  1. Do you know the dates and times of the replays?
  2. Do you remember a kid by the name of Allen Sexton? Three-time All-State at the same position. Had the best hands of anyone I've ever seen, including Cole. Cole had a great season and is destined to make an impact next year and the years to come. What's it look like for next year?
  3. Both Central and Southwestern are #1 seeds from their individual districts. Records don't mean as much as the seeds do.
  4. First round 1 v. 4 2 v. 3 Second round Winner v. winner Third round District winner v. District winner Higher seed has home field advantage.
  5. That is a shame:cry: . The kid showed real heart last Friday night. If all of the players played his way, the current situation wouldn't exist anywhere in the realm of high school football. WT
  6. Can anyone give me directions to the football field?
  7. Do they have a running game? I think Somerset is going to be hurting come playoff time if they can't develop a running game. If they run up against a solid secondary that can shut Cole down, they will be in trouble. In my past experience, both as a player and a coach, you have to be able to do both, run and pass, to be able to consistently win. Don't take this the wrong way, I expect and hope Somerset plays well in upcoming games. I just feel, in MHO, they need to get closer to 50% run v. pass.
  8. SPEED kills. Cole and most of Danville's receivers have it. Almost all of Cole's receptions were intermediate passes and then, like all good receivers, he got results after the catch with his speed. I would have hated to have been either of Cole or Deaton on Saturday morning. They took a beating all night long. Been there and done that. Well played game on both sides of the ball. Thought it was great to see football in Somerset at that level of excitement. Made me think I was back in high school playing when Somerset was the only show in town. What a night for local football. It can only get better as the teams improve. Thanks to all who made it possible. WT
  9. Average, I don't know when you played or even if you played, but when I played, when there was only one football team in the county, we didn't duck anyone. As a matter of fact, we, a A school playing up in AA, beat several schools that were in AAA and AAAA. We didn't care who it was or where it was being played - a game was one to be won. We had a job to do and we did it. Our coach never went into a game just looking at it as a game to be played. He prepared us to win, just not play the game. I don't know how Cobb can look at it as just another game - "it means more to them than us." Is he just sending mixed messages or what? When it comes time to lace up the shoes and snap the chinstrap on, I still get goosebumps. Do you? As I said before, I hope SW wins this one and the Jumpers win the rest of them. Play hard and play long.:ylsuper:
  10. Just remember it is a cross-town rivalry and these games have potential to go to the wire. Looking forward to seeing all of the new work on Somerset's field to see if it is in the shape it used to be. I hope both teams play well and the Warriors come out on top in this one.
  11. I don't think so. This game has been, for the most part, very closely played in the past. I don't look for anything other than that this week. Both teams are coming off a loss and will be hungry for that first W. It could be closer than most of you are thinking, but on the other hand ....
  12. I don't know where these people get their facts. Commando has been around longer than most of the people associated with the program. He always gives an unbiased opinion, whether it is liked or not doesn't matter. I've been to several functions with him over the years and he knows his football as well as anyone - better than some I've coached with. Keep it coming Commando.:ylsuper:
  13. We had that this morning in the Ville, but it has turned muggy and hot this afternoon. I hope it clears by gametime.
  14. An inside source tells me it won't happen, as WKU wouldn't work with the high schools.
  15. What makes it interesting to me is they let both receiver and defender bump all the way down the field with no interference either way. I'd like to see them go back to no bumping or anything and make it harder for either player to get an advantage.
  16. It's later in the week and time for a prediction. If Boyle can throw at will, (and I don't see why not), their defense shows up to play and stops the dive, BC 28, BE 21. If Bullitt East plays like they did last week and improves their pass defense, BE 21, Boyle 18. I look for a close game and the better defensive team to win. There is a great deal on the line this week. Bullitt East has wanted this matchup for years and definitely has something to prove. Are they ready to step up to the next level? Boyle just has to play their ball game and not let the atmosphere dictate their level of play. Isn't this what the playoffs are supposed to be like????!!!!!!
  17. Why so much hate, Joe? You have something against Coach A? And when did high school sports get about just winning? Evidently, you have missed the boat. Other people besides you have played in successful programs. Do they have the same attitude as you? I would doubt it. Football teaches you, regardless of winning and losing, that life goes on. Life deals you lemons all of the time. Whether or not you make lemonade out of them is up to you. You control your destiny by the way you live your life and the way you treat people. That says more about the person than if they won in the second round of the playoffs or they went home to start the next part of their life. I would have to agree with Bucknut on Coach A. I have personally seen him help some athletes at all of the schools in the county. He doesn't have any kind of allegiance when it comes to furthering an athlete's education. Can you say that? Have some love!!!http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/newreply.php# dancingparty
  18. As far as Jones goes, he was 12-20, but had several passes dropped for yardage, so he could have easily been over 200 yards. He threw two bad passes (INT's), but was not pressured at all. If Tamme gets the time that Jones had, it could be a long night for the Chargers.
  19. As far as the stands go, about like Boyle's visiting side. The pressbox is small and there is only room for about four people. If they put a radio station in there, even less room. There is indeed little room for parking, but oh my, what an atmosphere for football - fireworks, fans in the endzones, and fire trucks wailing away.
  20. This game is looking like the one of the premier matchups in AAA this week. Look for a high scoring affair. If both teams are clicking, it will be one score after another. Both have balanced attacks and can score at the drop of a hat. Don't let the schedule of BE fool you, they are the real deal. A solid senior club that is peaking at the right time. But, the same could be said for Boyle. They have put together a solid run after a so-so start. They too are doing the right things at the right time. Which defense is up to the task at stopping the other team's offense? I can't wait until Friday. Football at its best!!!! I'll predict later on in the week. Traveler
  21. Good luck to both teams. May both play injury free and to the best of their abilities. Wish I could be there, but will be in Mt. Washington with the Warriors. Let's hope both teams from the county are playing next Friday.
  22. This is just a recommendation from the Coaches Association. It appears to me that the coaches want this, just like most wanted proposition 20, but the BOC holds all the cards. And they tend to forget that they work for the member schools, not that the schools work for them.
  23. This game could be much closer than people think. Central is playing their best ball of the year at the right time, but the Rebels are starting to click. It could be a barnburner. I'm going to go with the Rebs in this one. BC - 20 Central - 14
  24. Can't wait until game time. This should be a good one. May the best team win and may all play injury free. GO WARRIORS!!!!!
