Who is the Next Head Man at Betsy Layne?

Featured Replies

I would like to know the hottest rumors going around on the next man to take over the head football coaching jobs.

Betsy Layne Elementary has some prime time athletes, I was just wondering if there are anyone interested.

The powers that be at BL should contact BL-MSU alumnus Brandon Combs. He is on the market...I think?

Would Bubba be interested?

Does he teach?

I'm not sure about that, but he is a good coach looking to become a HC.

Bubba is a great coach and an even better person. He would build a program the right way. He is one of two or three people who could save the program IMHO....if the administration is serious about winning and I doubt they are, they would contact someone like Bubba or Wayne Stevens and put together a budget, facilities plan, ideas for hiring assistants etc. and give them a pitch to come back home!

Will BL break the national record for most HC hirings at one school within a 10 year frame??

Who is Wayne Stevens?

Wayne graduated from BL in '93--played @ Sue Bennett College and @ Morehead...has coached @ Montgomery County,Lexington Catholic & is the DC @ West Jessamine currently. Don't see him heading back to Betsy Layne until the afformentioned problems are taken care of....should be in the running for the West Jessimine job in my opinion.

Who is Wayne Stevens?

Someone can correct me if I am wrong on this but I am 90% sure Wayne is a BL grad and an Morehead State Alum.....he is currently an assistant at West Jessamine and has also coached at Lexington Catholic I believe...great guy who has had some very good experience to get him ready to be a head coach. I know Wayne as a casual friend, I believe that he would be a great choice and would be very interested if the administration contacted him and asked him "what he needed".

He could save the program if he was given the things that any head coach needs to be successful.

This is going to be a bold statement but BL has the potential to be good if they would make the right hire and give that person the right amount of support by way of staffing and budgeting.....remember BetsyLayneFan....the squeeky wheel gets the grease!! It is time you guys stood up and let the administration know that you demand more for your kids!

In the past years of the program, there have been small amounts of time when support was there, in a way. However, it never stayed, because people are too busy fighting among themselves and the administration thinks its a basketball school, even though they have not won a Regional title in 26 years. Right now, I don't think you could bring Bear Bryant back from the grave and make a dent at Betsy Layne! Best thing that could happen here is for all the parents to get together, meet with the Superintendent, demand the resignation of the principal, get a new administrator who is supportive for all sports and will be fair, then recruit a good coach. No one is going to come there the way things are right now!

You sound like the man for the job!

I agree with half of your post Braveheart. I think if they did what you mentioned with the principal they will have a chance to bring in someone with a reputable coaching background and keeping them there. I also think if Betsy Layne would finally come to a realization that they are not a basketball school anymore and concentrate on other athletics such as the football program, then that too would help football. However, this is the part I don't agree with, I think that there is a lot of talent that roams the hallways at Betsy Layne. If the football program could get some of that talent from the hallways and keep their talent from transferring, then they could compete in their district (they are not currently in one). Like Coacher, that is a bold statement but it is true. They were on the brink of doing so in 95 when they had Coach Derossett at the school. People had a lot of respect for that team then. Now it's the same old story.
