Championships on Live Tv?

Featured Replies

Does anyone Know If the Football title games were televised live anywhere? If not, explain the need for tv timeouts.

I was told the timeouts were for radio the state did not tape the games this year from what I have heard.( pretty goofy to take timeouts for radio IMO)

Radio makes money the same way. Not televising the games is a BIG drop of the ball IMO...

NO DOUBT!!!

I was told by Insight Communications in Lousiville that the reason they dropped televising the games this year was a simple financial matter...

They were losing money hand over fist. According to Insight they couldn't even break-even.

It became too expensive a proposition for Insight Louisville to continue. I assume the same could be said for Insight N. KY. Given they televised a few games this year, one would have thought they could sell a sponsorship package up here for the NCC game???

Too bad they didn't see fit to inform the KHSAA of this decision until 3 weeks prior to the championships (according to a reliable source). Then the KHSAA dropped the ball by not making this clear to the participating schools. Now all we have is our game film, which is OK, but certainly not the quality of the productions in past years...

Good question, why all the commericals? I thought this was High School Football, not the NFL, lol.

Makes you wonder where the sponsorship money is going,

No TV due to cash!

The guy you saw was for the stadium broadcast. Radio broadcast do not use a "tv timeout" guy.

What exactly is the stadium broadcast? The PA announcer?

What were the additional timeouts for if not for radio?

You're telling us that good ole U of L or the KHSAA benefitted from the timeouts during the games for the closed circuit feed within the stadium so the folks in food lines and on the B & W floor could have some wonderful advertising to go with their football enjoyment?

See questioned I answered for Rocks86.

Radio broadcasts are done in a traffic format..they take breaks when there is a break in the game. They do not take timeouts in a game for radio.

The KHSAA should sell those tapes to make extra cash....

The KHSAA lost too much money in year's past per the media relations department. I suppose too many instances of one person buying a tape and then making copies for their buddies instead of everyone buying a copy from the state. Also, bootlegging off of the TV broadcasts had to hurt sales as well. The KHSAA does have radio or "media" timeouts during the state high school basketball tournament.
