Here is my argument about the "he played against lesser competition in 1A, versus playing against 5A and 6A competition" How is it possible that no one has broken theses records in 1A before, since they are playing weaker competition? And, how are all the records not held by 1A players, since they play against weaker competition? And, how come some of these records have stood for so long?

 

These records are hard to break versus your scout team, let alone versus other teams. A great career for Mr. Hayden.

Hayden would still be 7th and on the list...you are referring to 5th & 6th place on the list...and it does look like it is a mistake from the KHSAA record bookkeepers to me as well.

This record very likely will last longer than any poster reading or posting!!! That is amazing to break that old of a record by that amount, look at the other number below it, this is HUGE in Ky sports!!!

Hayden had a great career. Has he committed anywhere? Also on the season rushing yards, Rees mcShara will also be in there with over 3,000 this year.

I'd say the records aren't held by 1A player for a few reason.

 

First, by sheer numbers your elite players are going to come from larger populated areas. Secondly, if they don't, a lot of parents move them to bigger schools to get more exposure than they'd get at a smaller school. Third, most 1A teams don't as successfully execute a great offensive scheme like LCA. If he'd played for a team that ran the wishbone, wing-t, or just lined up in the I and gave it to him every play, he wouldn't have been as successful. Since LCA spreads the field and is also a threat to pass, it makes him that much more dangerous and increases his chances of success against lesser opponents.

 

Just my opinion. He had a great career. I'm sure he'll enjoy looking at his name atop some of those categories for a long time.

Hayden use to play in the wingt. I am not sure what year Rains went to the TFS stuff and it might have been around his freshman year.

 

If you live in certain area moving might be an option if you son attends a smaller school but in most cases moving so your son can play for a larger program is not an option. Considering many 1A schools are in rural locations (your not moving for many a social/economic) or are private (so the parent has alreayd made a choice on where th kid will play).

 

Size of the school has nothing to do with excution of scheme. Your ability to excute your scheme comes down to coaching and coach ability.

 

He reminds me of Jones-Drew as far as build and strength. Drew did just fine in HS playing in the split back veer.
