I agree, Western should be out after the past 2-3 weeks performances, or, lack thereof.. Rockcastle Co deserves to be ranked..

Rockcastle Co deserves to be ranked..

 

Why? Their only good win was against a 1A Frankfort team that isn't nearly as good as they've been in the past. The other wins are nice in name, but the teams have a combined record of 3-14, records far below what those teams usually have. If Rockcastle County is as good as many think (and I tend to think they are), we'll see this weekend against Perry County Central.

If Rockcastle were simply sliding by the opposition, I'd agree, but, they're doing it week in, week out in impressive fashion. Western has been very subpar the past few weeks and even though they've played the better competition, they've not really been even competitive.

 

Is N.Oldham getting any consideration in the polls? They've also been pretty solid.

I agree with the top 5. Where is this Rockcastle team I am hearing abt from a couple of H.S. Football junkies?

I agree with GCHS. Rockcastle has been getting a lot of love across the board from the other polls. (#5 AP 4A) The teams they have beaten have not necessarily been bad teams, but, the Perry game will tell a lot. They are 5-0 and at least their fans are very high on them with the great LB in Robinson. The Lakers of Russell County the following week will also be a good measuring stick with Britt carrying the ball. Both of these teams are undefeated after facing pretty good competition. Let Rock slide under the radar, I have no problem with that at all.

The five teams that Rockcastle has beaten are a combined 5-17, and three of them are in lower classes. Neither does much to help their case. If they're competitive with Perry or beat them, they have a valid case for making the top 10.

Unfortunately North has been getting very little respect. Despite wins over two 5A teams (Oldham and South Oldham) and a good CAl team the reality is that Win/Loss ratio of the beaten teams make it easy to forget about this very capable Mustang team.

I suppose it's not unfair for many to be waiting for the Mustangs to meet up with Collins in a few weeks to find out how North measures up with a higher caliber team.

Nation, Oldham is a 6A team. You are right Collins will be a good test for your Stangs. Unfortunately you will not pass the test. Too many good players at a lot of positions.

Russell County is having a good season and can do some damage in their district. My question is who would you replace Russell County with in the poll?

 

#10 Madisonville North Hopkins is 4-1 with their only loss to #3 5A Christian County

#9 Franklin Simpson is 4-1 with their only loss to #4 5A Warren Central

#8 Ashland Blazer is 5-1 with their only loss to a West Virgina Team

#7 Western is 2-2 but wins over Louisville Male and Ballard and the losses coming to 4A #1 Highlands and 3A #1 Central

 

IMO Russell County will be ranked if they can pull off a win next week in Mt. Vernon against Rockcastle County. I know I will be following that game closely.

Russell County and Rockcastle County are both in the same boat for me. I honestly believe that both of them are Top 10 teams, but they just haven't really beat anyone of any caliber right now. Much like Rockcastle, Russell's wins look better on paper than in real life. Marion County, Whitley County, and Pulaski County aren't as good this year as they usually are. Russell County will have a nice opportunity to make themselves known when they take on Rockcastle County next week.

I disagree with #2 and #3. Lexington Catholic put 37 on a John Hardin defense that blanked Boyle. Lex Cath may very well shock all of 4a this year. If they meet the Birds, it looks to be a shootout for the state title.
