Trinity Football Banquet

Had a good time today at the banquet. Good to see some fellow BGPers there. Congrats to the award winning Rocks! What an awesome video put together by Scott Scinta and Smash Graphics. I guess that officially ends the season.... one last round of applause for the State Champs! :dancingpa

Just celebration. All the coaches had a chance to speak and all were very entertaining. Coach Bean and Coach Adams were particularly good. Coach Beatty spoke several times during the event and gave a very moving season wrap up speech. His speech covered he lows as well as the highs and he received a standing ovation at the conclusion. I'm really looking forward to next season.

How many people attend the banquet? How much does it cost? Where do they hold the banquet? Sounds like its a pretty big deal. I know during season the Seniors all go to Hooters every Thursday night for pregame meal and its paid for by boosters so I' say the banquet is something else.

Oh well..here we go.

It really moves me every year at the banquet, to see how the players feel towards the coaches. I think it is an honor to be involved with a program like this. It was awesome to hear the players say the loved the coaches, truly awesome. Obviously says a lot about what we are doing at Trinity...

RockDad, wait a few days and clap again for the State Champs.

The best I could tell there were about 80 tables with 8 people per table. Thats over six hundred. The banquet was held at the Galt House Hotel Grand Ballroom. They do a great job in my opinion. The proceedings including the meal lasts over four hours. One of the highlights was a video montage of the season leading up to and including the state final win over St.X. The DVD is for sale. I have to agree with previous posters that it is pretty moving hearing those players tell the coaches how much they love and respect them.

FYI Larry, we never wait as long as a few days. We celebrate that title each and every day. We just choose to share it with the rest of you every few days.

I,ve been to a few Banquets at other schools and have heard other people talk about their banquets and you know other players around the state really love and care for their coaches and the coaches actually love and care for their players also.

Awesome banquet. Coach Beatty has to be one of the best speakers Trinity has had in a long time. It appears the freshman coach, Coach McGuire is starting the freshman off on the right foot. Congrats to the entire coaching staff and players for an awesome season. Looking forward to next season. Who is doing the count down?

Sounds very similar to what Highlands does, although I wish our's only lasted 4 hours!

I am sure there are many programs throughout the Commonwealth that, like Trinity, have players who love and respect their coaches and are not embarrassed to say it out loud and I doubt if the Trinity posters were implying that only their program has players like that. The love and respect developed is one of the many wonderful things about athletics. The bond amongst teammates and coaches is something that is about impossible to create in any other activity.

^ Excellent point Leatherneck. It's that coach-player bond that makes high school football anywhere so special. As a parent one can only hope the coaches you entrust your kid to are solid role models.... I didn't say perfect, I said solid.... somebody that can support you as a parent on your quest to turn out a son/daughter to be ready for the world.

I think there is a little local politics involved that cause some of the Trinity guys to want to make sure that everyone knows how they feel about Coach Beatty. Some of our ex-men brothers seem to find it necessary to paint Beatty as a guy that parents and players can't stand. You hear hints of it on this board and it is much stronger in private conversations. My sons enjoyed playing for Coach Beatty and have a great deal of respect for him. I think that the negative whisper campaign has its origins in two things. First Coach Beatty is not a warm and fuzzy guy. If you ask him something you will get a straight answer with no sugar coat. The second thing is that x has a lot of trouble beating him on the field, even when they have better talent. You know the old adage, "If you can't beat them, spread rumours about them".

I've been to many T Football Banquets and they really are great to be apart of even if they last four hours :ylsuper: :ylsuper:

And to respond to T-alum's post. I don't think that any T fan, X person or BGPer has to create an negative whisper campaign about Beatty...
