  1. It has nothing to do with high school sports. Have you ever applied for a job in order to test the waters and figured out you already have a pretty good job? This type of thing can rejuvenate a human being and make him/her do a better job. It should not be public knowledge though!
  2. I agree that the coaches most likely talked to their bosses. Do you think Ramsey told his team? Absolutely not! All this has done is ruined the trust his players have in him. 15 - 18 year old kids are too young to realize that this was not a sign of betrayal to them but just the coach trying to make more money, better retirement, etc... Look at Nick Saban. He is now a liar and a traitor because he denied the Alabama gossip. It does not matter that he did what was best for his team and squashed the rumors until the season was over. IMO, The reporter should not have made the open records request. He should have waited for the details to come out naturally. Just because gossip sites want to talk about it does not make it newsworthy. I have read about a keyboard that was broken and kept typing a "q" on the general board. Maybe somebody should send that to the papers. The biggest problem: 53 of the 54 guys will most likely go back to his old job. From there he will have to rebuild trust and repair any damage done with his player's morale. I have no dog in this fight so I am done with the conversation. Good luck to Coach Ramsey and the others who applied. Hopefully there will be no consequences and your teams will continue to believe in you!
  3. You are saying that applying for a job is newsworthy. I dont think so! This was a mistake by an ovezealous news reporter. That is why the list is gone and it is only a short article now. I think the reporter realized he was putting others jobs at risk. I think next time you apply for a job that the company should send a mass email to your employer. We will then see if your attitude about this changes.
  4. My question is: Why is applying for a job news worthy? The guy may be perfectly happy at Elder, but if the money or situation is right he will go to Mason. Do you think Siple is unhappy at Indian Hill? I doubt it. I have a real problem with this be public knowledge. Maybe post finalists for the job, but that is even pushing it. This is High school football, not the NFL or big time college. The reporter should be ashamed. Hopefully none of the coaches who applied will suffer at their current jobs. Kids could lose faith in their coach and that would be difficult to repair. I hope someone makes it public knowledge next time that reporter tries to make himself better and applies for a new job. What a shame???
  5. It is definitely a Graduate Assistant job.
  6. I will agree somewhat! They could compete, but would win very rarely. The reason Highlands is good every year is because they develop talent. All of those kids are not just exceptionally blessed athletes. So you are right. They could compete, but would be worn by the end and probably could not finish the deal.
  7. From the Enquirer prep blog site... Top Roger Bacon candidate? The name of John Rodenberg has surfaced among contenders for the vacant Roger Bacon football coaching job. Rodenberg, the former McNicholas head coach, guided Covington Catholic to the Kentucky Class 3A championship last Friday. Roger Bacon AD Joe Corcoran said he will not disclose any candidates' names, but several sources say Rodenberg recently expressed interest in the job. Bacon has had 18 applicants and will accept resumes through Dec. 15, Corcoran said. The goal is to have a coach by the first of the year. posted by Tom Groeschen at 11:42 AM 0 comments links to this post Here is the link: http://frontier.cincinnati.com/blogs/preps/
  8. I do! The only way to compete with X and Trinity is to have a High School with an equivalent amount of kids. 4000+ is pushing it, but 2400 to 3000 would not be too bad. By the way... this will never happen!
  9. Coach of the Year was Kentucky Football Coaches Association. You have to join this association. Some schools do not belong to the organization because they do not turn in the registration. You must be a member to be eligible for the District coach of the year award. The KFCA gives the award to a member school. The only thing I can think is that CovCath is not a member of the KFCA.
  10. I hope all of the people hyping Ryle and all of their players this week are fans and not players. If it is players then congrats on a nice season, but you are going to get crushed on Thursday night because you are obviously not focused on Trinity. If it is fans, well, I hope the kids don't believe everything they read. Murray is an outstanding football player. He is most likely not the best in Northern Kentucky since 1994. You are talking about multiple outstanding football players in Northern Kentucky over the past 12 years. Let's all agree that Ryle is having a nice season. Murray is the best player on Ryle's team. He also has huge holes to run through due to the blocking of his offensive line. He makes multiple plays defensively. We will truly see the type of player he is on Thursday night. Big players make big plays in big games!!! Good luck to Ryle and the rest of the NKY teams in the championships.
  11. Look at the schools. Not every team is represented in the All Northern Kentucky squads. By "pretty good" I meant kids that were on teams not as good, but could actually go to Highlands and CovCath and start. These kids do actually exist.
  12. All of the kids who made the team are deserving and should be commended for their performances this year. Sorry CovCath fans, but the coaches could not put your whole team on the all-northern kentucky team because there are multiple other football teams in Northern Kentucky who have some pretty good players also. Congrats to all of the First and Second team. You are all entitled to your opinion, but you should not pick and choose kids that should not be on the team. If you or your kid did not make the team. Tough!!! Go win the State Championship and then ask the kid how much he cares about being left off the All Northern Kentucky team.
  13. The system is terrible for 1A Northern Kentucky, 3A Northern Kentucky and 4A Louisville. It is great for the weak districts that would be knocked out before the regional finals.
  14. They did run the counter fake to Connor on the first play of the game. I just think as soon as the birds got down by 2 scores the game plan went out the window.
  15. The good games were this week. I believe you will see multiple blowouts next week!!!
  16. Dale was not holding out. The birds only run 5 or 6 different plays every game. I believe you will see some different things though. I think a majority of the changes will be defensively. I am rooting for the 'birds, but I am very concerned about being able to cover Bovard and Sutton. I don't think HHS has anyone that can shut them down like they did last year. Also, I think field position will win this game. If HHS has to drive 80 every drive they will have problems. They must keep CCH from crossing the 50. Once CCH crosses the 50 they can attempt a field goal and if they miss, the ball goes to the 20. I am rooting for the Birds!!!
  17. Congratulations to Coach Styer, his staff and his players.
  18. Beechwood has the better Defense! They are big strong and fast. The X factor will be Vicars. He is an outstanding football player who is very underrated. If Beechwood can contain Vicars. Beechwood wins!
  19. The article in the paper was wrong. They just did not do their research. It was the first winning season since 1996. Dayton has had a fine football tradition and was very dominant in the 50s 60s and 70s. This includes the 1966 Class A State Championship.
  20. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061006/NEWS0102/610060423/1058/NEWS01 Here is a link to a great article about Ryle football players Scott Gray and Vince Murray. It is really nice to see these two athletes reaching out to children with disabilities. The article really puts things into perspective! Great Jobs fellas! You are truly role models!
  21. What do you mean? Here is NCC's schedule so far: Belfry BGP Top 10 Ryle CovCath BGP Top 10 Cov. Holy Cross BGP top 10 Beechwood BGP Top 10 Dayton Newport AP top 10 Has Mayfield played a schedule this tough? They may be 2-5 against this schedule also!
  22. I SAY YOU CLUELESS! And Mercer is still a class bigger than 2A so I stick to my original comment.
  23. How about we merge Dayton Bellevue and Newport. Become a school that will be 5A next year and then stay in 2A. That is pretty fair. If Mercer County does not win the State Championship this year, they should fire the coach and never be allowed to talk or brag again. They are playing schools 3 classes smaller than them.
