Could the best team in KY actually be outside of Louisville???

Featured Replies

Everyone seems to be talking about and debating whether Trinity is better than Saint X at this point in time. Could it be that perhaps neither is the best in state, and instead, LexCath is??? I realize that LexCath lost a close game to Saint X early, but it seems that LC's defense really improved quite a bit over the season, while Saint X stuggled some at the end (against Trinity and John Hardin).

At this point in time, how would LexCath stack up with the 4A "big boys?"

I dont think Lex Cath could do it personally, I do feel they are the class of Lexington, but I feel Trinity has a very good secondary and X has the ball control angle.

If they Played X or T 10 times I am fairly confindent they would win a few.

I agree with that, however, if they played one game that counted, I think X and T would both beat them

From what I saw, no. Lex Cath had a great offense, but I like the defense from X and T better.

I personally do not think Lexington Catholic could play with the 4A big shots, but Justin Burke gives them the potential to beat anybody on any given day. I feel LC would be dominated at the line of scrimmage against a big team although Bowling Green looked mighty big to me and took a trashing. Lexington Catholic's defense was very small, but very quick.

Its a possibility. Lex Cath's defense would worry me against the 4A big boys, although they impoved dramatically at the seasons end.

Lex Cath had several 80 yard drives vs both this year. I don't think X or T would slow the offense down if they are healthy. The question is how much could Lex Cath slow down Trinity and X's offense. The way they played at the end of the year I sure would like to line up and see. For people that think that Trinity and X's lines are too big they need to take a look at Rockcastle and Bowling Green's rosters. Bowling Green's defense is HUGE! They hung 36 after playing a bad half vs X and from the scrimmage I know they could put points up on Trinity this year. We'll never know so it doesn't matter but I sure would have liked to see them line up against each other at the end of the year. Nobody thought Trinity would touch X and you see what happened. Lex Cath had an offense that produced 1,000 yard+ back, TE core that combined for 240yds 3TD's in the Regional Championship game, 2 1,000+ WR's (one of them led the state in TD receptions while the other was 2 punt returns away from the all time state record, 3,500+ yard QB with a 10/1 TD/int ratio that put together the most impressive year of any QB in KY High School history! It would be a couple of great games that's for sure!

The Rocks scrimmaged LexCath this year and really didn't have any problems. The numbers at LexCath are way down. Hopefully they can build on this season's success and become a one hit wonder.

No. Trinity proved they are the best team. I would say T and X would beat LexCath by a TD or more.

The answer is no (JMO of course). Bowling Green turned the ball over something like four times in the shadow of their own goalposts. T or X wouldn't gift wrap a win like that. I was at the LC/BG game and was impressed with LC's speed and Burke but both T and X would be able to control the LOS and run the ball at LC giving LC fewer chances. I will say this, I've seen LC teams over the past few years and this team had more heart than any of the earlier ones I saw.

X and T are ahead of Lex Cath. As stated above, X and T wouldn't gift wrap the game for them like Bowling Green did.

Earlier this season, just before handing Trinity one of the biggest losses in their series history, St. X came to Lexington and escaped with a field goal in the last minute....not a touchdown, not a blowout....a field goal.

This was St. X at their season's best stretch of games...listening to St. X vs. Trinity fans go at each other all season long makes it difficult to decide whether X just fell apart from that high point or suffered from key injuries.

The pre-season exhibition against Trinity was just that...an exhibition. The Trinity coach after the game thought that LexCath hadn't shown their whole bag of tricks, and were going to be the force in the playoffs.

LexCath's defense really came together and improved dramatically at the end of the season.

The win over nationally ranked Male a couple years ago by LexCath, followed by a LexCath over St. X victory, helps to tone down the myth of Louisville 4A automatically winning. The game is won on the field.

I love the desire to win LexCath shows in every game.

And I'd sure like to see Trinity and LexCath tee it up for real.

I'll give LC their due this year. This year they actually pulled together and completed the deal. What you fail to understand is that tight losses in pre-season and September don't mean much, its what you do at crunch time. Win a few more titles and get back to us. I'm sure it would not be in LC's best interest to discuss football history with the likes of Trinity and St.X.
