Bowling Green - Top All-Time 3 Players

Featured Replies

If you listed Bailey, without mentioning Ryan or Jay Beard, let alone listing him as #1, I want some of what you are drinking.

Never had the opportunity to see Ryan Beard play in HS, but I saw him play for the Hilltoppers and he was a very good player.

His brother Jay was a top notch player as well, but the reason why I left Jay off was because of his injury late in his junior year that carried over to his senior year.

...I don't know how could forget about Baily's brother, LaVance Anderson. He was player now, just a natural at every position. I remember LaVance playing 3 defensive plays against Owensboro in the playoffs and making 3 straight sacks.

Don't forget Shawn Taylor had all the records until Avery H. got em!?!? On top of that he had 6 punt returns in 6 str8 games! Could literally go for a touchdown @ any given time he touched it! Nobdy else was as scary with the ball in his hands then Shawn Taylor...& he hardly got the ball! He is probably the best RB to come out! Ran a 4.4 4.3 40? Had 260yrds IN One half...Leman B. Probably the best defensive player

I think you almost have to do it by Decade due to the vast amounts of talent that BG has had...I would say that doing a "Top 3" for programs like Trinity, X, Highlands, Male, Mayfield, etc.. is almost impossible without breaking it up into decades...I'll give it a shot here staying in the years I know which are 1990 to present...

2010 - Present

1. Nacarius Fant - BG's 1st Mr. Football

2. Devin Hayes - Hold all of BG's QB passing records for the most part

3. Michael Bailey - Totally disruptive force on defense

HM - Scooter Hollis, Lincoln Quick, Blue Tisdale

2000 - 2009

1. Avery Hibbitt - Holds the scoring record at BG

2. Stuart Hines - Monster of an O-lineman

3. DL Moore - huge WR, played at S. Carolina

HM - Trent Steelman, Ryan Wallace, Carlos Fugate, Ryan Beard, Jared Carpenter

1990 - 1999

1. Delvin Colton - Best player I have ever seen in HS...anywhere

2. Robert Reynolds - Gatorade POY, National champ at OSU, Tennessee Titan

3. Brian Harpool - Phenomenal RB, even better DB, great KR too

HM - Shaun Taylor, Cornelius Bluitt, Tramayne Taylor, Sandy Whitney, Bobby Warwick, Quinton Woods

If Michael Bailey played around 2010, then I have clearly mistaken him for someone else who played around 06/07 at BG.

I've only followed BG since the time I entered high school, so I can only really speak 03/04 forward.

1- Reynolds; mentioned why above. Never saw him, but talked to several older friends who had either seen him or played against him and said one of the best HS they had seen in the area, ever.

2- Fant, thought about listing Hibbett here, but Fant has tore up superior competition, Hibbett feasted on the likes of Adair County and Breckenridge County.

3- Beard, either one really. Both had a knack for always being around the ball, but I'll give the nob to Jay over Ryan.

HM- Hibbett, Stuart Hines, DL Moore, Trent Steelman, LaVance Anderson.

Didn't one of those Beards play at Centre?

I don't know who the top 3 all time would be for BG, but I do know that it would be hard pressed for anyone to come up with 3 players that played on the same team together that meant more than Blue Tisdale, Devin Hayes and Nacarius Fant. I think over their varsity careers together they accounted for something like 207 TD's among the 3 for passing and rushing and receiving. That is pretty darn impressive if you ask me.

I believe so.

I think you have to do it by decade also. Everyone's list of top 3 BG players of All Time will have 3 different players and all 3 will be justified.

I haven't seen a person in this thread yet who shouldn't be a top 3 player of All Time at BG.

Jason Alexander is one of the top 3 in my book
