Louisville Holy Cross 1A State Champions

Can they make this happen?

We hear nothing about them on any forums

Are they for real?

I know they are mainly a running team but do they have a decent passing game and can they win against Mayfield and Beechwood back to back?

I was curious a couple of weeks ago and watched them on video. Solid but not as quick as MF or BW. Better running than passing but did throw on occasion. Solid back but not as fast a Vocke and Nussenbaum and not as strong a runner as Jackson. Line play is pretty good. Can they yes but they are likely not to quite as good as MF or BW. All that said, it's sorta like my trying to stack up BW from 500 miles away, I think I know how good they are but in truth they are so far away and don't play any common foes so who really knows

One thing we saw from Holy Cross a year ago, in games against both Paducah Tilghman and Mayfield, is that they don't match up well against teams with speed. Mayfield isn't as explosive as they were last year, obviously, and Holy Cross might be a bit better than that were last year. On the other hand, Holy Cross would have to make the three-hour road trip for the game.

The gap between Mayfield and Holy Cross isn't as wide as it was last year, but there is still a gap.

Mayfield is hard to beat especially at home.

I think this could be a pretty good game, if LHC could somehow grind out the game and keep the ball away from Mayfield, they may have a shot, i think they have most of their team back and they did come out and smack Mayfield in the mouth at the start of the game last year and had us on the ropes, however, its gonna be hard for them to move the ball if they cant throw, they probably will have some luck on a few drives pounding the ball but can they do it for the whole game? I doubt it but if they manage to I dont think they can beat two teams in a row with the callibur of speed that Mayfield and Beechwood posses.

Just a few questions about LHC. Was the school once named Bishop David? If so, why the change - merger of all-boy & all-girl schools? What part of the city is HC located? N, E, S, W?

Thanks

Bishop David was an all-boys school. Angela Merici was the all-girls school in the area. It's my understanding that they merged because of declining enrollment.

Holy Cross is on the west side of town, on Dixie Highway about a mile south of the Watterson Expressway.

I noticed today that LHC was #2 in the LIT ratings. So maybe people are somewhat overlooking them. I have seen them on youtube and while they look physical they don't look especially fast.
