Belfry Wins

First half Pikeville was in backfield alot but the pitch was working to the outside. Second half though we opened good holes and was running rather well just fumbled the ball alot. Gish you know how Belfry is they get better every week. Belfry had the players rapped up in the backfield alot but couldnt tackle them. A large reason is they were hitting high and you cant do that with a real good back. Coach Haywood though seen that and I guarantee you they will work hard on that this week. I was told he said on the pregame interview that his defense wasnt were they needed to be yet but they are improving and with Coach Haywood its get better each week and things will work out for themself. But we defintley do have to tackle better and hold onto the ball to make a run. Which I think were capable of.

What was the attendance # given tonight. By the way congrats to Trinity but you costed me 5 points so no Tshirt this week lol.

I agree its amusing me though. Both crowds were loud at times and quiet at times. Both teams were well represented by fans and all the fans there cheered for their team and was classy.

Pikeville had like about 20 more yards I think but dont quote me. I heard WPRG and Im looking at the stat book but not making much sense out of the book. Pikeville had 80 some I think around 86 yards and Belfry had 60 some yards. But Pikeville did have more penalties. I really wasnt paying alot of attention on WPRG but it sounded like 11 to 6 maybe but the yardage did survive me. I figured Pikeville had more yardage.

By the way they werent that much difference in the total penalty yards this game.

One guy got three in first half. The ref looked at him and goes that is 3 warnings. By the way #24 is one guy who is defintley classy and a good player. He was fun to watch to tackle him you have to hit him low and we didnt do that.

By the way win or loose you should shake hands with the other team. All the players were hugging and showing alot of class but they are no excuse to stand over by yourself because you lost.

Billy they was alot of warnings and alot of cheap stuff. Even Pikevilles Coach really got after a couple players hard on a couple different times for acting that way. He chewed them hard a couple times, why would you chew them out like that if they wasnt any. Its an emotional game but in order to wina game like this you have to keep your head cool and play smart. Pikeville is very talented but they let their emotion get to them and it did hur them alot this game. But both teams have a bright future ahead of them.

I never said he was he is a heck of a player he just has to keep emotions held in some. Its a big game and he wanted to win you have to like that about him. Good luck the rest of the season they will be fine the remainder of the year. And they will be in the top 10 before the year is over.

Pikevilel is a mountain top 10 but they have had a tuff schedule which is keeping them out of it right now. Its no big deal though they will be there by end of year. Zeus Im not saying he isnt good or a good person but you have to learn to keep those emotions inside. They are nothing wrong with being emotional but not that much. He is a good player though. Pikeville is much improved.

This team is very sound emotionaly we walk with a swagger we dont come out jumping and all that but we come out mentally ready to play. And we stay that way the whole game. When we was down 8 late in the game against Ashland we did the same thing we drove right down on them and punched it in and got the 2 point conversion. Alot of people dont agree but this team is improving alot and by the end of the season were going to be sucha force to recon with. We have alot of Sophmores on the field and as Coach Haywood said they arent were they want to be yet but they are getting there.

Nah Belfry is fine dont worry about them but that isnt what this thread is about. Congrats to Pburg heck of a game. I seen this one comming. SC hasnt played noone and they were guilty of looking ahead. Anyone who wears Belfry shirts to practice like Martin County paper said is looking ahead. Pburg is a much improved team and SC had them at Pburg and that is never easy task.

Yeah Belfry was r unning loose and had Pikeville wore down in the second half but just kept loosing the ball and they lost them in close to give Pikeville some good field position. As far as Pikeville goes they were better but I will say I was disapointed in them. They have always represented themself with class and they didnt tonight. Any time you send two guys everyplay to try and tke out a qb that isnt right. The radio said Pikeville played their best game of the year tonight but Belfry was to much and that was true. As far as the penalties I seen a few more that could be personal fouls and a player or two really should have been tossed. Belrys crowd was louder and we was all smashed in together and we was rowdy. A large part of that was due to taunting of our crowd by players and coaches which isnt smart of them. But I do believe the better team won this game by about how much they are better not much but some. Saying we would have won if it wasnt for this mistake and that mistake is useless because neither team has played a mistake free game. Belfry needs to tackle better we was in their backfield alot but we got to learn to get low. And we need to hold onto that ball. Were going to be fine this year though.

Belfry fumbles was earlier in the year that wont factor much into this game. Neither team can afford to fumble though. And the turf might be a little bit slick but both teams are playing on the same field same conditions so on turf it shouldnt really make a difference.

FIrst my take on the game and I am a peaceful person so nobody jump on my post real bad lol. First the gap has narrowed between the battle on the line but I still believe Belfry has the advantage. These guys are so quick its unreal and they are strong. And I have seen both teams play. And I dont think mentioning the last 5 is classless but it is important because the same weakness has been revealed in all 5 of the games. And Coach J has made good strides to improve that this year. As far as Harmon great back but Belfry done a pretty good job on Thomas from Ashland and he was a beast. Look for Belfry to do a good job not shut him down but slow him down. Pikevilles depth has improved but not as much as they need it to. Belfry is a deep team as always and the game will be close at halftime and Belfry will pull away late in the game with the W. Im not a coach or a player so I can say that. The team is very focused on the game so noone has to worry about that. If any team comes into this game overconfident then that isnt good and both coaches know better than to let that happen. IMO the key to the game will be Pikeville stopping Belfry. I believe if they are going to beat Belfry they have to make this a low scoring game because Belfry has a pretty stout D. That is easier said than done though. We have some good backs all the talk about Harmon and alot of ppl forget about Dustin May. Not to mention he has 2 excellent backs behind him and a good qb who passes well and runs excellent fakes. As all Pikeville fans do know its not easy (but possible) to slow Belfrys offesne down. I look for a good classy game from two classy schools and would be disapointed with anything less. I for one hopes Belfry wins this game and we both get to cheer for each other later on in Louisville.

Not being biased but you defintley have to consider Belfry. Our fans are amazing and travel well. Also with them its more than football its passion and a life. Thats like tomarow night they play Magoffin everyone knows it will be over when it starts but the stands will be filled. I reamember when we traveled to Lloyd we was in Florence Mall and every place we went people was asking me about our fans. Same thing for Middlesboro that year our bleachers was filled before the busses got their and it really intimidated Middlesboro. Also if I might add I think our fans do a good job of being classy. And that is something that any school should be proud of. Also another 2a school that probably should get some love for fans is Russel they seem to draw very good crowds.

Pikeville is good and they desperatley need Mayo back. Without Mayo I say Belfry will hand them a L. Especially if Belfry can keep passing game up. One team I believe will move up throughout the reaminder of the year is Middlesboro. In my opinion they should go unbeaten in their district.

Another one for Belfry is Andrew Elkins. He is a sophmore and has done great at DB and I look for him to have the opporunity to step up at QB now. He lead them very well against LC

Belfry will work on alot of things and pull away and win rather easily. But I do wish ER best of luck witht he rest of their season. They have the right coach in place I believe and this is one Pike Co. school Id really like to see make it into the playoffs in the next couple of years.

It went about like I figured from reading the post a great game which Bell could run on them but turnovers will kill ya ina game against a good team like HC.

After they scored is when Belfry woke up and played ball. When LC scored Belfrys players started playing harder and took over the game.

Belfry made a big change during the second quarter when trailing 6 to 0 and went with sophmore Andrew Elkins. He done an excellent job at qb even looked good throwing it. Belfry did play a sloppy game but it was expected with the rain. But we got to be pleased because Lawrence always plays us tuff and did early on but Belfry proved to be to much in the end. Yeah it does rain there but HC is defintley not a team designed for mud. Mud is probably the worst weather they can play in. And Bell may be over their head but I still was overwhelmed by HC's talent like I was last year. Im telling you Bell has a legit shot at this game.

Im sure the field will be in pretty muddy conditions and that will really take away HC's speed. Mudd alot of the tiems will make a more talented team not as talented. I know both teams are playing on the same field but Bell Co. pund it ball control is more suited than HC's speed for this type of weather. My big question is if Bell had trouble holding onto the ball in game 1, how will they fair at hanging onto the ball in the mudd? I think that can determain alot in this game.

Yeah I remember now that you tell me. Everyone from Belfry also be careful tomarow driving down on the slick roads. And for Belfry come out ready to play this week lets not dig ourself an early hole. How is LC's run D this year I havent realy heard.
