The people there are not stupid, just poor. Very, very sad situation. Can you imagine not having any financial recourse but to return to your home and then putting your kids in a bath tub? Sounds like a Grisham book in the making.

I feel bad for the people who live in Palestine. From what I can see on TV, it looks like a lower income neighborhood. They were all told it was safe to go back home, with little clean up and soil soaked in oil. Many people have wells. Doesn’t sound like they are getting much help and even less information. I can’t help but think that if it happened in a wealthier neighborhood, there would have been a better response to the problem. I am usually not a litigious person, but I hope the community unites and finds a really good law firm.

Bernie Barre only got to see a handful of his son’s games.

Bernie Barre and another Beechwood great, Jim Proccacino, both came to Beechwood the same year as student teachers and stayed. Bernie was Fred Mariani’s assistant coach for the 74 team that was the first Beechwood team to go down state (but lost). He also was then the assistant for Jeff Slagle’s one year as coach the following year, and became HC in 1976. FWIT, I also heard that none of the assistant coaches want the job.

I definitely think the ideal candidate would be a teacher in the building. To just have the coach in the building at times during the day is different from interacting with the students all day in the classroom. With Noel, it just wasn’t about the boys. He taught my daughter and she loved him. He has such an unassuming way of making kids think they can do anything. That particular part of his magic will be hard to replace. That being said, if the ideal candidate needs a job, I imagine the school will find one.

He is a great guy and certainly deserves some relaxation. Big shoes to fill. I remember when Bernie Barre left, I thought no one could be any better. Then came Mike Yeagle and I thought the same thing when he left. Now I feel that way about Noel. Hopefully the program will continue to grow and succeed.

Proud to say I am here at KC. Really wonderful people here. Very gracious and yet appropriately challenging. Hopeful for a win and even more hopeful that I packed enough warm clothing!

His recovery is a testament to the team immediately starting CPR, and most importantly, having a defibrillator at the scene. Such an awful thing to happen, but he had the best of the best caring for him. It is so great to have a feel good story that the whole nation shares.

I was a cheerleader the first time Beechwood went down state in 1974, dating the guard who I would eventually marry. We lost. 10 years later, my brother was on the 84 team. It was the second time Beechwood went to state and the first win. My youngest brother was on that team. He has never let my husband forget who won state and who didn’t.

Totally agree. Kickers should be coached accordingly and hopefully make adjustments during practice. I am sure the overall thrill for high school teams to play in a college stadium far outweighs any goal post issues.

I spent a several years absolutely FRUSTRATED with Mayfield who was a huge thorn in the Tigers side. Easy to hate. Prior to todays game, two Mayfield fans stopped us to say how much class Beechwood had. Then we went into the game to see the appreciation plaque awarded, and God help me, it made me cry a little. Very classy and kind on Mayfield’s part. I have a whole new appreciation/affection for the rivalry. Look forward to playing again. Still want Beechwood to win, but a future Mayfield win won’t make me lose any sleep anymore.

Just read on Twitter that Beechwood won their last 4 championship games by a total of 5 points.

What a game! A nail biter to the end. I don’t understand why Mayfield didn’t give #24 the ball more often. He is a beast and gave the Tigers all they could handle.

Can’t wait! I am one of the few people who can say they have attended every Beechwood State game, and I certainly do not plan on missing this one. Safe travels to all and hope for a good, clean fight!

Totally agree. If it gets an athlete a better scholarship I could see it, but what if he gets hurt during that extra year in high school? What kid actually wants to do an extra year of high school? I would think most kids can’t wait to get to college.

Does anyone know if we will be allowed to tailgate, like the old Louisville days? Last couple of years have been so Covid restricted that we could not get into the parking lot until an hour before the game. Would love to get in early with my world class chili.

Tend to agree, especially considering Ft Mitchell is very Catholic and Cov. Cath is a big draw.

I would agree that a Mayfield win would be a great Hollywood story, and I imagine that most non Beechwood people are pulling for them. I know I would be if Beechwood was out of contention. Still, I think this is the year that Beechwood breaks the Mayfield curse. Tigers 21-14.

Thought this game would br closer. Congratulations to the Juggs for a great season. Lloyd’s program is definitely heading in the right direction. let's go Tigers and take on dreaded Mayfield!
