Attendance at LexCath seemed way down in the first quarter but increased steadily as the soccer fans came in and probably was up from a year ago by halftime.

After the last game between these two, I think LexCath knows that FC is capable of beating them. On the other hand, the LexCath defense seems to have picked it up a notch since then and I expect FC not to be able to score as well. LexCath 38 Franklin County 21

LexCath plays national powers Arlington Country Day and Huntington in addition to Lexington City teams, also 5/3 and others.

Looking at Highlands schedule, their best wins appear to be over Madison Central and Southwestern. They have played three Catholic powers close and this appears to be the reason for the confidence.

Every year Highlands and CovCath play very difficult schedules against out of state competition and lose. This year is no different. The two schools also seem to play for the NKY championship every year which is more meaningful as far as determining their respective place in the state rankings. Ranking the loser of the game in the top five would be a stretch for me since there are other regions with more than one good team. BG seems a clearcut leader in the West, Central Ky has LexCath, Franklin County and East Jessamine. EKY has JC, and Bell and there are several good teams in Louisville. I get tired of hearing how good Highlands and CCH are each year but they have backed it up in the playoffs. I would put the loser of their game somewhere in the second five of the top ten. The winner would be my number one, than BG, followed by JC, LexCath, and Central in no particular order.

I think the refence to Bob is former LexCath coach Bob Sphire who has led North Gwinnett to a number one ranking in Ga. 5A.

CovCath plays a tough schedule and is good every year but why would you put them above LexCath? It would seem to be important to win a tough game to advance in the polls. Now if they beat Highlands, I would agree with you. LexCath got blownout by St. X in their first game with new coaches and a quarterback who took less than a dozen snaps in games when it counted prior to this season. They have advanced in the polls with solid wins over some pretty good teams, Scot County, Franklin County, East Jessamine, and have steadily climbed back up in the polls. I think the two are very close and don't see how anyone can justify one being better then the other at this point.

I didn't see this coming. East does seem to pull a surprise every year though. Congrats on an excellent win.

FC has backs and receivers as good if not better than East. Ammons just overshawdows everyone else.

I like Highlands stadium best of those I've been to. It just feels good and has an electric atmosphere. After that, I would go with Trinity and then the Fayette County public stadiums and Male.

May or may not be Mr. Football but pound for pound, Revere is the best athlete LexCath has ever had in any sport in my opinion.

Another vote for Kaelin Ammons of Franklin County.

He'll play D-1 baseball somewhere. Already has half a dozen offers. Defintely the MVP of a talented LexCath team.

Harrison County had an impressive win over previously unbeaten Anderson tonight and plays Catholic next. I agree that Catholic is in the drivers seat now. The Knights were lucky to win this game. They led throughout but never by more than ten points. Catholic had a chance in the second quarter to get a two Td lead when they got a turnover deep in FC territory but chose to go for the endzone on three consecutive pass plays when they probably should have been more patient. The Catholic Defense seems to be progressively improving and should really take charge in the rest of the district games.

Considering that CovCath and Highlands are in the LexCath region, your statement may have some validity. However, the LexCath defense was much better against Scott County and actually snuffed them out pretty well in the second half when the game was on the line. Revere, Guy, and Lockname could start for anybody I suspect.

LexCath will need to contain Ammons as a runner. I think he distributes the ball quite well to his receivers and backs also. However, if he can be made to pass the majority of the time, we will win. LexCath 45-28

Another squeaker game for Boyle but I think they will come out on top in this one.

The Boyle- Mercer game should be the feature game in Central ky next week. I think it will mark the turnaround game for Boyle as they begin another run for the 3A title.

It's gotten to the point that I want the other team to have a star receiver so I can watch Revere smother him. Pound for Pound, the best athlete I've ever seen in high school football including Minnifield.

The Knights jumped out to a 13-0 lead but the kicking was horrid and Scott County got back in it. Catholic showed a lot of explosiveness tonight with several big plays by Revere, Caldwell, and Guy. Hancock played a solid game again. The LexCath defense was much better than two weeks ago despite giving up 36 points. Scott County played from a short field because of the poor kicking. They were able to move the ball fairly well early on the ground but resorted more to a passing game in the second half which played into Catholics hand I thought. Good to get this one behind us and looking forward to Franklin County next week.

LexCath wins 28-21 but I don't feel at all confortable about this game.

Didn't mean to imply they did. Very varied attack with a good passer and receivers. Number 40 was very effective running up the middle though and kept Catholic from focusing on the passing game. Dunbar should be able to take this away.
