  1. Ahh... Elliott has two "t's" That drives me nuts..ha. Anyway, Elliott doesn't seem to be excessively "hyped" According to BGP rankings EC is only ranked 20th. MC much better at #3. Common sense would tell you that MC should win this game easily. I see lots of posts predicting hugh MC wins. That's OK...as it should happen this way. The only thing I don't understand is "Who on the MC/EC thread is "hyping" EC? Some people are predicting a small Elliott win. I don't see EC people being brunt, arrogant, or "in your face." Some fans seem defensive. MC is a great ball team. They prove it on the court. Elliott proves that they are a good ball team (the had a lead on CovCath in the 3rd). Elliott will probably loose by double digits. That's the sport. I wish people wold quit telling how bad EllioTT is.
  2. If I remember correctly, these two teams meet next year too...in Sandy Hook. I really hope this one gets played tomorrow though.
  3. Everybody knows Elliott's gym only seats 1,200 people. Everybody knows it's going to be crowded...and uncomfortable. The school is offering plush chairback seats in the Performing Arts Center. You can watch and listen to the game there on the 18' big screen (with surround sound). That's where I'll be. Anyway, some people are still attempting get the districts moved away from Elliott. I have a problem with that. Elliott players should have every opportunity to win their district on their home floor as other 62nd district players. The game is not about the parents, fans, or even the students. It's about the players. They are the ones working thier tails off for the wins. The rest of us do nothing--except keep the concession stand busy. I say let the smaller schools have thier turn at hosting the districts too. Even if the fans have to "scrunch up" a little. Menifee, Rose Hill, and Elliott all deserve the opportunity.
  4. Just curious...who is the district host this year? I could probably find it out on KHSAA, but I am rather lazy..ha.. Maybe somebody knows?
  5. I agree that kids are passionate and sometimes make bad decisions on the floor...they taunt, clap, and sometimes "rub it in." As stated though, these are kids. I heard someone yelling "HE'S A JERK...NUMBER 5 IS A JERK." Maybe that's where kids learn bad behavior. When you have a 50 year old adult calling a 17 year old kid a name, how would you expect a KID to react? In any case, I was glad to see the passion from the Raceland kids (and the Elliott ones too). I don't like to see negative behavior from adults (who are still stuck in HS themselves). Every school has some poor sportsmanship from the parents and fans (Ashland is one of the better)....it's probably been like that since consolidations began (who knows...that's way before my time).
  6. Being number one in ANY region is an accomplishment. It simply means you are capable of being one of only 16 teams still playing basketball in Lexington. That's an accomplishment. Statements like yours make you sound...well..... I think Mason wins by 12-16 points. Only a few short years ago the 10th region fared only marginally better than the 16th on the state stage. Mason will win, and probably handily, but to say being number one in the 16th Region is not an accomplishment ...means that MC wasted thier time scheduling this game. You Think?
  7. It was an exciting one--it wasn't until late that Elliott really secured the win. I thought Elliott moved the ball better and was more patient on offense. That was nice to see....fewer forced shots. Great WSAZ story on the Faulkners too.
  8. OK...shew. I have bitten off more than I intended to chew. I assumed that Russell did gain something for allowing the game to be played there....AND I did say that there was nothing wrong with that. After all, Russell had to pay the utility bills, janitorial fees for clean-up, and repairs to the facilities (the falling piece from the ceiling). I am sorry that I made the mistake of misidentifying the schools responsible for the various aspects of the game. I should simply have said an individual in the concession stand was rude to a child, and a "ticket taker" was rude to an elderly woman. Rudness has no excuse, and neither do I. I should have been more careful about my assumptions. I'm sorry. I still say that Ashland (adult) fans are the most classy in the region. Being a die-hard Elliott fan, I mean NO disrespect to any other school. Again, I'm sorry for my false assumptions!
  9. OK OK, my bad. It may not have been Russell staff taking the tickets. The concession stand was manned by Russell staff wasn't it? I was just raised to NEVER treat people as though they were beneath you. I can assure you that I witnessed two instances where that happend. No matter who the culprit was, the acts were inexcusable. I agree that it was great of Russell to allow Ashland to play there. I'm sure they prospered from it too though (and you can't blame them for that). Also, if I remember correctly I praised Ashland adults for CONSISTENTLY beign the most mature adults in the 16th region. I regret that the game wasn't played at Anderson. Ashland always treats us well.
  10. Some thoughts on the game: 1. The Russell staff is not professional. Ticket takers treated an older woman from Ashland poorly. I was embarassed for the school system. Concession stand worker spoke badly toward a student (don't know where they were from). 2. Ashland adults are classy. I have never known Ashland adults to be rude or mistreat the competition (even if they are losing). Thanks! 3. I have no idea how Ashalnd kids grow up to be the respectful adults that they do....their student section is obnoxious...but that's ok. It makes games fun! 4. Gosh it got aggressive in the 4th! 5. It felt good to beat Ashand.
  11. If Elliott should play quality teams, and Elliott likes to play "in region" teams, then please (RH) help quell all this talk next season. Let's actually have a Rose Hill/Elliott (regular season) game NEXT SEASON! I have often wondered why the regular season matchup between the two schools ended a few years ago. Elliott would schedule RH...heck they played in the days when many other schools in the region boycotted the Hill. PLEASE --LET'S PLAY REGULAR SEASON!
  12. Elliott suffers its first 16th region loss of the season. Could easily happen again in regular season. Likely could happen again in tournament play. Several people seem to be really excited about the loss....and that's great too--it helps makes high school sports spirited. I don't see Elliott posters making excuses, whining, or crying foul. It seems to me that is was a clear-cut Rose Hill win. I think the majority of us accept it as that. Overall I think it was a great loss for our team and fans. The old adage "whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger" will hopefully hold true. I would much rather lose this game than game one of the districts. Objectivelly (and I know this isn't possible for some of the less mature posters), does the loss help or hurt Elliott with the rest of the season. I say help.
  13. Not the game/score I expected. It is the one I accept though. I wish Rose Hill and Elliott would schedule each other (regular season) next year. That way we would have an idea about each squad prior to making bold predictions...I hate to lose face...ha. I believe Elliott will schedule them. They schedule everybody in the 16th who wants to. Good Job RH. You have a GREAT team that really impressed me.
  14. Well, at least is is simple....ouch...my weak mind can't comprehend all that...ha.. I guess I'll just wait and see.
  15. KHSAA site says Bath's gym seats 2,000. It feels much bigger than East and West and thier capacity is listed at 2,500 (at the schools). I don't think it will be full on either side. I think it will be rowdy though. Can't wait. Still talking Elliott in the win. I may back off my 15 point margin and call is 8-12 points. Heck. I don't care if it's just one point. That suits me fine!
  16. I am curious about the 62nd district's seeding procedures. East, Elliott, Morgan all defeated West Carter. However each of those three schools split games with the other two. That makes for a three way tie for 1st place in the district. West is winless. Prior to district tourney, how is the seeding now set up? I know there is some contingency plan to determine positions, does anybody know what it is?
  17. Per Dr. Corleone's diagnosis I am still lucid and in touch with reality....because I DO NOT believe that it will be a 30 point win, and I DO NOT think Elliott is the best 16th region team ever. If I remember the initial thread it asked the question "Is Elliott the best 16th region team ever?" It was a question, not a statement. I don't remember anybody rationally defending Elliott as the BEST EVER. Also, someone with a little common sense would realize Ms. Liberty ALWAYS goes with a 32 point win for Elliott. One should realize that she is partial to that number for some reason. She generally laughs at her perdictions as well. It does not matter what the fans, parents, cheerleaders, etc think about Elliott's chances against Rose Hill. The Elliott players know they have to bring their "A" game to defeat the Hill. THat's all that matters. The rest of us can do NOTHING to change the outcome of game. Good Luck Rose Hill....were the circumstances different I would be pulling for you....but in this case ... GO ELLIOTT!
  18. Am I wrong thinking that Boyd did it once? I think Morgan ALMOST did it a few years ago.
  19. Hey...that's a no brainer. We are unfamiliar with success...we've never had it before. It's new to us--I remember a very few years ago a 6 win season. BUT... Elliott knows they are beatable. I am glad we are having success though. Just bear with us. Those of you who want Elliott posters, teams, and fans to go away will have your wish soon enough. It's cyclical. You can laugh again when we suffer through single digit win seasons, 60 points losses, and and the status quo returns to the 16th. Then everything will be right with the world again. Rose Hill does scare me tomorrow night though. As we have not played them in several seasons. I know many people don't like the Elliott posters because we pick our team to win. I have to do the unpopular and unrealistic thing and pick an Elliott win by 15. Hope I am right.
  20. How large is the proposed GRC complex going to be? Is the Fieldhouse ALWAYS sold out for the Regional tourney? I guess we are really lucky in the 16th. MSU's arena seats 7,500 and I can only remember one ... maybe two.... regional games with near capacity. That and the fact that it is neutral sure makes us spoiled in that sense.
  21. Hey Michael Corleone.... Is there any truth to the rumor you are petty and childlike? Some people overestimate thier team's ability...yes. Every team has supporters that wear blinders. However sometimes there are detractors that do the same. In my OPINION --that's you. You ridicule Elliott supporters for exaggerating thier team's potential ... and then you turn around and exaggerate on a grander scale. In my opinion Elliott wins over RH by 15, PLEASE don't read more into my post than that. Just because I think they will win doesn't mean that I think the USOC will be drooling, doesn't mean that I think Rick P. may leave Louisville to coach them, and it DOES NOT mean that I think they cannot be beaten by a 16th region team. What it does mean is ... I think they will beat RH.
  22. Any thoughts? I would have chosen Elliott by 30 earlier in the week. After the East game though, I believe it could be much closer. East is probably much better than West, but it is obvious Elliott can be beaten!
  23. Here is the exact link to the article I read. How can we have two different #1 teams? http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080102/SPORTS05/80102020
