  1. Juggs put up 34. Holy cross allowed 0 tonight. Something gives next week in the playoffs.
  2. They can take the regional title too if they want assumming the player in question played. And every regular season win too. But that still doesn't get the 3rd place team region team anything other than maybe the region runner-up trophy unless they just rule it vacant. It isn't going to get them in the state tourney now and isn't going to alter the state tourney results other than the state title being vacated.
  3. True. That kept it at 17-7 which is where it was at when the INT happened. Also another huge turn in the game happened when NCC's center Smith got hurt and the back-up center sent two snaps over the QBs head and one of them nearly got the QB decapitated when 3 Beechwood defenders just nailed him after he picked the ball up. Luckily they taped him the starting center up at halftime and he was able to continue.
  4. Dayton was missing a lot of players and they aren't that deep to begin with numbers-wise but they still should have been able to control this one. If you allow a team to hang in there one paly can get you beat. Congrats to Carroll County for the big win on Senior night.
  5. This game had more big plays and twists than any game i"ve seen in awhile. First half NCC is up 17-7 and looking to put the hammer down. They run the ball a good 3 or 4 yards past the first down marker and as one of the officials is running up to mark the ball, they notice one of the other officials is down and in obvious pain near the LOS. They all rush to his aid and after a long delay he is okay but unable to continue and carted off. But the ball is now marked a yard short of the first down in all the confusion. So NCC throws a bullet 4 yard pass that looks like it bounced off the receiver and hit the turf and popped up. But Beechwood returns it as an INT and I don't think any of the remaining officials can see the play clearly. Beechwood scores after that and it is 17-14 NCC at the half and you think the tide has turned. But NCC comes out and forces a Beechwood punt after stopping them for a loss on 3rd and 1. NCC scores to make it 24-14 amd then scores again to make it 31-14. Then driving again for the knockout they fumble the ball near midfield. Here come the Beechies looking like the Patriots. Score just after the 4th quarter began to make it 31-21. NCC driving again and another fumble. Beechwood storms to another score to make it 31-28. Whoa nelly. Then NCC makes a big stop and forces a punt. But Beechwood can't get it off and NCC blocks it and returns it deep in Beechwood territory. All they need is a couple first downs with only 3 minutes left. Beechwood holds and on 3rd down NCC throws a pass down to the 1. But wait a motion flag flies from the far side of the field (reverse deja vu of last year?) and NCC now faces a 4th and 8. They kick the FG for a 34-28 lead with 2 minutes to go. Beechwood gets the ball and NCC intercepts it and returns it for a TD to make it 41-28. Beechwood would throw another INT with 1:30 to go and NCC would kneel it out.
  6. What would it matter? If the issue was not raised until after the state tourney the region third place team doesn't enter into it.
  7. Boone Co does not have open enrollment. Can kids just leave Ryle for the new school or is it based on where they reside?
  8. Teams just can't play at any level they want to. You must ask and you basically must have a very good reason such as there are no district teams anywhere near you. Also you cannot overload a district and you cannot leave a district with less than 4 teams. IMO even if Highlands asked to move to 6A it would have been denied because that would mean a 6 team district. And with another new school set to open next year (Cooper High) it wouldn't be granted in the future either.
  9. Games at Paul Brown Stadium would be Saturday's St. Xavier-Elder winner against the winner of Princeton-Centerville, and the winner of Colerain-Clayton Northmont against the winner of Moeller-Sycamore. One game would be at 2 p.m. and the other at 5 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 10. Tickets (Good for both games): $6 students $10 Adults (pre-sale) $12 at Gate
  10. No. Teams have kids from Ft. Thomas, Southgate, Bellevue, Alexandria, Cold Spring, Silver Grove, Newport, Dayton. etc
  11. Dayton would probably have to play a near perfect game but it happened to Beechwood in 2000 when they were probably the best team but got upset.
  12. Be an interesting year next year for BC with Farris and Duece and Bogle gone. Kind of a good test to see if they can sustain the level of play from the last few years.
  13. Huh? With the starting kicker out the last two weeks they are 9 of 10 on PATs and 0 for 1 on field goals with that one hitting the upright, and of course not counting the made one in OT that they took off the board. The game before that 5 for 5 on PATs and 1 for 1 on FGs. Punting has been good all year and the kick coverage has been good all year. The kick returns have been good all year.
  14. Why do you think it is a given that Lloyd will lose to Holy Cross? Lloyd has played decent at times especially for small stretches of a quarter or two and Holy Cross barely escaped Newport. Could Lloyd pull the upset in the playoffs?
  15. Never count Danville out. Corbin, NewCath, Green County (can't argue with results thus far), Fort Campbell, Prestonburg all have a shot.
  16. It isn't a numbers crunch at most places. It is a weeding, taking only the creme of the crop that have been playing AAU for 6 or 7 years and putting them on the fast track. You can argue that either way. If a girl is talented enough to be JV or Varsity in the 7th or 8th grade why not let her play at that level? Then again that discourages or flat out displaces Sophs or Juniors that might not be the best players in the world but would contribute.
  17. Some school leagues have by-laws that require 20 players before there can be two teams, 30 before 3 teams etc. (With 10 on each team). They do not make it any less than that because there is only X amount of gym time to play X number of games. That means if you have 18 kids from a school then you have 18 kids on one team. Before you say the 18 should be cut to 10 some schools have by-laws that no kids can be cut from a school team. One friend had 15 girls on a team one season and then had 18 on the team the next season.
  18. Only in Ohio can a game effected by wildfires in California determine the playoffs. Then again at least it isn't like KY and Indiana where virtually everyone gets in. I'd just play at this point. You have to beat Colerain now or later so why not take a full week to prepare.
  19. If Lloyd wants to get anywhere in the playoffs they better start turning it up this week. I think they will play better than last week and should win by a couple of scores.
  20. I think he meant 2000. Although I believe NCC was district champ in 94? after beating Beechwood but was eliminated in the playoffs by Beechwood. A few of the other games from 91 to 99 (I believe NCC won the only meeting prior to 1991 and that was in the mid 80s) were somewhat close but Beechwood for the most part was winning the regular season game easily and of course beating just about everyone in the state in the playoffs from 91 to 99.
  21. NewCath's defense did a decent job against a good Camel offense especially after the first drive. If the defensive tackles are not back, then Beechwood might wear down the defense a little. Plus those DTs also play some a series or two on the O-line at times. Beechwood will attempt to be balance because that's what they do. I wouldn't expect to see Bankemper with 25 carries but maybe enough carries to test the injury for soundness. NewCath will of course throw it all over. Still a little suspect in the running game, but then they really haven't stuck with it too often this year. It isn't easy to run with all the receivers in there, and they really haven't just lined up in a run formation and tried to pound the ball. I think it will be a good test for both teams and should be a close one. Think it will come down to how well Beechwood can run it versus how well NCC can throw it.
  22. Here's another oddity. Camels can't kick the ball past the 30 on kickoffs all night including kicking it OB. NCC starts with good field position all night. Second half kickoff goes about 15 yards maybe. Then after they score to go up 20-13 the kicker puts one 6 yards deep in the endzone!! Where was that all night???
  23. Actually though the Camels gave NCC a break by calling time out when the Camels faced with a third and 8 and the clock running. That stopped the clock and let the Breds have enough time for a FG at the end. Of course Camels were hoping to make a first down and continue the drive.
  24. Unfortunately Dayton suffered some key injuries tonight that could be tough to overcome.
