I wouldn't call that a good thing...they were awful on defense in the last half of the season against anyone with quality skill players.

How can anyone really put Cov. Cath over Highlands? Cov. Cath hasn't beaten Highlands since 2006...that includes an 0-11 run...the SR's on this year's Cov. Cath. team were 10 & 11 years old the last time Cov. Cath. beat Highlands...and now they're just going to overtake them? Highlands HAS to be #1 until someone up there proves otherwise.

6A - The usual suspects 5A - BG, Highlands, Cov. Cath. and I would say Pulaski has a pretty good thing going right now 4A - John Hard, Warren Central, Johnson Central, and Collins 3A - The top 22 teams in 3A...lord, what a slugfest! 2A - Mayfield, O-Cath, Murray, New Cath 1A - Beechwood...remember in the movie Billy Madison when he goes back to elementary school and runs things on the playground? Yeah, that's pretty much what you've got now in 1A.

Do what? You're talking about Blackman TENNESSEE right? Blackman started 5 SR's n the OL They started 10 SR's on Defense. Yeah, the QB is back...but you're nuts if you think they'll be loaded before you see them play...and don't tell me about their depth which is coming up...they played several guys both ways last year.

If you read the other site about KYFB, it would seem that whoever it is will struggle to win over the internet fan base contingent...what a bunch of grumps!

Someone said it in another thread...He has everything to lose and very little to gain by this move. Now, if he can win another one, then yes, he etches his name in the stone of KY Football a good deal deeper...if he gets there and gets beat a couple of times, his earlier work solidifies his legacy...but if he fails to get there and flounders in the 2nd and 3rd rounds for a couple of years, then some (not total) damage will be done...but then again, how much damage can you do to a guy's reputation that is backed by 5 rings?

I politely beg to differ... IMHO...There are almost no scholarship bball players out there as it is...and if you're under 6'5, you can pretty much forget it, save a few exceptional exceptions...in bball, recruiting is based much more on the "you either have the body and can shoot/have an inside game, or you don't" principle than the performance in Summer leagues evaluations. Football is just the opposite. EVERYTHING is based on three criteria: 1. Your tape, 2. The "Look" Test, and 3. How you do at camps (most of which do not interfere with any high school season). At Warren East, in the last three years, we have had players drafted in the 5th round and 2nd round of the MLB Draft. At our HS games, it has been a struggle to get a seat behind home plate during these years because of all the radar guns packed in back there...the fence lines have been much the same...during those same years, with the area travel-ball team, and same drafted players, you could sit wherever you wanted, and there wasn't a scout to be found. Just my observations.

Great Stat: Of the four QB's in the ACF and NFC Championship Games this year, THREE were drafted by MLB. I HATE people who say kids should specialize in one sport or another. Play 'em all...for as long as you can...youth and its wonderful and unique experiences are fleeting.

T will be as good as anyone else in the state at the START of the season, but I would venture to say, the brutality of their schedule, coupled with a lack of marque players like Quick, Hatcher and Co., will leave them much like they were in 2013; progressively more vulnerable as the season wears on.

Nobody said it was a bad thing to be Cov. Cath, or to play at the level they play at...I simply said, "more of the same", which, it seems, you agree with.

More of the same...lose to whichever Cincy teams they play, curb stomp the rest of NKY for the most part...play Highlands tough but lose and then exit the playoffs in either round two or three...cue coach to start tweeting about "next year"...

Jefferson Co. Schools...where coaches fight the good fight against an evil organization (JCPS) hell-bent on destroying the "community based" high school and acting as the greatest promoter for parents to send their kids to the boys in green and girls in red.... Good luck to the new coach.

After watching that video...he looks like a very nice player for a freshman...as well as another sign that Trinity is quickly coming back to earth in terms of their personnel. That ain't what Hatcher, Quick, Robey, Whiting, Dawkins and Co. looked like when they were Freshmen...

I think you almost have to do it by Decade due to the vast amounts of talent that BG has had...I would say that doing a "Top 3" for programs like Trinity, X, Highlands, Male, Mayfield, etc.. is almost impossible without breaking it up into decades...I'll give it a shot here staying in the years I know which are 1990 to present... 2010 - Present 1. One ship, we'll call her "Our Lady of T" got a little off course last season, but never took on water and continues to plow ahead, undeterred... The other ship, we'll call her the "S.X. Minnow" has holes everywhere, has no discernible charted path, and a crew where the "owners" of the ship threw a 30 year veteran captain overboard in favor of a new captain who learned to sail in a bathtub...and now is throwing new crew members overboard and hauling old one's up out of the water... Oh, I'm pretty sure they'll drop to 4A in 2015...it's almost a given...but what will be interesting is that Warren Central will drop with them, likely changing their name of their 4th round nemesis from BG to WC.

Whoever takes over, it is going to be a bit different than it has been for the past two years...South graduated essentially everyone off last year's team, and most of those guys had been starting for all three years. The schedule is still manageable in 2014, but in 2015, South is almost a lock to go to 5A. It will be interesting to see how the program progresses though those changes. Regardless, Nelson did a fine job there and I believe Smith, should he be hired, will do well too.

They'll be right there waiting in the 4th round, just like they always are. John Hardin will become really interesting next year should they fall to 4A like many people believe they will.

Southlake Carroll probably has a biggest football budget than North Texas...

That would hold more water if Highlands had gone back to being Highlands on D after that game...but they didn't, they gave up 34 and 35 in their last two games of the season. And I watched that game too...Highlands put their big boys back in the game and they couldn't stop Central either, regardless of what they had done early on. The same thing happened against Lex. Cath a couple of weeks later. Cov. Cath is clearly the superior overall program...but over the last 5 years, I'd still take W. Central and John Hardin.
