Boone County laid an egg last night against Cooper. No pass defense, anemic on offense, very few first downs. This was not the same Boone County team that beat Butler in a scrimmage, beat Conner, and played almost even with Covington Catholic early.

 

Lafayette just won the Fayette County State Championship with a 34 to 24 win over Lexington Catholic. Add to that the Generals have a nice win over Central and a very close loss to defending 6A Champ Scott County.

 

So this one looks like Lafayette by 35, correct? Or will Lafayette have a let down after winning the Fayette County State Championship? Or will Boone come out on fire? Will Boone solve their pass defense issues with the return of Aaron Floyd? Will Boone County use all their weapons on offense or continue to play small ball?

 

Who wins? Why?

I think Boone is in big trouble but then again Lafayette will probably overlook the Rebels.

I dont think that Lafayette will overlook Boone Co. Coach Shaw was bitten by overlooking teams during his first year as head coach & now I think he & his staff wont let that happen.

 

I live around the Lexington area & there hasn't been much hoopla about Lafayette defeating Catholic honestly. With LexCath having a new coach, losing one of their best players when Coach Letton left & the fact that they were coming off of a beating @ the hands of Bowling Green it has seemed like just another game. I talked to several that watched the Lafayette-LexCath game & they all said that the Knights fans were really dejected after the game & if they lose to Station, it will be even worse.

 

That being said LexCath is going to go 6-4 @ best during the regular season, I look for Station to beat them this Friday & for Boyle County to do the same, the rest of the games wont be a contest IMO.

It was just another game or just a game in the eyes of many Lexington Cath fans. Not sure which fans you talked to. Dejected? Sure, who wouldnt be after loosing a lead, bitten by the turnovers and dumb penalties. Of course anyone whould be dejected with a performance like that.

@ Beach Bumm, dont take everything about your team so personal, I said that there wasn't much hoopla around town about it..... & I wasn't trying to downgrade the young men on that team. Sure, I would be upset too about turnovers & penalties, believe me I've seen my share over the years.

Lafayette wins this easily,, they have a receiver that runs 4.4,,, there is no one on Boone's team that can cover him. They also played Scott County pretty close,, I do not believe Boone is at that level at this point of the season.
