  1. Didn't Danny Cornett score 80 in a game for Breckinridge in the early 1960's? This may take some of us old timers to remember.
  2. He is a load inside, but that is going a little too far. Anyway, this is not the pace of a game in which he will have a big impact. I agree he will score and rebouond, but if Elliott is successful in pushing the pace of play, he will not be a factor in the outcome.
  3. Raceland played well the 1st half. They also shot lights out from the three point line. Elliott looked a little sluggish and took some ill advised shots early. However, their defense picked them in the third quarter with a few quick steal leading to easy baskets and the rout was on. I don't think the Elliott team is feeling too "cocky." They seem to know where their weaknesses have been so far and keep working on improving those areas. We are all aware their will be some fierce competition inside the region as the season goes along.
  4. As much as some of us like to write him off as an interloper, he was by far the best talent in this region in the past 25 years.
  5. At the end it was either the senior sub, Maynard, or the freshman, Knipp. I guess they went with the freshman for experience. Did not really matter at that point.
  6. Fleming beats Russell 21-18, Elliott wins by 25+, the rest should be good games.
  7. I can understand better than most, but I hate to hear that.
  8. Ferguson does everything well. If his shot is not falling, he is one of the unusual players that just works harder at the other aspects of the game. One of the hardest working high school players I have ever watched.
  9. Ferguson had his 2nd foul in the second quarter and did not get any more. Evan had 3, and Ethan and T. Knipp also had 2. Of course he, and others sat out a portion of the 4th quarter. They were up 40-50 points. Part of it may be that when Elliott gets way ahead and sends in subs early, Ferguson plays the only position that the Centers kid is able to play. The 2 JV guards are weak ball handlers.
  10. He played a fine game. Elliott got in foul troouble in the 1st half and he is the last guy you want to lose to fouols late in the game. The second half turned into a blowout. He is Elliott's leading scorer and will get his shots and points. He came out after halftime and was instumental in starting the blowout run.
  11. Sounds like somebody is trying to stir the pot. Elliott has won every game by 40+. Starter's minutes get limited in those games. Additionally fouls added some bench time against Morgan County. Ferguson is a great player and is playing extemely well right now. There is not a problem.
  12. What a classy, and true post. They are tough competitors and fine young men.
  13. Congratulations to a great player and a better young man.
  14. Ugly 1st half. West wasn't really looking to score and way too many fouls.(33-19) Elliott starting scoring off its defense and hitting the 3-ball in the 3rd quarter and blew it wide open. Ferguson had tough time getting outside shot to go in the 1st half,(3 straight 3 pointers went in and out), but it started falling for him in the second half. I really don't think Elliott expects to put up 100+ all the time. The first two teams they played wanted to run with them for some reason. That will occur less and less as the season goes on. This was a good win for Elliott as they faced a team trying to do what most will do this season. Ethan Faulkner makes this team go and the addition of a stronger Knipp to go with Ferguson gives Elliott the inside game they need. The fact that Knipp and Ferguson can shoot the long ball only makes it tougher for a team to defend them with a big man. Evan Faulkner's defense was also a key in getting Elliott going after a slow start.
  15. I am not ready to say what style they will play with after one game, but I know they are better off playing a slower tempo with Elliott County. They do not have enough depth to run with Elliott for the whole game. Not many teams in this area do.
  16. I guess you are right. The team that has made itself better should not look to score. They should just stand there and pass the ball around so they will not hurt anybody's feelings. Teams getting beaten that bad should spend a little less time whining and more time at practice.
  17. They have only played one game. Relax. Rose Hill is going to be very good. Elliott has the target on its back, but all this early season praise means nothing, and I think those kids know it.
  18. You have got to be kidding! This is a joke. Sometimes teams are mismatched and blowouts occur. Winning by 30 is not running up the score and in a couple of games I have watched this year, a team won by 50+ and was not running up the score. Everybody played and played hard. One team is sometimes that much better than the other in that given year.
  19. You gotta love Rex, but he definitely gets in the way of play at Fairview and the refs do nothing to stop it. Besides possibly interfering with play, it would appear to a safety issue for the players on both teams and Rex.
  20. How can anyone guess a score in this one? Greenup can't stop anybody, but Russell can't outscore their football team. Either 28-27 or 228-227.
  21. I'm sorry, but I just don't see that much talent. They do have some shooters, but no one plays defense or rebounds well, and the ballhandling and team speed do not exist. Maybe I missed something, but Greenup's talent levelas a whole seems to be down this year. It is difficult to play the tempo they are trying to play with poor rebounding and ballhandling and no defensive pressure.
  22. I am afraid Morgan County may be in for a long season.
  23. Rose Hill has great talent with the top two and I am sure the supporting cast will develop as the season moves along. This will become one of the better teams in the region before toournament time and that is what really matters.
  24. Good rankings! Elliott's numbers will, of course, drop because most teams will not choose to attempt to run with them and the competition on the schedule will get better. That being said, those two games were quite impressive offensively and defensively. The execution and passing were excellent and defensive pressure led to a ton of fast break layups.
