Final.

Per KHSAA website...

No suprise in this one.

All Elliott tonight. West was playing without Hollingsworth who was suspended for violation of school rules. Evan Faulkner 26, Ferguson 24, Ethan Faulkner 12, Chris Knipp 11.

West was led by Chris Barker with 18

Elliott led at one point 29-6. West cut it to 11 in the 3rd quarter, but Elliott caught fire again and it was all Lions tonight.

West was simply no match for Elliott without Hollingsworth. The guards couldn't handle the pressure defense, Elliott played well and would have won with or with Hollingsworth. I wish he could have played in his final game. He is a good kid who made a mistake. Elliott's defensive pressure right from the opening tip was the difference. The Lions also shot 47% from the field and 80% from the line. They were 5-11 on three pointers. Hard to beat on this night.

I agree with you on all counts Bogey:thumb:

I agree, Hollingsworth should have got to play tonight. He has put a lot of time and effort into this and to have to go out that way is a shame. Surely they could have thought of an alternate punishment for a mistake.

Congrats to Elliot on the win, a lot of times the toughest game to get by for a district and possible region favorite is the 1st game of the district.

I have to disagree. While he did make a mistake, it was a mistake that he had to pay for it a servere way. Maybe in the school rules it says that if you are suspended you cannot play sports that day.

I think that they could have been an alternate punishment.

Elliott Co. starts out the postseason on the right foot.

I like Michael, pretty good kid. But if you make a mistake there has to be consequences. I would have loved to see him get to play, but what message does that send later in life. In the post game, Coach Webb was very candid in saying that the punishment was deserved. When you bend rules for certain people, it can really cause problems down the road. I applaud Michael for being there to support his teammates, Coach Webb for taking the high road and not trying to get some court injunction or something to allow him to play and the school personnel who did their job.

It was sad to see Michael on the bench in street clothes, but lessons need to be learned and letting him "off the hook" so he can play would not be the lesson needed.

I really think we are doing kids a disservice when we don't show them that there are consequences for actions taken. If they are protected now, they will expect it later!

Very well said GoRadio.

Very nice post GoRadio!!

Hollingsworth brings a lot to WC. It is unlikely he could have made a 31 point difference in the game, but not having him on the floor hurt the comets severely. He's an outstanding young golfer as well. :thumb:

What can you say about Elliott County? Good job boys! I look forward to seeing you all in Morehead... preferably with my guys somewhere in the mix too. :thumb:
