The regional level really is not a draw. You get to be opposite your other team in your district, so a couple schools get drawn out and the others get placed in where they need to be. If your going to draw, then don't put any stipulations in it, if you draw out the team you just beat in the district, that is how it should be. Either way I still hate the draw, we could come up with a way to seed the Sweet 16 too and that would make for a great tourney. The best teams would end up getting a better game for their effort during the year. Seed in districts, draw out the region, and seed the sweet 16, that is what I myself would like to see happen. Would make for better games in the 2nd,3rd, and 4th rounds at Rupp. First rd games would be boring probably but the rest should be pretty good.

It really depends on which side you want to take.

If you go with a seed, you are almost guaranteeing that the two best teams will play for the championship whether it be districts or regionals and it makes the regular season match ups with those teams in your district and region more important.

If you go with a draw, you could end up with the two best teams meeting in the first or second round and not getting the match up everyone wants to see as the championship. Some say it doesn't matter whether they meet now or later but others would much rather see them in the championship. It also makes the regular season match ups less important since they mean nothing as far as a seed goes.

I think I have made it clear I am in favor of seeding the districts.

I think it's kind of ridiculous that NCC and Highlands have to play in the first round and one of their seasons will end early and a team like Dayton or Bellevue will make it to region and probably get blown out by 20 or 30 points.

The 4 winning teams draw for where they are in the bracket. Blind draw.

The two losing teams that are on the opposite side of the two winning teams than have a blind draw to determine their opponents.

There actually ends up being 3 blind draws at the regional level.

I agree. And think if it was seeded and a Bellevue knocked off a Highlands to advance, those guys would go down in history. Beat Dayton, well it's not quite the same.

Exactly what I was thinking. While some may think it's nice for the "little guys" to get a shot, when you really think about it, at the end of the year everyone wants to see the best teams. Not someone who got a chance because of luck of the draw.

I definetly feel for both NCC and Highlands. Both have had good seasons, Highlands especially and its a shame one won't get a chance to prove themselves at Regionals.

I am from a small school and used to really like the draw, but I am starting to want the seed more. I am from the 14th and now most of better teams are small schools so the seed wouldn't hurt as much. I do think though that whatever is decided all districts should do it. Either seed or draw.
