  1. I'm a little confused. I just read today's Courier Journal. According to the same rankings in the paper ... Mason County is #1....Elliott fallls in at #4. Are the rankings on this post accurate?? According to the article in the CJ this is the first poll of the season for them...how is there confusion about who they rank #1?? http://www.courierjournal.com Did I read one or the other incorrectly?
  2. Now....haha...think about it....they wouldn't be called supporters if they were out predicting "big lossess against established programs like CovCath and Mason" would they? Established programs don't win games...it's the players. Mason, CovCath, Elliott, Catholic..they all have quality players who will play the game well....Prevous state championship banners won't help (or hurt Elliott) now!
  3. I don't think Elliott plays the weaker competition to "pad" their stats (as you stated). I don't think anybody in the 16th boycotts Elliott. So....that means there are severl games that need to be played within the region. The district is also seeded...that means six games within the 62nd district itself. To say that Elliott doesn't schedule top tier teams would have some truth to it. Mason is on the schedule this season--and next. You can't schedule a more quality team than the state's #1 ranked can you? Here's hoping for a one point win over CovCath!
  4. To some it wouldn't matter who they have played or beaten....they would still be a lower tiered team. Either way they will have the opportunity to prove how good (or bad) they are in a few weeks. If they are beaten badly at the 5/3 by in-state teams, then I will agree that are not a top 10. If they compete and win, then I think they are legit.
  5. You're right. I have no idea how long the starters from each school have played. I know that Elliott and Boyd do not schedule one another every year.
  6. Not too far fetched to say that Elliott may contend for the Regional Crown? Good Job girls!
  7. I must admit that I am a little surprised at the score...It just goes to show that there is some balance. Elliott may have the upper hand in the region, but it will be an interesting year. Congrats R.H....hope to meet you at the All-A Region (vs Elliott in Round #2)!
  8. Is 36-35 the final score in this game?
  9. If that's the final ... then I'm a little surprised!
  10. Prayers for a speedy recovery -- from Elliott.
  11. Proud of the Girls from E.C. They have taken many "beatings" over the years. It's so great to see them winning. GREAT JOB--you're making your school and community proud!
  12. I have to imagine that Elliott County knows that as well as any other team in the Region!
  13. Emotion! I don't think anybody is trying to "discredit" anyone else. Teams, coaches, fans, parents, and students always elicit strong responses from other teams, coaches, fans..... That's what makes sports fun. Enjoy the season....the only person who can "discredit" someone is themslef. I respect Morgan's team. They have strengthened the region recently. I'm proud of the small schools of the 16th! I think Elliott wins on Friday----at least I hope so.
  14. Well, I thouht it was exciting too. However, I wansn't too impressed with the officiating. It was probably a hard game to call....since both school had multiple turnovers. Proud of the Elliott County girls though. I think they will have a great year. They have endured much. In fact, I think I remember some 80 points losses over the years. Here's hoping no school does that to another ever again!
  15. Thanks Elliott. You gave me an opportunity to go to Rupp and cheer for "my" team. Never in my life have I had that opportunity before. Spending Thursday and Friday night in Rupp...with most of Elliott County...was special. Thanks for the season--and the fun. I look fwd to November!
  16. I heard that there may be another "drop out" or two...
  17. Glad to hear that things went well! From those of us here in Elliott Coutny "Congratulations on an amazing career!" Although you caused us pain (the 3 to seal the win at SH last fall), and the assignment in general, you're well deserving of all accolades. I really wish that Jon could have competed in the regional tournament this year....even if that meant a change in champions. Nobody should want to win at the expense of someone's health. I think I'll take a drive to Evansville this fall. Proud that he's from the 16th! Go Evansville!
  18. It's an exclusive event for sure. So many never get the opportunity...but then again, that's what makes it so special. I have ALWAYS rooted for the 16th region at the State Tourney....no matter who it was. This year, for the first time ever, I get to cheer for my team. It feels good.
  19. Final. First ever trip to Rupp for Elliott County! Tyler Maynard leads the way--off the bench--with 22 points (six three pointers).
  20. 78-64 with 1:40 to go. McDavid held to just four points in second half after a monster first half.
  21. 76-60 Elliott with under 3:00 left. Tyler Maynard with, I think, 6 three-pointers.
  22. Maynard with his fourth 3-pointer--Elliott leads 69-58.
  23. 64-55 Elliott with 7:00 to go.
  24. Elliott leads 61-53 after 3 quarters. Tyler Maynard hits a huge 3 (his third of the game), and then Evan Faulkner hits 15-footer to close the quarter.
