Bowling Green - Top All-Time 3 Players

Featured Replies

From Purple Nation:

1. Delvin Colton (1995). He was a linebacker that had about as much potential than any Purple over the years. His 1995 team went 15-0 to win state championship. Louisville Male coach gave some good Locker Room material for Purples saying that Bowling Green would be a good scrimmage for them. Purples went to Louisville and took care of business and went on to win it all that year. Very gifted player and great team.

2. Robert Reynolds. Robert was also a linebacker for the Purples. Went on to have success at Ohio State (stearted for 3 years, including National Championship year) and also made it to the NFL for a few years. Was simply a gifted, strong athelete. When he was in middle school he could long snap like a pro. I was one of the coaches for the middle school team and we couldnt believe the zip and accuracy of his snaps. We knew he was special.

3. Nacarius Fant. Will go down as the best that has put on the Purple and Gold by the time the season is over. Correct me if I am wrong but I do not think the upcoming Senior class that he is on has ever lost. They were toybowl champs. Undefeated in middle school, undeafeted as Freshman and is 30-0 their Sophomore and Junior Years (I know the varsity lost when they were freshman, but the freshman team was undefeated). Has unreal hands and had some of the biggest catches of any player in state against St. X and John Hardin. Already holds most records for receiving and touchdowns before his senior campaign begins. Should leave a huge mark for Purple Football for many years to come.

Disagree. Reynolds definitely #1. Never watched him play, but those who have said he was able to cover sideline to sideline like no one they had seen, or have seen since.

How is Leman Boyd not top 3? Some would say he is the best to don the Purple and Gold.

I do think Fant will be the best Purple ever after all is said and done.

Your top 3?

I'm going to base my Top 3 off of a short time frame, while BG is rich in history and traditions I can not speak on some of the players personally.....

1. Michael Bailey - He was maybe pound for pound the best player I saw wear the Gold Bowling Green helmet.

2. Nacarius Fant - This young man his a special player, and when it's all said and done will leave BG with some records that may not be broken for a very long time.

3. Trent Steelman - May not have been the best athlete on his teams, but was a leader who knew how to win.

Your top 3?

Give me Leman Boyd and Nacarius Fant for sure. I am open for #3. There are so many deserving players and I only know so much.

Leman was an outstanding talent; way up on the list. Purples have been blessed with lots of talent over years. The Spud Byrd and Dale Lindsey era to the more modern day folks of some of the names mentioned above (Steelman, Bailey, Derrick Kennedy ...) If Devin Hayes has another year like he did last year (it is hard to argue with numbers) he has to be considered one of the best as well. Though many teams will be keying on Fant this year, his numbers will still be very impressive. It will be hard not to give Nacarius Fant the "all-time" title in Purple land. Going to be fun to watch.

1.Robert Reynolds - best high school football player I have personally seen.

2. Nacarius Fant - most explosive player in BGHS history.

3. Derrick Kennedy- a man among men in 1994 & 1995 seasons.

If you listed Bailey, without mentioning Ryan or Jay Beard, let alone listing him as #1, I want some of what you are drinking.

I've only followed BG since the time I entered high school, so I can only really speak 03/04 forward.

1- Reynolds; mentioned why above. Never saw him, but talked to several older friends who had either seen him or played against him and said one of the best HS they had seen in the area, ever.

2- Fant, thought about listing Hibbett here, but Fant has tore up superior competition, Hibbett feasted on the likes of Adair County and Breckenridge County.

3- Beard, either one really. Both had a knack for always being around the ball, but I'll give the nob to Jay over Ryan.

HM- Hibbett, Stuart Hines, DL Moore, Trent Steelman, LaVance Anderson.

I have to mention Shawn Taylor also. He is easily one of the best and fastest RBs to ever carry the ball for BG.

Leman Boyd,Robert Reynolds,& Derrick Kennedy. Special mention Sandy Whitney,Shawn Taylor,V. Tisdale,Brandon Jewell,Brian Harpool,Sylvester Gray,Shakur Gatewood(RIP),Tevin Barksdale,J. Carpenter,DL Moore,& many many others....
