I apologize, I have my threads confused. In the "Significance of the Highlands/Elder game" thread Sports Fan and Stinkboy both asked if the number two team in the state of KY was as good as the 6-7 in the state of Ohio.

I agree with you. No doubt in my mind. The difference is that there are mixed messages on this thread. Early on some posters implied they could be a top 6-7 team in the entire state regardless of size. This isn't going to happen. If you stick to the idea of playing in DIII then it's a whole different story and I agree with you.

Personally I think the birds overachieve given the size of their school. There is no doubt about it. They are one of the top 5 teams in the state regardless of size year in and year out. One of the best traditions in the state and building on it each year. And yes, they have held their own each year against an Cincinnati based team. I don't think this translates to them being able to compete in the GCL or the entire state of OH as some have implied for a full year schedule. At some point the size of the school and the grind of doing it each week will catch up to them. They can however play with them one game at a time here and there and have proven that year in and year out.

Wrong, then why do many gcl teams seem to play teams like Trinity and Indianapolis Cathederal? Can't be because it's an easy win.

Yes, there is a big disparity.

They play the last game of the year which should be next weekend. That sets up to be a really good game.

If anyone can't get enough HS football and wants something to do on Saturday and is looking for a benchmark for OH teams, the #1 team in the state (St. Ignatius) is coming to town to play X on Saturday afternoon. Probably won't end well for X but should be fun to see Ignatius play.

I have seen all of the GCL and a few others. IMO Moeller is the most over rated of the entire group. Blown out by X and beat by Elder. Totally over rated. X is too inconsistent to be top 5. Colerain is the only team in Cincy that I think most people would say is a unanimous top 5 team.

Elder is a good team but maybe not the 6-7 best team in their region, let alone the state. They are fighting to get into the playoffs. If you want to say 6-7 in Cincy then fine but not the state.
