  1. Ft. Thomas schools would not welcome this for many reasons.
  2. The only way this happens is if the state mandates those schools to combine. They will never choose to do it on their own. There is way too much community pride in Dayton and Bellevue.
  3. Great post!!! Dale Mueller built Highlands into the program it is today. The year before he got to Highlands, they lost in the second round of the playoffs to Conner and there were only about 30 players on the Highlands football team. The tradition was always there, but he took Highlands to a new level.
  4. Isn't there only 1 coach in Highlands history that did not win a State Title? I would assume, this is similar with Trinity. IMO, there are way more great coaches than there are great jobs. I think Dale is a great coach. He has turned Highlands into a machine and has taken the Highlands program to sights unseen. Prior to that, he was 11-19 in 3 years at Sycamore. Was he not a great coach at Sycamore? I think Chuck Smith is a great coach. He was very successful at Boyle County and he created a tradition of excellence at Boyle County. Boyle County dropped off after Chuck Smith left. Larry French did not win a title until he got to Boyle County. Without Chuck Smith turning Boyle County into a traditional power, French would most likely have not won a title at Boyle County. Mike Yeagle was also a great coach. He took Beechwood to unbelievable heights during the 90's. He also did this in the old 1A when you had to beat more that 32 teams. Since he left, they have struggled to win titles. Still a good program, but not Mike Yeagle good. Louisville Central had ZERO state titles until 6 classes came about. Scroggins is a good coach, but if there is still a 4 class system, Louisville Central would most likely still have ZERO state titles. Would he still be considered good without those titles? I sure hope so. If you put a great Coach in a bad program, they can over time develop a good program. Rarely do they succeed like Chuck Smith at Boyle County. You put a good coach in a traditional power like Trinity or Highlands, they are going to win titles. All of the guys listed are excellent coaches. Most of them also have GREAT jobs that would make many, many coaches in the state of Kentucky GREAT coaches.
  5. This will never happen. As much as the mantra of "wanting kids to play other sports" is stated. They will not create a new program that takes kids away from the off season program.
  6. I don't buy that these teams are scared to play Trinity. Trinity has exactly 1 school in the state of Kentucky that is similar to it. These games, win or lose, have no bearing on Trinity's ability to make the playoffs in Kentucky. Year in year out, Trinity would be lucky to make it out of the GCL unscathed. If the roles were reversed, Trinity would not be trying to schedule Elder or St. X. Also, Elder or X can find a school that is closer to play them, why would they choose to play a school 2 hours away?
  7. The wide receivers and the corners are the same 2 kids. The rb and the lb is the same kid. So they return 3 starters on offense and 3 on defense? The defensive line was what made them go defensively. Do they return any of those kids? Why are people so worried about their teams being respected from success the previous year? We see this often in college football. USC was so respected that they were pre-season #1 in the country. That respect didn't work out so well for them...
  8. Didn't NewCath win the All A Classic this year? That would be the equivalent of a 1A/2A State Championship in Football. How many times have they won the All A Classic?
  9. Boone is not a better job than CovCath to win a state title. Boone is a better job financially and that is about it. Usually parochial school guys stay within the parochial system and when they do venture out, it is a tough transition. IMO, it is easier to coach at parochial schools and the talent pool is unlimited.
  10. Yes they petitioned to be 5A, but they are now truly 5A enrollment.
  11. Boone will not be 5A unless the KHSAA changes alignment procedures. The numbers that will probably be used in the realignment are already out if the KHSAA holds true to the previous realignment procedures. Nothing will change much in NKY unless some teams around the state have some major enrollment increases. This year Campbell, Dixie and Boone are between 750 and 760 boys. Conner is 647, Cooper is 575 and Scott is 529. http://khsaa.org/reports/enrollments/2012and2013averanegschoolenrollmentbyalpha.pdf
  12. For winning more games? Yes For changing a culture? No
  13. Dr. Oliver Lucas changed the culture at Bryan Station, not Craig Yeast. Kenny Turner came in for 1 year and then Yeast took over. Normally a successful year 1 should give some credit to the previous coach. Year 3 and 4 show what the current coach has done and Yeast doesn't have anything like that on his resume. IMO, Yeast gets interviews and jobs because of his playing career at UK. He may be a great coach, but just hasn't been anywhere long enough to prove it.
  14. Thanks. Congratulations to Cole. Good luck with the Cats!
  15. Can you elaborate? He turned down full scholarship offers to FCS (EKU) or MAC schools or he turned down financial packages including football money from NAIA type schools (Georgetown, Campbellsville, etc.)? I am just curious. I can see him turning down an NAIA/D3 school in preference of the preferred walk on at UK, but IMO it wouldn't make sense to turn down full scholarships to EKU, WKU or MAC type schools.
  16. And made over 1 million dollars over the past 8 years. I'd clean that toilet.
  17. If true, Dunbar dropped the ball in a big way!
  18. I understand. My point was that getting a job coaching D1 football is not easy.
  19. I did not realize he had left Rowan County for Wofford. You are correct that going back to High School would be a step in the wrong direction.
  20. Getting a D1 job is much easier said than done.
  21. May happen, but usually not with much success.
  22. Would Coach Wagner need to take a job in the building at NewCath to make that happen? Wasn't that a factor when Coach Eviston was hired? I would foresee it being very difficult to teach at one school and be the head coach at another.
  23. Just a question... Are they saying that they want basketball to be a sport where nobody touches each other and when they do, it is a foul?
  24. Ding, Ding, Ding... To answer you questions... Football. Football. And, don't know exactly, but something related to Football. They also chose Highlands when they left CovCath because of... Football.
