I've been to a lot of gyms in Kentucky and there's just something about the Fieldhouse that's special. And I LOVED officiating there!

Correct and just confirmed with someone close to the HC basketball program.

My motto when I officiated was "the most important game of the night is the one I'm getting ready to call." It didn't matter if it was the first game of the year between two bottom tier girls teams or the regional final or if it was at the smallest gym in the state or Rupp Arena. The kids I was officiating for that night had worked hard to prepare for the game and I felt like they deserved my best. I don't think of myself as a rare breed when it comes to officials. I think a lot of officials have the same thought process that I did.

This, although I prefer an orange with mine (and Maker's Mark instead of BT).

Anyone going to this one? If the weather cooperates I plan on going.

These two were supposed to play last night (Madison Central's Senior Night) and it was cancelled because the referees didn't show up. :no::no: How sad. Not sure who's at fault, but it doesn't matter. Communication is key by all parties.

High school golf in Kentucky has gotten a lot better in the past 20 years. I give credit to folks like Drew Conliffe and the entire KGA organization because of their summer tours. The thing is, your elite junior golfers in KY aren't playing many events in the state. They are literally traveling across the country to compete against the best in the country. The young man from Owensboro that won the state title this year has been competing across the country since he was 11 years old! Obviously not every junior golfer can do this, but summer golf tours have definitely made golf in KY a lot better.

With the conditions of BGCC, they played very well.

They quite possibly could be the best team in KY, at any level.

Reports from Bowling Green CC are that the golf course is VERY wet and VERY long. Players are playing the ball down, even though they are getting mud balls in the fairway and are taking relief from casual water "frequently".

I agree totally. Each association needs to have some type of performance test/showcase that all officials should have to attend before they step onto the floor for any level of basketball. I know when I worked in the BBA, we had weekly training sessions and the more training sessions you went to, the better you got and the better your schedule ended up being when they came out.

JV games for officials are used in the same manner they are for players in my opinion. It's a way to get better so you can work your way up.

That's why they are working non-Varsity games.
