  1. I know you need to go south on Bluegrass Parkway for a mile or so. I am not sure what exit though.
  2. Vi is great. What about Ron Welch? RW. He is a great man who would do anything for the young men of Highlands.
  3. Bob Schneider is the person from the NKFCA on the Board of football for the KHSAA. He was supposed to be the voice of the association and I am sure he did vote for no change!
  4. Did Tom say something wrong or incorrect? I do not think so. He was stating the fact that 4 classes or 6 classes does not matter. Especially if the same thing happens in 2007 as happened in 2005. A - Private vs. Public AA - Private vs. Public AAA - Private vs. Public AAAA - Private vs. Private With privates winning 3 of the 4. All he was stating is that the same thing will happen with 6 classes or 10 classes. Based on the distribution of public compared to private schools. There should NEVER be 5 Private and 3 Public schools in the championships. He is right. The realignment really does not matter!
  5. You all forget about this. He knows the landscape. All Northern Kentucky Coaches voted against the 6 classes. "We voted on this as a coaches association, and it was unanimous 18-0 that we didn't want it in Northern Kentucky," Simon Kenton coach Jeff Marksberry said. "I think we're just happy with how things are now. We feel like we compete.
  6. The 3-5-3 teams will rarely drop eight into coverage. Most of the time one of the LBs will sit at the line of scrimmage. 8 men are on the field, just not dropping into coverage every play. They can drop eight though which leaves only 3 rushers to the QB.
  7. KHSAA Bylaws State Helmet Only until July 15. Then Helmet and Shoulderpads only, but no contact. That is pretty black and white. Not much Grey area. Also, if a coach is going full pads in June, he is an idiot!!!
  8. It would most likely be a "blind draw" hosted by the school with the best following.
  9. Dayton wears nothing but Douglas custom Pro and Riddell Power shoulder pads and Revolution and DNA helmets. Cost is irrelevant when we are protecting our kids. They deserve the best equipment possible.
  10. That was only because he went to "the future" Shane Boyd over Lorenzen... J/K
  11. BB is in the same county as Dayton and Bellevue. It is about 15 minutes away.
  12. I would say that Trimble and Bishop Brossart would be switched.
  13. Maybe he just wants to get away from, "The Team From Ft. Thomas.":ylsuper: Why rip a guy for trying to better his situation? Personally I think that taking a job for one year and then bailing is pretty sad, but you cannot fault him for applying to other jobs. Who knows, maybe the big school in Ohio asked him to apply. As for Ohio being the Mecca! Overall Ohio football is better than KY football. Mainly because all of the D1 schools are the size of Trinity and X or bigger. The parity is much better also. In Division 2 Ohio they have had a different champion every year for 6 or more years. Kentucky on the other hand. 4A = X or Trinity every year, 3A Highlands or Boyle, Bowling Green, Hoptown, 1A Beechwood, NewCath, Mayfield, Danville. That type of domination does not happen in Ohio at any level.
  14. You are right. My point was the speed was still available. They were always strong.
  15. I agree. I am really not trying to discredit the coaches. I just think Ft. Thomas has a special kind of kid willing to do anything. If the coaches focus was on strength and size. The players would be big and strong. The focus is now on speed and quickness so the kids are fast and quick. Duffy focused on size and strength and the speed was still there with Grimm, Galichio(SP), Scarlotto among many, many others. I just think the kids in Ft. Thomas are naturally fast based on a lot of factors other than the weight program.
  16. Dixie and CovCath both have a lot of success due to their nutrition and privelege. Open enrollment in Kenton County kills Scott. Otherwise, they would be successful also. These are not the only factors, but look at other championship teams in the state. X, Trinity, Beechwood, NCC, Boyle and many others. Those kids are more priveleged to better diets and training outside of football training. I agree that they do a good job emphasizing speed and quickness. They are not overly strong though which causes problems. There is no doubt that speed kills!!! They have the right idea. I just do not think that the players speed and quickness is a result of the weight program. Other teams have some speed but not every school. It must be developed throughout the lives of each and every athlete. Playing sports outside school sports. Parents that drive to every athletic event and the kids play every sport they wish. THis does not happen everywhere. In this sense, Ft. Thomas, Ft. Mitchell, etc are very special places. You said it best that kids understand they must lose weight and become faster and quicker to play football at Highlands. I am from that same philosophy. If you cannot run well you will not play, unless I have no other players to use. Speed is the name of the game. I just really believe that at Highlands the chance to play football is so enticing that the kids will do anything and train their bodies to the max. I really feel that this fact has very little to do with the coaches and a lot more to do with the tradition of the program.
  17. Speed can be improved! Quickness can be improved! Yes, Highlands players are born with speed. Yes, the young men of Ft. Thomas are privileged to eat better diets which contributes to speed and strength gains. Parents in Ft. Thomas pay for extra training with Dave Guidugli or other speed and strength training. That is the culture. The weight program is not an outstanding weight program. The success of Highlands players in the weight room comes from wanting to become the next state champion for the 'birds. The players are not products of DM's weight program. I know you have seen the speed throughout the youth football program. The Kramer boy has always been lightning fast. The players are a product of a lot of things but mostly self and family driven hard work. The young men love Carrying on the "family tradition" of being a Highlands football player. In reality, from preparation standpoint, DM is one of the best coaches around. His kids are prepared in every big game played. One bad thing he does is he tends to overlook less fortunate teams and prepare for the next week because he does have superior talent. Example is South Oldham this past year... Dale has more talent year in and year out than any other team in the state(barring maybe X and Trinity). Highlands was better than Lex. Cath. this past season, but were outcoached. Not in preparation, but in making gametime adjustments offensively. Dale does a great job, but so have multiple other coaches at Highlands. The key at Highlands is to prepare your already football minded kids well and let them play. Put them in position to win and the players will find a way to win!!! Look at the very FEW losses throughout the past 11 years. Most of the time the birds were outcoached! I am very glad the spring game went well. Good Luck to the Birds!!!:thumb:
  18. Maybe NCC fans. The playoff game was ugly for the Tigers.
  19. Thanks Sticky. I was beginning to get a little teary eyed because people were picking on me:thumb:
  20. Week 10 2004. The field was not in very good shape, mostly dirt. I am NOT CRITICIZING Ludlows field. Just telling about my experience at the field.
  21. I have only seen Ludlows field in week 9. By then there is no grass what so ever. Everyone has an opinion.
  22. IMO Holmes has the best grass surface in NKY! Very Fast field.
