Yes this is the first time Elliott has beaten West in girls basketball. The game was at West Carter. Final score was 69-58. Sloppy game, both teams committed 35 turnovers. Neither team shot very well. Griffith played very well for the Lady Lions scoring 25 points. Elliott was up 18 points with 6 minutes to go, West went on a 12-0 run, but could get no closer. K. Ferguson at 14, S. Ferguson 12, Adkins 8 (and 14 rebounds) Fannin 6 and Ison 4. For West...Day 18, Perry 11, Stevens 10, Cox 6, Oney 6,Carper 4 and Tackett 3. We did the game on the air, it was not all that exciting. Very well officiated (Joe Billman and Tommy Sparks). Elliott jumped out to a 9-1 lead and never trailed in the game.

The girls were thrilled as well they should. I just meant it was a pretty boring game for the most part. Elliott Co was in control for 28 of the 32 minutes. A little lull from 6 minutes to 2 minutes left in the game, otherwise, it was pretty ho hum as far the game goes. Coach Cantrell and his girls should be proud and celebrate! It just was a pretty boring game was all I meant by the comment.
scorekeeper Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Well, I thouht it was exciting too. However, I wansn't too impressed with the officiating. It was probably a hard game to call....since both school had multiple turnovers. Proud of the Elliott County girls though. I think they will have a great year. They have endured much. In fact, I think I remember some 80 points losses over the years. Here's hoping no school does that to another ever again!
