Will Shelby V, June and Elliott go state again?

Featured Replies

What's the chances these 3 make it back to Lexington? Really enjoyed watching them last year and hope one year that one of these 3 win it all.

Shelby Valley is strong enough to go back to state. They are the favorite in the 15th and play very well on the road as well as at home. Barring no major injuries I see them going back to state.

If Elliott continues their current track record they will definately be contenders at the Sweet 16 this year and next. And I for one can't wait to see it!! :thumb:

Elliott will probably go out of the 16th barring something weird happening. Rowan

possibly has a chance though if they keep improving.

Rowan County might have a chance to be within 20 points of Elliott. That is all the chance the Viking have.

Elliott fans - book your rooms for March. No team inthe 16th will play Elliott closer than 15 points.

That kind of thinking will get a team beat real quick and I am certain the Elliott County team is taking nothing for granted!

I'm not an Elliott Co. fan.

Don't really care if they do get beat.

Just stating the obvious.

See for yourself at the Elliott invitational at MSU in March.

JBS has a good shot at winning the 14th again, but Hazard will be a team that could knock them out.

All three teams have a great change of making it back. Injuries or Over confidence maybe the only down fall. One thing that I have seen over the years is a team come in thinking that they were unbeatable just to watch that team get knocked off by a unknown/unranked team.

I'd say all have a shot, but Elliott Co. definitely has the best shot. I just don't see anybody in the 16th beating them.

I think Elliott County has the best chance to return.

Shelby Valley will be there too, but Paintsville could possibly knock them off if they have a bad night (BTW, where is the 15th tourney played this year? That could be a factor).

June Buchanan should repeat in the 14th, but Hazard has a slim chance to derail them. The 14th is played at Powell County this year.

The East Ky. Expo Center... It appears that Shelby Valley may have lost a starter though to a knee injury against J-town...

Elliott County should be in and Shelby Valley. Both of these teams play fast and could make some noise at Rupp this year. Good point about Paintsville could knock off Shelby Valley though. Anything could happen on a given night. I believe Elliott is a legitimate top 10 team in the state. I have watched 16th region basketball for 20 years and this is one of the best I have seen in the region.

Hey, if anyone thinks a team is definitely in the state tournament already, they are mistaken. Elliott is the top team in the region with no real competition, but one bad game for them and another great one for another team and they COULD be watching the state tournament from the stands. It is ONE loss and your done, anything could happen. That said, Elliott is the clear favorite in the region, and it would take an Hercules type effort to knock them off by a team in the 16th region.

:thumb: That is exactly what I was trying to say. There have been many, many "sure things" watching the State Tournament in March. All it takes is one bad game or bad injury to derail any team.
