  1. You come from a place that actually cares about there football team though.
  2. I agree, The Big 3 around here(Pikeville,Belfry,P-burg) get accused all the time of Recruiting but the truth is with the madness that goes on with some of the other schools around here the kids who are good athletes dont want waste their careers on bad teams and getting a new coach every year and putting up with all the political junk that goes on. The truth is none of us have to recruit when those schools actions are the best recruitng tools we have.
  3. This would be better for you if they down-size the districts. Instead of having to play 7-8 distrct games against lesser teams youll have more room to play tougher non-district opponents so if you choose to do it youll have better competiton this way. I like the pigmently accentuated part that was cute.
  4. Football still teaches these lessons no matter what the class system is. Someone said a while back that this type of statement and others along the same line were probably what was said when we went to 4 classes many moons ago. I wouldnt doubt it.
  5. Simply put I could care less about the Louisville schools. My concern lies with the small 1a schools in the mountains. They shouldnt be punished because they have lost alot of kids in the last few years due to economic reasons completely out of their control. If the speculation is true the 1a schools in this new system look about spot on accurate for the true 1a schools and not the glorified 2a schools that are "cherry picking" in 1a. Of course Im all for playing tougher competition in higher classes. If the districts are downsized (which it looks like theyll have to be) then that leaves more room to play the bigger schools in non-district play. Which, win or lose, will make any team better.
  6. couldnt have said it better myself.
  7. First of all dontever call an east KY redneck a communist. Second of all its not teams' fault that under the current system they cant compete with schools that have 500 more boys to choose from than they do. I say level they playing field and the teams who are good because they are a good program will shine and the ones who will sturggle because theyre advantage lies only in more numbers than the other schools will be seen in a lesser light and IMO that right there is what has some of Yall who are against this SCARED TO DEATH!!!
  8. If it was me I believe id jump at the chance to play at UK or UVA either one and UVA is good theyve won 2 bowl games ina row.
  9. Beside when is leveling the playing field making it easier to win a championship anyway? I think some people on hear are mad because theyre adavantge is being taken away.
  10. It will be less extraordinary to you but not to those kids who win it. What do you propose? putting a Roger Maris asterisk* beside every team that wins state under this new system? This could help teams play better competition if the disrticts are downsized because it frees them up to play more non-district games. So teams could actually be (Gasp) better football teams playing under this sytem than under the current one. Sure youll have coaches scheduling some "cupcakes" but that wouldve happened anyway. So I say whats the big deal?
  11. I wish him the best of luck. Regardless of playing time I hope he gets his education.
  12. 20 years from now nobody is gonna care how many classes there when their team won the state championship,The trophies will shine no less,The rings will still be as big, and the achievment no less extraordinary, no college scouts are going to be doing long division to see how many schools are in each class before they watch a player form any class play. And regardless of how long we argue about it its till going to happen. So, like Richard Pryor used to say,"You may as well get some sunshine on your face"
  13. I know Georgetown and UK both do as well as EKU.
  14. The Pikeville teams of 87-88-89 were the most dominant ive ever seen. And I think only one player went D1 (Mickey Webster, UK). The rest went 1aa or lower. I could be wrong but Mickey was the only one I knew of.
  15. And I believe the opponents of it are as well.
  16. Get your feeder schools and little league programs involved as well and make sure they are running the same offense and defense as the high school team. That way the kids know the coaches basic system before they even get to high school. Also, the community must get involved (not just parents but alumni, faculty, and general supporters of the school). If you have a booster club make sure the president is energetic and creative. Ive heard alot over the years people say that when our football team needs something that we just get the doctors, lawyers, and mine operators to shell out the money but thats not true cause nobody works harder than our booster club.
  17. Any word on where Olinger QB from Hazard is going?
  18. Yes they did play some weak teams but they also played some great ones in bigger classes. Henry Clay who won their district in 4a and and Belfry who was 3rd in the state in 3a that year no to mention the traditional powerhouses in 1a(Pikeville had to play Beechwood just to get out of their region then). They did the same to these teams as the did to the weaker teams meaning they run all over them. They beat henry clay by two touchdowns and slaughtered belfry at belfry. They also whipped up on beechwood and every other 1a playoff team that got in their way. Plus I know that their are tough 3a and Ashland was great that year dont get me wrong. but im sure Ashland had a few cupcakes in their schedule as well.
  19. The Honaker twins at Pikeville should make some noise this year. Their big and strong and lightning fast and they have the championship bloodline.
  20. Pikeville will be better in '06 IMO.
  21. Good football programs dont have to recruit, the programs recruit themsleves. Just like the movie says "If you build it they will come".
  22. I agree, Pikeville used to get a bum rap about that and Ive heard the same about Belfry and Prestonsburg and nameless other good football programs. Its a funny thing that if a team beats other teams repeatedly then that team is ether recruiting or on roids or has the refs bought off or name your excuse here. But they refuse to beleive that they are just not working hard enough.
  23. Thats why the Honaker twins arent going there right now (But I aint complaining LOL)
