It would be Augusta's first win over Fleming since the 2002 District Tourney, and only their 2nd win over the Gold and Black since 1982. The way both teams look this year maybe not so much an upset, but historically it would be huge. But I'm going to go with the here and now. AHS-73 FC- 62

Great win for the Panthers. They had 4 players reach double figures in scoring: Josh White 22, Jeremy Hardymon 16, Matt Groves and Dustin Staggs with 10 Each.

I knew it would be a blowout but WOW.

Most recently 2002 season the Panthers were 22-6. From '01-'04, the school had a 66-39 record. One of the best 4 year spans in school history. Granted there were no major championships over that span but respect was gained and a winning attitude was added to the school which hadn't been seen in years. During that 4 year span the school won 2 Holiday Tourneys, finished as Class A Region runnerup, and had wins against 4A and 3A schools in Montgomery Co. and Harrison Co. Something that was unheard of for a small Independent School like Augusta. Also the '01 Freshman squad with only 7 players on the team won the Freshman District and Regional Tournaments.

I personally think all Districts should be seeded and that you should play everyone in your district twice during the regular season. Also its getting a bit pathetic with this small school, big school bickering thats been going on on a number of threads the past few weeks. How soon people forget...2000, St. Patrick wins the District over Mason Co. 2002, Augusta beat a 4A school (Montgomery Co.) in a regular season game. 2004 Augusta beats a "big" school Harrison Co. in a regular season game. I'm getting sick of hearing, small schools can't win...but I'm also getting sick of hearing, Oh we were only down 1 at halftime...Win and then you'll get your respect. But it won't last for long.

So 4 games decided by 3 pts. or less and 3 going into overtime? Here's my take on this. Augusta and Deming know very little about Cambell Co., and the Camels know very little about AHS and DHS. Untill the season starts I don't think theres much room for anaylsis upon the matchups because I doubt there are many who have info on every school in the region because of the lack of publicity many of these schools get and because some don't play each other on a yearly basis, so comparison is difficult because of the lack of information this early. Remember these teams just picked up a basketball this past week.

He was counting the total enrollment of Augusta K-12 which is in the 300s. If Augusta ever closes it won't happen any time soon. The administration there is the best its been in years maybe the best thats ever been there. The school is growing by the day with more students, new renovations, new classes, new everything.

Are you speaking of Augusta's or Providences test scores? Because Augusta's test scores were much much higher than the 50s.

Yes a woman could possibly be the next A.D. As for the coaching position I would bet it will not be the Florer's because they do not teach at the school and the administration would prefer someone who does. And I would be very suprised if Wade Smith got the job although he has applied.

Outside the top 2 maybe 3 or 4 its really anybodies game. I think the parody in the region will be even greater next year then it was this year. You could really see about 12 teams challenge for a top 5 or 6 spot. I do have the Cats at 7th but I think they could be as high as 5th or as low as 10th.

Augusta will be higher than what most may think.

Should be an interesting season.
