  1. Good players rise to the occasion against good teams in tough situations. Ferguson, Ethan and Evan have done just that in this tournament no matter what happens from here. It is fun to see an Elliott County team making a little noise in a big venue!
  2. I think Elliott's players adjusted well. Physical play certainly wasn't the problem. That plays into Elliott's hands and they dealt with it. The problem from two of the officials was simply consistency in their calls. The third official did a good job allowing the kids to play the same way on both ends of the floor. I think in the long run of the tournament, if Bluegrass officials allow physical play by both teams, Elliott could be better off.
  3. Only 11 points from the rest of the team. That needs to change, but it doesn't look too promising.
  4. :thumb: That is exactly what I was trying to say. There have been many, many "sure things" watching the State Tournament in March. All it takes is one bad game or bad injury to derail any team.
  5. Good recovery for the Royals. The 16th is doing pretty well all around in the holiday torneys.
  6. Elliott did not play their best game of the season but simply wore North Oldham down as has been the patter so far this year for Elliott. The hacking comments are starting to get really old. Elliott has very quick, active hands that create havoc for the other team's ballhandlers. North Oldham had exactly one foul called the whole first quarter and it was a charging foul. No complaints with the fouls called on Elliott. They were legitimate. The complaint is the lack of fouls being called on North Oldham, which also played a pretty physical game. I don't think I will complain about 16th region officiating nearly as much. Ferguson was completely unstoppable last night and the Faulkners did a good job all around as usual. Timmy Knipp looked afraid to do much after two quick fouls put him on the bench early and never really got untracked. The ball pressure for Elliott changed the game, but the interior defense needs to drastically improve tonight when they face a 6-10 post player. Still another great win for the 16th region, which has done pretty well in the holiday tournaments overall.
  7. I'm not a Rose Hill fan, but as a fan of small schools and the 16th Region I woulf love to see them stay put. The rest of the team should develop and make them a regional contender very soon. I still haven't counted out this season yet.
  8. I really and truly hope he tries to steal some minutes for the starters, but in his 150 years of coaching he hasn't done it yet.
  9. That kind of thinking will get a team beat real quick and I am certain the Elliott County team is taking nothing for granted!
  10. Let's not get those rumors started without some substantiation.
  11. I have no idea who will eventually win the tournament, and I am not picking Elliott County to win the tournament, but I will be real surprised if they get blown out by anybody.
  12. Once again the Cubster hits it right on the head. Bath will continue to move up and unless Ashland picks it up a bit, I think the will be dropping a few spots. Rose Hill also needs to find another scoring option or they will turn out to be a highly overrated team. I was one who thought they would become the second best team in the Region, but I am beginning to have serious doubts.
  13. Elliott would have gotten 4 shots in the first minute...and probably have made 3 of them!:banana:
  14. Congrats to Rex and the Eagles. The 16th is doing well in some of these tourneys.
  15. Good win for West Carter...a tough team that seems to play hard all the time.
  16. I understand. I also don't know of a team in this region (16th) with enough ball handling skills or patience to run a Princeton style offense.
  17. Fairview is proving to be a top 4-5 team in the region. Good win.
  18. Timmy Knipp, Ferguson and Evan Faulkner are all over 41% for Elliott County through 7 games. The team is over 33%. Pretty good bunch of shooters.
  19. I hate the idea. I'll probably eat my words when someone tries to play stallball on Elliott County this year, but I still hate the idea. Stallball won't work with good defensive pressure from a good team.
  20. Tradition never makes a shot, a steal, a stop, or claims a rebound either.
  21. I hope there are good crowds. What a fine tribute to the young man and his wonderful family.
  22. Tradition doesn't win many games anymore, does it?
