  1. Actually, the last-year enrollment figures I saw had Henderson as the fifth-largest public school in the state, behind Scott County, Henry Clay, Eastern and Dunbar.
  2. The five teams that Rockcastle has beaten are a combined 5-17, and three of them are in lower classes. Neither does much to help their case. If they're competitive with Perry or beat them, they have a valid case for making the top 10.
  3. Johnson Central fielded a couple of pretty good teams before anyone had heard of Jude.
  4. In fairness, it was the Mayfield-Tilghman game in 2009 (TD on the Cardinals' first play and a 21-0 halftime lead) that seemed to light the fuse on some of the turmoil within Tilghman's program. The Tornado finally righted the ship in time for the playoffs, but to be honest, the Tilghman team that won the state title was no more talented than the team Mayfield beat in September. Tilghman might have been better aligned by that point. The Trousdale County win, in my opinion, is Mayfield's best regular-season win in several years. Trousdale is one of Tennessee's top small-school programs and was the defending Class A state champion. It was also big in the way Mayfield won, coming back from a 20-0 deficit in the second quarter, and Trousdale went on to repeat as state champs.
  5. Yeah ... resigned at Male in the spring and was hired at Western Hills over the summer. Coached for several years in Illinois before that.
  6. Four times ... state championship games in 1995 and 2002, and semifinals in 2009 and 2010. On the other side, Mayfield is something like 1-7 against Danville ... the Cardinals beat them in the 2002 semifinals but lost to them several times in championship games (87, 89, 91, 92) and at least two or three times in the semifinals.
  7. For some reason, I didn't remember it ... I looked it up and it became clear. That was the game the year after the one that was stopped by lightning.
  8. 7 ... Carroll County 5 ... Cooper 3 ... Boone County 2 ... Dayton 1 ... Owen County Cooper
  9. I think anything is fair game in the first half ... I've heard some complaining this past week about Lone Oak throwing for a touchdown late in the first half with a big lead on Reidland, but I think most coaches take the approach that the second half is where you start to let off the gas.
  10. Ludlow was the Class A state champion in 1975 ... would they have played each other back then?
  11. Paducah Tilghman went to 26-0 against Lone Oak earlier this year.
  12. 7 ... Woodford County 5 ... Danville 3 ... Lafayette 2 ... Western Hills 1 ... Montgomery County Danville
  13. How does Hines trash Somerset?
  14. 7 ... Meade County 5 ... Madisonville 3 ... Warren East 2 ... Glasgow 1 ... Bethlehem Warren East
  15. I think Mayfield and Tilghman will tell you they are each other's biggest rivals. Graves County might be #1B for Mayfield, and Graves also has a big rivalry with Marshall County. Other pairs of note in this neck of the woods ... Christian County-Hopkinsville, Murray-Calloway County and Fulton City-Fulton County. Crittenden County looks at Caldwell County as their biggest rival, but if you ask the Caldwell people, they might tell you it's Trigg County.
  16. I was very surprised when Beechwood beat NewCath last year, even more so after I saw NewCath win the 2A state title.
  17. I didn't "assume" anything and I'm not involved in any "taunting" ... if you want to call out someone, take it somewhere else.
  18. Tilghman also had about 5-6 starters out for their game with Graves County ... I suspect the Tornado is still the team to beat in the district and region.
  19. How would I know, Crunch? I don't know anyone with any sense that expects Mayfield to have an easy time with Beechwood, assuming they meet each other.
  20. The KHSAA fears that classes in basketball will have just the opposite effect, that state tournament attendance will be adversely affected. No other sport has much of an impact, financially. I'm not saying that money was a primary reason for making the move, but I suspect the football finals probably bring in a little more money than they did before with 12 teams coming to one site instead of eight.
  21. It may not have been driven by money, but 12 schools in the state finals (50 percent more than were there before) should translate to more money coming into the KHSAA coffers. As far as I'm concerned, the KHSAA benefitted financially and some coaches and programs benefitted by watering down the playoffs.
  22. So ... are you saying that Trinity wouldn't hesitate to run up the score on Scott County, given the opportunity?
  23. I think Fort Campbell wins by a couple of touchdowns.
