Score in 2002 was 31-24, Highlands. It was a pretty good game, hardly a blow-out. I don't know who will win this week so I'm planning on going to the game. Both teams have had great seasons and I'm happy they have the opportunity to play the day after Thanksgiving. I'm not sure I'd tag the Catholic team of 2005 the best ever talent wise (with a few notable exceptions), but they came together as a TEAM, and got it done. Good luck to both sides! Let's hope the weather is good and nobody gets hurt.

LexCath was 4A in 2008. They did not play Highlands in the play-offs. (5A).

It was 2005 when LexCath blanked Highlands and went on to win their first state title.

Is Bell County the place where they have baked potatoes? I haven't been there recently but remember the food being really good.

He'll be a sophomore this fall. Attended Catholic schools all the way up to high school..definitely not a "transfer"

A question for the Bell County fans-- were there any "presents" on the visitor's side of the field? Last year during the play offs we sat in ketchup, this year we smelled a combination of deer urine and manure. It's a shame some Rebel fans are such poor hosts. It detracts from the team and town. We weren't treated that way at Lone Oak.....

Most of LC's JV team from last year are now varsity starters. There are several freshman playing on LC's JV team this year.

Lex Cath beat St X in 2003 and had a close game in 2005...otherwise it's been like last night's game...hot, muggy, and thoroughly manhandled. On the bright side we usually come out of it OK in the long run... but it looks like the old nemesis, Boyle County, is back on track this year....

I doubt it, but they should, since LexCath is 4A, not 6A. There is a reason for classes, you know?? Cath plays up to get ready...an example Fayette publics should follow. RE: Game with Trinity. I was rooting for Henry Clay, since it's a Lexington school, but in my heart I knew what the outcome would be. Discipline and coaching usually win out.

4th Quarter I'll stick with my observation that the little school on Clays Mill is usually the best in Lexington, not Louisville. In the past six years we've beaten Male (defending 4A champs), St X, Boyle (Defending 3A Champs), Highlands, Covington Catholic, Bowling Green, etc. etc. etc. It's the only team in recent memory in Lexington to have a state title. The last, and only, time they played Henry Clay, guess who won? LC! Like you, I wish the publics in Fayette county would play us. That would settle this discussion and be a win-win for all Lexington schools.

Winning a championship doesn't get you "Mr. Football" (or for that matter even playing most of your HS career in KY)...think back to last year's finalists and the ultimate winner.

Oldone, the remark about class or lack thereof is uncalled for. I can understand being upset with a last minute loss when you think you're going to win but to cast the "classless term" over people you don't even know is pretty juvenile. If Franklin County had won the game I would be rooting for them to go all the way as I did for the numerous schools who beat Catholic in playoff games over the years.

LexCath was fortunate to win last year. It could have easily gone the other way. CovCath is always a tough/close game. The outcome will hinge on how well the o-line (LC) performs and the kicking game. The Knights need to play like the champions they are from the get go.

Oldone, we may have a different perspective, but the officiating in the game definitely did not favor Lexington Catholic. Take a look at the stats in today's paper! FC played well the first half and built up a lead (32-7) that most probably thought would win them the game. At half time the Knights decided they wanted to play football, came out and dominated the second half. I guess that's why you play four quarters and then some to decide the outcome. No excuses; it's over. Franklin County had a great year. Good luck to their seniors as they move on.

LexCath pulled a huge surprise upset in 2003 over St X. There are too many unknowns on both teams to predict how it will go tonight. GO KNIGHTS!!!!!

It was pretty evenly matched from what I saw. PRP ran the ball pretty good. Catholic adjusted later to the run. They got burned on a couple of passes but the starting corner was out due to baseball.

Well, that is already practice in Kentucky, but it is for either all boys or all girls schools. Lexington Catholic is Co-Ed.

That post about how bad the public schools are in terms of drugs and such should make many people question why parents send their children to Lexington Catholic.
