I would take Owensboro at home by 14 but then I'd also take Boyle at Boyle by 7. You better be pretty special if you're going to go into Rash stadium and beat the Red Devils. I'm not so sure Boyle has one of their better teams this year.

Totally disagree...offenses were WAY behind where they are now in terms of diversity. Platooning was a rarity even at your top schools. Coach availability for education was about one-hundredth of what it is now. Player development was not even close to what it is now in terms of off season programs. Yes, I agree that your very top teams from that era would be just fine in today's game, but I 100% disagree that lower 3/4 of the state was as good as it is now. Trinity and Highlands are in themselves the perfect example of this. They have exploded in the last 10-15 years in ways that is far beond any such period in their previous and excellent histories.

Heavily favored? The Rocks would likely have broken the streak of the Purples in 2011 and/or 2012...they would have gotten pummeled in 2013. But by the same token, the 1988-1991 Rocks would have gotten their streak broken had they played Moller or Cathedral or Indy Warren Central during their run. It's a waste of time to talk about who played who as that it's all theoretical chest thumping. You'd be better served to debate the strength of opponents during each respective streak. But I don't seem to see too many T people looking to do that.

So despite winning 4 state titles, 3 in the last 3 years, BG would somehow benefit and become better prepared for the playoffs? ...and why is Trinity more exciting than playing St. X for BG kids? It's not that different of an environment. It's not like Trinity has any major DI guys on their roster right now for BG kids to get excited about. ...and how is Trinity going to be a bigger gate than X? Same school essentially in terms of their fan bases. ...and why have I noticed that Trinity's schedule is considerably lighter for next year? Have they, I don't know, realized you can only play so many big games without getting beat up? Trinity calls others ugly without ever looking in the mirror.

You have a wonderfully skewed view that Trinity somehow won 50 in a row against the same level of competition it is playing (and losing about 50% of the time too) these days. You can bark all you want about mystical MaxPreps rankings and such, but how many teams in KY would be 4-0 against BG's schedule right now? Maybe 5 or 6? Your hope to dimish the accomplishments of BG's program displays a lack of class that is beneath what most of us perceive as what to expect from the Rock faithful.

It will be the fifth straight week (counting week 0) BG will play an opponent that is undefeated heading into their contest...it will be the 4th where they will face a team ranked in the top 5 of their class. Brutal schedule.

They've beaten a 1-3 Greenwood team, an 0-4 Logan Co. team, and a good 1-2 Graves Co. team. Let's wait and see how they handle a 2-1 Battle Ground Academy before we start talking "sky is the limit" about them. I do agree that they are very well coached which is reflected in their physicality and tenacity.

It is interesting how BG has beaten Lexington catholic and St. X in successive weeks and yet, they have a single player who is keeping them afloat and they are similar to a 2008 BG team that barely beat a 4-7 North Hardin team, struggled to beat a 4-7 Warren East team, and lost to a 7-4 Henderson Co. team. :idunno:

Dude, what games are you watching? South Warren has played a 2-1 East and a 1-2 Greenwood and scored a respectable 4 TD's against East, but one of those was a defensive TD and they kicked two field goals, and then had 5 TD's against Greenwood, but it has hardly been as though they have just mass subbed in the 3rd Qrt. of those games...you act as though they have just called off the dogs in all their games this season. Heck, they've running-clocked one team...and that's a 0-3 Logan Co. team that has been outscored 6-148 so far. Come on man.

South Warren is going to struggle to gain respect until they show some quality wins beyond Warren East. You claim to want to play Wayne Co. on the heels of Wayne Co. destroying the same Paducah Tilghman team that knocked your Spartans out. And that Paducah team was hardly an elite team, posting an 8-6 record. South's one venture into 6A resulted in a loss to a 6-5 Daviess Co. team. Their best "name" victories are over a 5-7 Ft. Campbell team, a quality win over a 10-3 1A Russellville team, and a quality win over an 8-4 Monroe Co. team. At the end of the day, South is going to have to push to the Finals in my mind to get some real respect. 3A is in the West WAY down this year with Central and Paducah both showing that they are not their normal powerhouses. If South makes it to the carpet, then I think we'll all say that they have lived up to the hype (and the enrollment advantage), but anything shy of that and we're all going to continue to regard them much like we would a small yappy dog,

To Wolford's credit, he did hire a DC who has made X exponentially better...now if he'd just do the same with an OC, they'd be downright nasty. I would say that the shine is off both X and T, and honestly, it makes 6A football interesting for last year and this year (or until one of the green-meanies gets another one of those classes that you know will come along for them). Really, it's kind of good for KY football. I mean, how many of us were just utterly disinterested in 6A football for about 5 years when T was completely demolishing everyone but X (and sometimes X too)? X and T may not like it, but I think it's spurred interest in 6A football again, at least.

Am I wrong on this, but I believe a famous story about Taylor Co. was that they turned down Chuck Smith for the Head Coaching job, which spun him off into his success at Boyle. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was Taylor that said "no" to him.

In the last 5 years, Taylor has had two 2nd round and three 1st round exits from the Boys B-ball Regional Tourney...given the level of players they have had during that time, I would hardly chalk them up as setting the world on fire with their bball program...sound to me like a small-town Super has his hands a little too much all over the sports programs of his High School.

Maybe Taylor Co. has established itself as a graveyard for coaches that neither supports them nor keeps anyone for long?

I have a hard time calling this X team underachieving. They don't have near the personnel of the last couple of X teams but are significantly better on Defense.

If JH is competitive, I would say Highlands fans need to become pretty worried. I predict a Bluebird blowout though.

You must be an "old guy" who has a green tinted view of things...you just threw out at BG: Boone Co. - Very good teams, lost all three Semi's to T in close games Waggener - 2 first round losses and a 2nd round loss during the streak years - OR - Ballard, didn't make the playoffs for any of the three years of the streak St. X - A 2nd round loss, a 3rd round loss, and a failure to make the playoffs. and Warren Central - Excellent teams, quality wins. In comparison, I throw back from BG Lex Cath (4 times) - three 4th round losses to Highlands Blackman - TN Large Class State Runner's Up St. X (4 times) - two 3rd round losses and a 2nd round loss last year Warren Central (5 times) - three 3rd round losses John Hardin (3 times) - three 4th round losses McCallie - 2nd round loss in TN's DII Not to mention, the secondary games of Henderson Co. (2 times) - 2nd and 3rd round losses Owensboro Sr. (3 times) - 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round losses Christian Co. (2 times) - two 2nd round losses ...AND I didn't even mention the teams BG played in the State Championship games cause I don't really regard them as worthy of being on the list. Get out of here with that. THERE IS NO COMPARISON of the two strengths of schedule during the streaks. None.

I'm with 4theCats... What does PLAYING at a high level have to do with COACHING? I mean have y'all watched the 30 for 30's and Hard Knocks? These cats in the NFL ain't the sharpest pencils in the box in most cases.

When T was making it's incredible run in 2011 I was pounding my KY chest with them as my sticking point in arguments against those from Ohio or TN or FL. But this ain't 2011.

BG played Blackman last year...Blackman would have destroyed Trinity last year...no one will argue that...Blackman is better than ANYONE Trinity played during their 50 games...get over it, BG is king for now. I also have NO DOUBT that Trinity will be back atop the mountain soon enough. Have some class and applaud someone else's accomplishments for a bit.
