He didn't really standout last night. Michael Davenport (#32) played well and was the most impressive player on the floor. They have 4 or 5 guards and 4 posts that they rotate in and out and they can all play.

I believe this is the "Boys Basketball" threads, right? Same reason people near Ashland post Huntington scores when they have a great team there and people in Louisville might post about an Indiana team if there was a great team or player across the river from them. If this website was restrict to things in Kentucky only, it would be pretty lame. :thumb:

Final game of the regular season and playing for the GCL crown at St. X tonight. Great game, not sloppy, or overly physical for a game in which there were only 73 points scored. If you ever get an opportunity to a GCL South game during the regular season (at one of their home gyms), then you definitely should. The GCL South is 4 Super-Sized CovCaths that just beat each other up 6 times (at least) every year--that goes for their play, their student sections, and home court atmospheres. St. X jumped out 5-0 early and led 13-9 after one quarter. Moeller (ranked 9th in USA Today's Super 25) rallied in the 2nd quarter and tied it at 17 at the half. Moeller had a 5 point possession during the 3rd to pull ahead 29-24 and led 32-25 after the 3rd. St. X hit a 3 to start the 4th and scored again to make it 32-30 with about 5 minutes to play. Moeller's defense stepped up again and they pulled away down the stretch to win 41-32. St. X played a 2-3 zone for 3 1/2 quarters and really slowed Moeller down and gave themselves a shot to win. Great ball game!

If one of the jumpers touches it and then it hits the floor, it's a live ball. Was there another violation called against the guy who got the ball (travel or over and back)? That would be possession by jumper A, turnover, and Team B would get the ball AND have the arrow.

Then the official will tell the player to pick the ball and give it to them. Not a good idea. Look around until one of the other officials are looking and pass/hand them the ball.

What exactly DID he teach?

Seed in the odd years and draw in the even years. A district like this will never seed and other districts will never draw but you can't blame them for doing it. What so wrong about? So, you'll get 2 "bad" games in the first round of the regionals instead of 1. It's just as wrong to have a district winner have to face the Holmes/CovCath loser, isn't it? The split up of the 34th and 35th Districts is more of a joke than the 36th drawing.

That first one is actually a "good" one by his standards....the "yips" CAN and WILL get worse... :eek:

Agree. Getting it on the green as soon as possible is the general rule of thumb. The pros will use a wedge but they close the face, hit down on it more than most amateurs, and use a firm grip which enables them to spin the ball (i.e. Tiger's shot in which it....skips....skips...STOPS!) and it comes out low.

You're correct....getting my levels mixed up.

Technicals are shot immediately and the game resumes. The 2 technical FTs should have been shot and the game resume with the player's substitute shooting the FTs for the foul.

I'm sure every school has their own rules but a lot of the time this IS the case--either quarters played or number of games played in. As far as being embarassed to go in late in the game: the coach is in a lose-lose situation sometimes. Do you NOT put them in and have the parents complain about them not getting in? Do you put them in for 30 seconds and have them complain that it's an embarassment to go in that late? What's the cut off? 1 minute? 2 minutes?

For some schools it may have to do with receiving a Varsity letter. For example, you get a Varsity letter if you participate in 1/2 of the total quarters for a season. In this case, they could be doing them a favor.

Not knowing the whole situation in this thread I think there are a lot of questions but unfortunately I think sometimes you are right, it's just to try and run up some points or to make it look closer. If I can't press their starters, what good is it going to do for me to press their second team.

Where did it hit the other girl? How hard was it thrown? Did she "know" where she was throwing it or was it more blind luck?

Depends on how much green you have to work with. If it's a 35 foot chip with only 15 feet of green to work with, then you need a wedge of some sort (lob wedge would be best) to drop it near the edge of the green and not roll much. Ok, I guess that's obvious. If you're talking a 35 foot chip and it's just off the green with 33 feet of green then bump-and-run it--get it rolling on the green as soon as possible.
