  1. No way does Montgomery ever get moved from the 10th.
  2. Ashland and Elliott have to be favored, although I am still not ready to count Russell out.
  3. I agree that it will be a close game and anybody can win.
  4. Actually they played three times. Elliott won by 2 in the EKC at Sandy Hook a few days before East beat Elliott.:thumb:
  5. Not paranoia...It goes back to the three team district they were allowed to keep forever. The original plan was to move a team from a five team district in the 10th Region into the 16th, but Rowan's protectors on the Board of Control voted that down. It stayed a 3 team until finally the 4th was moved in. Hopefully Fleming or Bath will come up with some talent they can keep and at least make the District more than the Viking Invitational. Menifee appears to be a lost cause.
  6. I am not big on conspiracy theories, but this district has been set up and tailor made for Rowan to be in the regional ever since Breck shut down. Every time a change was suggested over the years the KHSAA shot it down, until it was decided to ship out Morgan County and add powerful Fleming County. Then it was acceptable. Funny that happened right when Morgan was giving Rowan County fits every year.
  7. Rowan once again wins the weakest district in the region and maybe the state:sleep:  Big surprise.
  8. What is the story on that? If true it really shows the character of that particular coach:fight: :fire:
  9. Elliott's coach doesn't have the best of records in District Championship games, but this year's team is playing well right now and should win this one. I think it will a close game though. Baker is a good coach and will have his team ready to play. If Burge shoots well and they control the tempo they will be right in it. I look for East to get as physical as possible. It should be a good game.
  10. They split close games at Elliott before Christmas and Elliott won in a blowout later at East Carter. When these two teams play anything can happen regardless of the regular season scores.
  11. With Hampton in and Vanhoose out, who knows? I think the other Devils are still talented and athletic enough to make a deep run.
  12. I have said all year that I thought Rose Hill would contend this year in spite of youth and they did contend, compiling a very nice record. With their crop of freshmen and under and Elliott's crop of sophmores and under, the next few years may produce a slight power shift to two of the region's smaller schools. Congrats to Pratt and Boyd for advancing. I can think of no more deserving coach.
  13. What a great player with a great career in our Region. I wish him nothing but the best in his recovery and future at Evansville.
  14. Looks like Rowan County moves on in the Rowan County Invitational...I mean the 61st.
  15. Jackson spent a summer playing AAU ball with Elliott kids. He is a tremendous kid and I think the experience served him well in a close game like this.
  16. I couldn't agree more. The time out with less than a minute was odd too. I thought maybe they were setting up a 19 point play, but I guess it was just to get some subs in.
  17. Russell is just too strong...but make Old Rambler happy and pull out a 1 point win on a three at the buzzer.
  18. West won as expected, but I think Elliott's coaches and players have earned some respect this year. I am amazed by the improvement over last season. mThey really came out strong and took it to West early in the game and kept in striking distance for most of the game. Elliott's coaches deserve recognition for the difference they are making in that program.
  19. Hampton does it again. He is the master of getting the most from his team when it counts.
  20. West was simply no match for Elliott without Hollingsworth. The guards couldn't handle the pressure defense, Elliott played well and would have won with or with Hollingsworth. I wish he could have played in his final game. He is a good kid who made a mistake. Elliott's defensive pressure right from the opening tip was the difference. The Lions also shot 47% from the field and 80% from the line. They were 5-11 on three pointers. Hard to beat on this night.
  21. I do not know about the other schools, but Rose Hill dropped Elliott from their schedule last season forcing Elliott to locate a late replacement game. Don't put Elliott in the group "ducking" Rose Hill. Elliott played them every year through the Mayo times. The Royals ended that scheduling relationship.
  22. Has anyone else got the word that a key West Carter player has been suspended for tonight's game? I got it from a reliable source within the school system, but have not heard anything made public.
  23. Good poll again. Right on the mark all year.
  24. Russell outplayed and outcoached Elliott and won the game. Both teams played decent defense. Russell shot better. They are bigger and stronger and if Elliott doesn't shoot the ball well, they get beat. Good win for Russell. As of right now it means nothing. Monday starts the "real thing." I hope these two teams meet again in the finals. It promises to be a great game. Congrats to Russell on a good win. If Elliott coaches put the players through a tough practice this late in the season, I hope they had a good reason. Mays has done that stuff before late in the season and hurt his team. I think these kids are strong-willed enough to get through it and make a good run in the tournament.
  25. Well deserved honor. Easily the best in our region.
