John Hardin 2014

Featured Replies

What does John Hardin need to do to improve in 2014? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

They'll be right there waiting in the 4th round, just like they always are.

John Hardin will become really interesting next year should they fall to 4A like many people believe they will.

How many starters did they lose? I know they had a solid JV team with good talent.

All right gents, here we go. I will try not to ramble.

Offense: Three offensive lineman return. Their SE/TE returns and two running backs return. They have the POTENTIAL to be very good offensively, even better than this past year. They will move one of their starting RBs, Josh Miller, to fullback which fits his physical, put your head down and make contact running style. They will have Elijah Smith and two very talented Sophomores rotating between their two running back positions in the Wing-T. Lots of speed at the running back position, much more than this past year. So with a solid line, experienced SE/TE and extremely fast running backs, there are two big question marks with this team offensively. The biggest is at QB. Shay Stone, who will be a Junior next year, will take over for Patrick Anderson. He is talented, but inconsistent and gets happy feet from what I have seen. He is not as talented as Patrick, but I really hope he works hard and gets in the gym this year. I think he will either make or break that team. No pressure. The other question is at receiver. Bottom line is someone better step up. They have a lot of young talent, so that position may develop as the year goes on.

Defense: What can you say. The beasts are gone now. The front four are gone. LB Chris Smith is gone. And of course Patrick Anderson is gone in the secondary. Defense is totally rebuilding so they may struggle early but there is talent there. I really don't know who is going to start up front or at the LB position next year.

Once again, the potential is there but I honestly think they may struggle a bit early and take some losses. But they should win their district and compete for the region title (probably against Bullitt East) and challenge BG again.

I don't think they will be classed in 4A until 2015.

It wouldn't surprise me to see them drop to 4-A. The school's enrollment has dipped, which forced the track and cross country teams to move from 3-A to 2-A in those sports.

Oh, I'm pretty sure they'll drop to 4A in 2015...it's almost a given...but what will be interesting is that Warren Central will drop with them, likely changing their name of their 4th round nemesis from BG to WC.

Numbers wise I don't even think JH is in the top 10 for Class 4A right now, so they will definitely be moved down to 4A in 2015. I don't understand it, though, because Central Hardin has over 1800 students and North Hardin has almost 1500 students while John is steadily decreasing and has around 980 students as of right now. I thought they would move the district boundaries but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Listening to Coach Lewis on the radio he said on defense John Hardin will probably start 7 Sophomores and 1 Freshman this year. This is unheard of at John so they may struggle early in the year. He stated the offense should be very good with a very experienced offensive line, a potential all state tight end and a lot of depth at the running back position. John scrimmages Warren Central I believe and they play Central Hardin, Meade County and Highlands early in the year so these young kids will get some great experience heading into district play. Going to be an interesting year for the Bulldogs.

Wow. Good luck with that.

Skins,

Haven't seen anything official, but below will be the teams that they end up playing.

John Hardin vs. Seneca (Aug. 22)

John Hardin @ Central Hardin (Aug. 29)

John Hardin @ Meade County (Sep. 5)

John Hardin @ Highlands (Sep. 12)

John Hardin vs. PRP (Sep. 19)

John Hardin vs. Iroquois (Sep. 26)

John Hardin vs. Jeffersontown (Oct. 10)

John Hardin vs. North Hardin (Oct. 17)

John Hardin @ Grayson County (Oct. 24)

John Hardin vs. Western (Oct. 31)

The teams are accurate but not sure if the dates are. Going to be a rough schedule early on but should get them ready for district play.

I checked the KHSAA website for the roster and theres only 34 kids on it. There has to be more kids on the team than that. I know JH enrollment has dropped severely over the past few years but that is just ridiculous.

Skins,

That roster is actually not completely accurate. There are only 13-14 Seniors and the Junior class is also small, but I know there will be upwards of around 25 Sophomores and the Freshman class is huge (as many as 35 Freshman). I think you will see around 60 kids suiting up for varsity this year. The next two years will be rough but in 2016 this team will be deep and loaded with talent.
