In region 4 of the OHSAA football rankings which compile the playoff pairingd for this week, there was consideration to wait for Mater Dei HS, California to play its game that was postponed from Friday to Monday( today ) because of the fires. Had that game been played on Friday, that may had pushed Moeller's rankings down from 6th to 7th which means playing Colerain (#2 seed and #10 in the country), vs playing Sycamore (#3 seed and 8-2 on the year). As it stands today, Moeller will remain the #6 seed. Clayton Northmont has the ability to protest- not about the points gathered if Mater Dei had won or will win but rather the divisor from the number of games that Mater Dei played. OHSAA made the ruling today that the brackets stay as is. Here is the link to the Enquirer story.

If you are Clayton Northmont, should you appeal? It seems that win or lose for Mater Dei, it would of put Northmont in 6th place. Or do you just get ready for Colerain?

Only in Ohio can a game effected by wildfires in California determine the playoffs. Then again at least it isn't like KY and Indiana where virtually everyone gets in.

I'd just play at this point. You have to beat Colerain now or later so why not take a full week to prepare.
