  1. Talent-wise, so would I. However, there seems to be a lot more going on with these teams than just their talent. KC has a lot of issues, and simply look like they do not want to play basketball. Lynn Camp is so undisciplined, and you never know what you are going to get from night-to-night. Barbourville is overachieving as usual; they could fall at anytime.
  2. Why are you guys picking on mathemagician? I picked the Tigers to win, as well. Hey, Les, pick one somebody your on size, pal!
  3. Lynn Camp has no discipline, whatsoever, and that leads to inconsistent play. I called this game, BTW. Didn't think the Wildcats could handle the win over Knox.
  4. I've been at three of their games since the Harlan County game, and this is a team that does not won't to be on the court. I believe they have internal issues, and that hinders their play. Miller is playing very pedestrian right now, and the other players are just tagging along. Maybe the coaching change wasn't such a good idea, after all.
  5. Looks pretty good! I would have South at the #2 spot, but other than that, I agree. I think South's win over PRP is more impressive than Clay's win over PCC - both were great wins for the 13th region, though.
  6. Share your secrets. I weigh 285, and would like to get to 225, but would much prefer an even 200.
  7. Very nice list. Waiting for Godot was on the brink of making my list. If I would have kept the sports books out of my list, it would have been in there. I really prefer Jean Paul-Sartre's No Exit, though.
  8. From what I have seen, Harlan County and South have the best freshmen in the region. That is a very good win for Harlan County, and may even propel them to an undefeated freshman season. Sanders is a tremendous player. He came off the bench against Corbin, and really sparked the team. He has been in the starting lineup ever since. I have yet to see Sears play, as I haven't see the Cardinals JV squad. I can't wait to see how the Harlan County squad develops over the next couple years. We know that South will continue to be successful, but Harlan County is still building a program. It should get interesting!
  9. In order of favorite... 1.) Chronicles of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez 2.) Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger 3.) Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck 4.) Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor 5.) To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee 5.) Bleachers by John Grisham 7.) As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner 8.) The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald 9.) The Metamorphisis by Franz Kafka 10.) The Trial by Franz Kafka 11.) The Stranger by Albert Camus 12.) The Education of a Coach (Bill Belichick) by David Halberstam 13.) The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway 14.) Go Tell It On The Mountain by James Baldwin 15.) Night by Elie Weisel Being an English major, I had to read most of these books in literature courses, but a couple are guilty pleasures (ie. football books). My favorite book, Chronicles of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, isn't as well known as the others, and isn't even his most popular book, but I love it! I suggest it for anyone.
  10. Looks like a foul to me. It looks like the kid in the white probably hit the arm before reaching the ball.
  11. As long as football player are contributing to Bell County's basketball team, they are always going to start slowly. From what I've been told, Bell has had some kids out, but has a very good team when they are all healthy. I think Harlan County has to be the favorite in that district right now, with Bell coming in at second, especially after HC's win over Breathitt.
  12. South controlled the game from the tip. I think the guard play and the depth at that position is the key for South. They are so active on defense, and really force the other team into bad situtation. I was surprised that South handled PRP's athleticism so well. PRP was fast and long, but it didn't phase South. Also, Watkins had a great game - 22 points with 17 coming in the second half. If he plays like that every game, South will be a tough team come tourney time. I noticed the coaches from the other district teams were all there tonight. That district has some great matchups!
  13. Got a call last night telling me about the win. I was a bit shocked, but Harlan County has started the season off on the right foot. Kyle Hogue is establishing himself as a legitimate top ten player in the region.
  14. Miller sat a lot in the first half. Seemed as if he and Coach Evans had some trouble. Miller came out of the locker room at half time red faced and teary eyed. I'm not sure what the issue was, but there was one. South did an excellent job defending him, face guarding him the majority of the game. Miller got very frustrated early and forced some jumpers. He also did not do anything on the defensive end and stood around a lot. Not a good night for Cody Miller, but I'm sure he will rebound nicely. :thumb:
  15. South should have won this game after battling back the way they did. I agree that they should have worked harder late in the game to get St. John the ball. I think tonight's game showed just how important Isaac Wilson is to the Redhounds - even more so than Madison Johnson at times. South worked hard to keep the ball out of Wilson's hands, face guarding him the entire second half. That was the key to the come back. I think South will end up being the better team. I think they showed last night that they have more talent from top to bottom, and can play more kids than Corbin. The guards that come off the bench for South all have a high motor, and bring a lot of energy. I look to see these two teams in the region finals once again. I can't wait!
  16. It is unfair that Harlan County won't get a chance to host the 13th region tournament. If you have not seen their gym, then you are missing out. Hopefully, something will change in the near future that will allow them that opportunity. With that said, I understand the points of the other schools in wanting to have the tournament at the Arena. You can't argue against the dollar amount each school will receive. At the end of the day, like anyting else, there are pros and cons about hosting the tournament at the Arena. No matter what the princinpals/coaches decided upon, not everyone was going to be in agreement. Might as well make the best of it.
  17. I can't wait until the Corbin vs. South game on Tuesday. If I worked for a newspaper, I would LOVE to cover that game! :thumb:
  18. I've always wondered why Henson's numbers are better than Russells. Do you think Henson really has 7,048? That would put Hayden on up the list.
  19. Please tell me they went for two, and didn't miss the PAT. I would hate it for the kicker.
  20. Good win for the Bears. They finished the season with one district loss. Now, we have to wait and see how this thing unfolds...
  21. Wow! This may not be good for the opposing district!
  22. This should be another great district game. I think the Bears will pull it out and move one step closer to hosting a home playoff game, and even capturing a district title. Harlan County - 16 Perry Central - 12
