For Valentine’s Day

One surprising thing

I had a very interesting conversation with an MD who also had a phd in epidemiology. He feels, as we all so, that Covid is here to stay and, like the flu we should get a yearly vaccine.. He also said that he would not hesitate to get his 2 year old vaccinated because the mRNA technology has been studied for decades. On the bad side for me, he said there is a big push for all health care workers to wear masks from now on, as it has been proven to stop the spread of flu and other contagious diseases. Wish I had more time to talk with him as he was very interesting.

I can’t believe it! The mister and I got Super Bowl tickets! May have to defer retiring a bit but I don’t care!

I am not very good at uploading stuff, but am going to try. These are my 3 favorite pictures from yesterday. The first is Arrowhead Stadium on the left which is right next door to the Royals baseball stadium. The second is a picture of my favorite outfit at the tailgate, Bengal Jesus. I can’t tell you how much fun it was to be in KC and watch this game in person. What a thrill and a privilege! I was particularly taken back when the National Anthem was sung. The audio kept blanking out and the crowd missed a lot of the singer’s voice. Instead, the crowd began singing it more loudly than I have ever heard at a sporting event. I don’t know if the Chief’s fans always sing like that, but it was very moving. Secondly, , I cannot tell you how many KC fans went out of their way to come up to us to congratulate us and wish us luck. I did not see one incident of ugly, poor sportsmanship. KC fans are truly classy people. On a note that may or may not offend others…We went to the tailgate party before the game which was awesome. There were a limited amount of port o let’s, and we were on a grassy hillside. Someone threw a Steelers hat up on the hill in the tall grass. There were quite a few fellows who visited that hat for good luck. Not judging. Personally, I thought it was hilarious and apparently it worked!

Well, I am not a barbecue expert, but KC is known for one specialty, “burnt ends.” They take the the ends of the brisket and cook them till they melt in your mouth. Sauce was nice and thick. The sides were a little different too. Had cheesy corn and baked beans. I don’t know what all was in the baked beans but they were the best baked bean I have ever had. I will say that everyone we have run into from KC has been very friendly and give a lot of good natured trash talk. We are having a wonderful time!

I am in Kansas City now with tickets to the game. Had a wonderful time yesterday. We walked around town, spent time in a local bar, and ate some delicious KC barbecue. I am so excited for the game today! Who Dey!

I can tell you this, if hospitals are getting paid 20% more for Covid patients, they are earning it. Covid patients take an extraordinary amount of time and resources. They are paying a LOT of overtime and bonus money to get employees to work extra shifts. Morale and burnout are at an all time high. At the same time, hospitals are losing out on their bread and butter via cancelled elective surgeries. No one wants life to be back to normal than hospitals.

We have been very blessed during the pandemic. So weird because the same people we were here with last year with Covid, were here with us again. Some of our best dinners were cooked at home under the cover of Covid. Ate well, watched movies Gotta make your own fun.

The mister and I go to Florida every Jan. He got Covid last year and dammit, he tested positive again this week. Housebound for a few days, but he made an amazing Beef Wellington for dinner. The filling over grew the crust, but it was delicious.

Supply and demand.

Well, I am a first line person. I have been around long enough to understand why medical people don’t want to take rushed, unapproved or quickly approved FDA medications, including vaccines Sometimes there are things medical professionals have studied about or seen that other people have no insight to. I once worked on a research unit, and totally get it. Those of us who have worked long enough have seen a lot of weird things Those who haven’t, have been taught enough or heard enough to challenge authority. I personally chose to get vaccinated, but completely respect my co workers for choosing not to get vaccinated. I guarantee you that any unvaccinated health care worker, knows and practices far more protective measures toward his/her patients, than the average every day vaccinated person (who may also be contagious). Health care workers are more informed than anyone about Covid. To demand that he/she get vaccinated when you do not know their professional/ educational/ personal experience is wrong IMO. Lastly, the chance of finding a health care worker who has not acquired, at least herd immunity, at this point is unlikely.

Well, any habitual pot smokers out there want to weigh in? Not sure if you can because technically, it’s illegal activity, but it would be interesting to know.

I take a multivitamin, vitamins C and D, Zinc and Tumeric.

As well as those of us who are ready to move on, accept the risks, doubt the statistics, and are tired of the hysteria.

Lol, I have been taking D prior to Covid. The mister had some arthritis issues. His doctor recommended taking it so I did too. I plan on living forever!

Just remember, I am not a doctor. I just play one on BGP!

I remember when this pandemic first started, reading that the reason the virus was so bad was because the human body didn’t recognize it and therefore had no defense for it. As the virus mutates it would become “more human”, meaning our body would recognize it making the virus less virulent with each strain. That being said, I can’t quote the source, so I can’t say how true this is. However, I like to think there is some truth to it. My brother just got the virus for the third time. Not sick, just tested because he was going to be around our elderly father. It truly is everywhere, but oddly enough, I am not as concerned as I was two years ago, and I take care of Covid positive patients at work. There is only so much you can do, and I don’t want to hide in my house. I got vaccinated, and take extra vitamin C and Zinc, and wear a mask when I have to.
