This won't change things for years to come, if at all. A media person told me the KHSAA has thought about 1 Thurs, 2 Fri and 1 Sat. They have known this could happen all along and U of L's schedule does dictate what takes place at "The Slice".

I just looked at the KHSAA master schedule on their website and believe it or not, the next several years show three days for the football finals. It clearly shows 12/1-12/3 for 2006! I guess some of you will need to bring your favorite minister to Louisville! :thumb:

This won't have any effect except for possible reqrouping of teams into different districts. A change in the "multiplier" wasn't discussed and must be approved by the board of control, etc. Anything else regarding the non-public vs public is years away from becoming a reality.

Still looking for that football scoreboard! I had not heard the baseball field would be artificial as well. Soccer/Lacrosse practice field as well?

I have e-mailed the KHSAA. We'll see what they say. I was hoping the U of L game versus UConn would be a Thursday game, thus ending the conflict. Apparently that is not the case. The only time the 4A was played at Commonwealth, back when all games were played at different stadiums, Trinity and Henderson County made it. The drive was hard on the Henderson faithful. Lexington didn't support the football game as Louisville has failed to support the Sweet Sixteen in the past.

The conflict has come up with Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. I am surprised the KHSAA doesn't have a long term agreement in place for the "finals" weekend. Play one Friday and three on Sunday? Move to Dec 9? Move to a smaller venue with artificial turf? What do you feel the best solution would be?

I have yet to see an artist's rendering showing a scoreboard at Page Stadium. I know defense wins championships, but a scoreboard is a nice perk. I hope St. X has plans to name the new turf field after Paul M Young. Appears field house is under the home stands. Home side concrete? Visitors aluminum? Very short left field down the line in the sketch on St. X website. Football is planning to practice full time on the new turf? Where will the Frosh go? Possibly where the current baseball diamond is? Or will that be paved for parking? Appears the seats behind home plate may be sold since this appears to be a fenced area with access via the football stadium only.

I suppose Trinity can always refer to the Celtics or the Yankees! Or Ft. Thomas Highlands for that matter Makes it harder to come up with T-shirt designs too!

Let's see if I have this right. Freedom Hall is used for the basketball game. Slugger field is the site of the baseball game. Papa John's Cardinal Stadium is home to the football game. It is true the Alumni make these events happen at these venues. Bitterness or hatred has been down played by both schools. I recall the first football game I saw between the two in 1974 many fights took place in the stands. Brass knuckles were used. Things have calmed down as far as violence. Many Alumni still verbalize their hatred for the other and the two are fortunate to be able to capitalize on this rivalry financially. If St. X doesn't feel the emotion of playing Trinity more so than playing anyone else, then shame on them. That could help "explain" some of what took place this past December. Their alumni who care generally do and always will want a defeat of the other regardless of what the event is!

Warren County started the separation process this year politicking all summer long. Yet, they are building another school. Warren Central was very good in the late 90s. Now, Greenwood takes some kids. The new school will take some more. Lexington has griped the whole time about LexCath. They have some of the larger schools in the state. The they had not opened Paul Dunbar, Tates Creek, Lafayette, Bryan Station and Henry Clay would have another 200 boys each because district boundaries would have been redrawn (or left alone). Jefferson County has way too many schools. back in the day, Southern had 2500 plus and was very competitive in football. Most metropolitan areas in the USA have much larger schools than Jefferson County. I am not convinced smaller is always better. Student-teacher ratio yes. Overall enrollment, no. Busing is another issue that helped kill booster support and most school "spirit" in general. You have to care about the place you are representing to get out and bust your tail year 'round for the football team. These changes in public policy are not the fault of the private schools.

I simply don't see the KHSAA giving up the pay day. It would be a financial windfall for Trinity and St. X. Unless another Clark County type team rises up this year with 3 or 4 quality offensive backs and the linemen needed to protect them, then the Rocks should make it. St. Xavier will have a tougher time, especially in their district. I'd enjoy seeing LexCath and CovCath bumped up to 4A to increase the competition. As long as the public schools statewide insist on keeping enrollments hovering around a 1000 or less, then they cannot expect to win very many 4A football titles. It is a numbers game at that level. Ryle hurt the other Boone County schools. Lexington adding the new and improved Paul Dunbar years ago depleted the other schools somewhat. Oldham County High was just making some noise when South Oldham opened. Then North Oldham was created. Another new school is slated later this decade in Oldham. Warren County continues to build more schools, thus decreasing enrollments at the other schools in and around Bowling Green. My understanding is many school districts feel holding their enrollments down to 1000 per school is better for the students and teachers. You can't expect to win the 4A state football title very often as long as this practice takes place.

I noticed his name on the roster this year and there were only 6 JV games, of which I saw three. The Rocks will be OK.

Papa John's in December is always nice. :thumb: From the cushioned seats up high on home side. Manual Stadium, sidelines, you can get up high and see the whole field Old Cardinal Stadium from the end zone. Clark County...I like to battle the home team for seats. Paul Dunbar, very nice from both sides.

Probably so, but I do remember he refused to talk to anyone after the game. No media, not a word. I hope he does win. He seems to lead a great life and is respectful of all those around him. I believe a Seahawks victory will mean a Super Bowl ring for broadcaster Steve Raible, Trinity's first NFL player!

I forgot about Donovan's return. He was very unhappy at Jeff, chose to come back. That's his choice. He wishes he had never left Rock Heaven. He will help. Tim Phillips is not related to Vince. Hopefully pro $$$ won't lure Bobby Petrino away this season. Still four NFL jobs open. Difficult for Nick to walk in and start at another high school as a Senior.

Look for Soph to be Kirksey and his fellow Soph Phillips to take on most of the load. Plethera of receivers should help free up the run. Key of course will be if Coach Petrino takes everybody with him if he moves.

Per AD, 480 were expected at $20.00 per head. It was held in the Grand Ball Room of the Galt House East Hotel. It was to begin at 12:30PM and ended just past 5:00PM. People were still there at 5:30PM when I decided to make my exit.

They backed out the last time Trinity was to play in Cincinnati. Now that we have hooked up with Nashville's Montgomery Bell Academy, our game one is covered. Since the KHSAA is unsure what's going to happen with realignment in 2007, the schools can't enter into agreements past 2006! It's a shame. By the time Trinity knows of openings, many of the better schools' schedules will be filled.

This would include all-female schools. There are several small private schools that do not play football. I believe the 48 number is close if not exactly correct.

The Rocks scrimmaged LexCath this year and really didn't have any problems. The numbers at LexCath are way down. Hopefully they can build on this season's success and become a one hit wonder.

The KHSAA lost too much money in year's past per the media relations department. I suppose too many instances of one person buying a tape and then making copies for their buddies instead of everyone buying a copy from the state. Also, bootlegging off of the TV broadcasts had to hurt sales as well. The KHSAA does have radio or "media" timeouts during the state high school basketball tournament.

Sounds like the athletic departments have a lot more to worry about than separating private from public competition. By the way, anyone else notice that Bowling Green has retained St. Xavier as their home opener in 2006?

Change Trinity's district, moving Southern and Fern Creek over to the other pre-dominantly Jeff Co district and picking up Male.
