    My Dad

I lost my mom when she was 57. I was young and now have so many questions I wish I had asked, and so many recipes I wish I had asked for. If you are still lucky enough to have your parents, don’t let this time get by!
  4. Wish I could help. I struggle to grow grass.
  5. And the patrons are so much better looking too, or so I have heard!
  6. The Saddle Club is a great place to get information….or so I have heard.
  7. The Saddle Club has a nice outdoor smoking section. I think there are enough Beechwoodfans there who can put a right proper smoke signal out.
  8. He was tried and convicted twice, so you gotta trust those jurors. I do find it interesting that it was apparently a very messy murder but I am pretty sure they never found any traces of blood on him or in his car. Seems to me that even if he changed his clothes and shoes, they would find blood on or around him.
  9. I worked in a hospital during the outbreak with mentally ill people. Most of my patients couldn’t or wouldn’t wear their masks, and certainly did not cover their mouths and noses when they coughed or sneezed. Even hand washing was a challenge for most. I can’t count how many times I was directly exposed. Never got it once. The mister, who was equally immunized, has had it 3 times, but was only sick once. Maybe all those years of getting exposed to a multitude of things super fortified my immune system. Regardless, I feel pretty lucky. Question to those who have lost their taste…do you eat/cook differently? I would like to think that, since I lost my taste, I would eat all the healthy vegetables that I hate, and be my former thin self. I have a friend who still can’t taste, but they say those things still hold no appeal and they eat like they always have.
  10. The people there are not stupid, just poor. Very, very sad situation. Can you imagine not having any financial recourse but to return to your home and then putting your kids in a bath tub? Sounds like a Grisham book in the making.
  11. I feel bad for the people who live in Palestine. From what I can see on TV, it looks like a lower income neighborhood. They were all told it was safe to go back home, with little clean up and soil soaked in oil. Many people have wells. Doesn’t sound like they are getting much help and even less information. I can’t help but think that if it happened in a wealthier neighborhood, there would have been a better response to the problem. I am usually not a litigious person, but I hope the community unites and finds a really good law firm.
  12. Bernie Barre only got to see a handful of his son’s games.
  13. Dang! You are right! It was Slagle and then Mariani! Man, when the long term memory starts to go…..
  14. Bernie Barre and another Beechwood great, Jim Proccacino, both came to Beechwood the same year as student teachers and stayed. Bernie was Fred Mariani’s assistant coach for the 74 team that was the first Beechwood team to go down state (but lost). He also was then the assistant for Jeff Slagle’s one year as coach the following year, and became HC in 1976. FWIT, I also heard that none of the assistant coaches want the job.
