Present Playoff Format Nearing An End?
Personally, I like the bye week for the flexibility in scheduling, although some of that has been lost with the scheduling grid.

Present Playoff Format Nearing An End?
The later it gets, the better chance for inclement weather at the state finals.

Monroe County / Trigg County predictions
I expect Monroe to win by a couple of scores ... they'll be tough to beat at home.

Present Playoff Format Nearing An End?
Because football is different than every other sport in that teams can only safely play one game a week. It takes five weeks to play the postseason. No other sport takes that long.

Present Playoff Format Nearing An End?
I think a lot of us had gotten accustomed to having four teams per district in the old four-class setup, but 6x4 is a little too much to stomach.

Warren Central/Graves County Predictions
By extension, those teams are relevant in the debate, espeically if you're talking about Meade County and Ballard.

Another key Beechwood injury?
Every football player is a single play away from an injury ... it's the nature of the sport.

Warren Central/Graves County Predictions
Ballard was never 1-7 ... they are currently 4-6 and just beat a district co-champion. That's what happens when you look at records and don't take into account the schedule that record was compiled against. I dare say that Ohio County and Graves County would struggle to have a record as good as 4-6 against Ballard's schedule.

Warren Central/Graves County Predictions
Are you saying that Graves County and Ohio County are comparable to Meade County and Ballard?
-
Warren Central/Graves County Predictions
Warren Central hammered Fort Campbell, while Christian County barely squeaked by them. Christian barely beat Ohio County and Graves County, teams that Warren Central would beat handily. The same might could be said for Lone Oak.

Warren Central/Graves County Predictions
So Warren Central lost to Bowling Green ... and that automatically puts them below Christian County? I don't know if Male is a top-10 team or not, but all of their losses are to teams that were ranked at one time or another in one class or another. Who would you put above them?
-
Warren Central/Graves County Predictions
So ... you rate teams just on their record? There was plenty of evidence that Warren Central was clearly better than Christian, even before they lost their last game. Of course, Christian was missing a few starters in that game, too. Warren Central should win easily ... just too much speed and talent. Rogers will take it easy on his old program and a coach that he is friendly with.

Beechwood 29 Newport Central Catholic 20
Tilghman's quarterback was knocked out late in the first half, with Mayfield already holding a 17-6 lead. Yeah, it's a win worth hanging their hat on, because Tilghman is one of the top three teams in 3A, just as is the NewCath win for Beechwood because NewCath is probably the best 2A team in the state.

Louisville Holy Cross 1A State Champions
Bishop David was an all-boys school. Angela Merici was the all-girls school in the area. It's my understanding that they merged because of declining enrollment. Holy Cross is on the west side of town, on Dixie Highway about a mile south of the Watterson Expressway.

Louisville Holy Cross 1A State Champions
One thing we saw from Holy Cross a year ago, in games against both Paducah Tilghman and Mayfield, is that they don't match up well against teams with speed. Mayfield isn't as explosive as they were last year, obviously, and Holy Cross might be a bit better than that were last year. On the other hand, Holy Cross would have to make the three-hour road trip for the game. The gap between Mayfield and Holy Cross isn't as wide as it was last year, but there is still a gap.

One of the best teams in the west may be Hopkinsville ... lots of talent, but much of it is young.

Another key Beechwood injury?
From reading a media account of the Beechwood-NewCath game, I see where Max Nussbaum left the game with an injury. What is his prognosis? I'm hearing rumors of a possible concussion, but hope it's less serious than that.
