  1. No. Teams have kids from Ft. Thomas, Southgate, Bellevue, Alexandria, Cold Spring, Silver Grove, Newport, Dayton. etc
  2. Dayton would probably have to play a near perfect game but it happened to Beechwood in 2000 when they were probably the best team but got upset.
  3. Be an interesting year next year for BC with Farris and Duece and Bogle gone. Kind of a good test to see if they can sustain the level of play from the last few years.
  4. The Courier-Journal also used Kentucky's Open Records Act to examine recruiting complaints investigated by the KHSAA from 1999-2004. In the complaints, 23 public schools were accused -- some more than once -- of recruiting violations. Eight private schools were similarly accused. The breakdown of accusations: Public school vs. public, 21. Public school vs. private, five. Individual vs. public, one. Individual vs. private, two. Anonymous complaints: four vs. public schools, one vs. privates. The newspaper could find no instance of any private school accusing any other school of recruiting during the five-year period. Some schools were hit with significant penalties: They included Rose Hill Christian, North Laurel and two Louisville schools, Holy Cross and Moore. In Louisville, open enrollment policies generally allow students to apply to the public schools of their choice. That means that most public schools must recruit, too: 40 percent of Jefferson County public school students go to high schools beyond their so-called "resides" areas. "We frequently have our eighth-grade athletes contacted by high school coaches," said Christian Academy superintendent Bill McKinley. "They have never been contacted by coaches at St. X or Trinity or Assumption or Sacred Heart, but … by public school coaches telling them how much they'd like them to enroll in their school." Manual principal Beverly Keepers, a Proposal 20 co-sponsor, said: "I think we have just reached a point where we have to say enough is enough. We have seen quite a bit of recruitment going on, blatant recruitment. It's not only the Catholic schools; I think some of the public schools are involved in the recruitment also. But from what we have seen, there's just an unfair advantage (for private schools)." http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051016/SPORTS/510160510/0/SPORTS05
  5. Christie Hefner #90 on Forbes Most Powerful Women list http://www.forbes.com/lists/2005/11/QFJI.html
  6. By my count there are 4 public schools and 4 private schools left in the state semis in soccer. Before you complain that private schools do not make up 50% of the schools playing soccer also note that there are no small schools left. Maybe other public schools should find out what Highlands is doing and do the same.
  7. Huh? With the starting kicker out the last two weeks they are 9 of 10 on PATs and 0 for 1 on field goals with that one hitting the upright, and of course not counting the made one in OT that they took off the board. The game before that 5 for 5 on PATs and 1 for 1 on FGs. Punting has been good all year and the kick coverage has been good all year. The kick returns have been good all year.
  8. Why do you think it is a given that Lloyd will lose to Holy Cross? Lloyd has played decent at times especially for small stretches of a quarter or two and Holy Cross barely escaped Newport. Could Lloyd pull the upset in the playoffs?
  9. Never count Danville out. Corbin, NewCath, Green County (can't argue with results thus far), Fort Campbell, Prestonburg all have a shot.
  10. It isn't a numbers crunch at most places. It is a weeding, taking only the creme of the crop that have been playing AAU for 6 or 7 years and putting them on the fast track. You can argue that either way. If a girl is talented enough to be JV or Varsity in the 7th or 8th grade why not let her play at that level? Then again that discourages or flat out displaces Sophs or Juniors that might not be the best players in the world but would contribute.
  11. Some school leagues have by-laws that require 20 players before there can be two teams, 30 before 3 teams etc. (With 10 on each team). They do not make it any less than that because there is only X amount of gym time to play X number of games. That means if you have 18 kids from a school then you have 18 kids on one team. Before you say the 18 should be cut to 10 some schools have by-laws that no kids can be cut from a school team. One friend had 15 girls on a team one season and then had 18 on the team the next season.
  12. Those dang private schools Paul Dunbar, Bowling Green, and Highlands have just dominated the state Soccer championships the last two years. How can a public school ever expect to get a state championship?
  13. Think about it.............. The Giants are 6-2?????? The Packers are 5-1?????? Freaking Lions are 5-2??? Carolina is 4-3???? Seattle is 4-3???? I think the Bengals could beat any of them at home and most of them on the road. Other than Dallas how many NFC teams would you put before the following: NE PITT INDY JAX TENN KC SD DEN BALT CLEV
