Belfry Wins

Belfry had a ruff shooting night to. But they drove to the basket well. Morgan was bigger than Belfry but Belfry hung in there played well and won it. Belfry has a good team dont underestimate them.

He should have followed Raymond Justice as the head coach. But atleast he finaly did get his chance and he is proving everyone that he does belong as the head coach.

I defintley think it would be a contest I could be wrong though. I havent seen Paintsville play this year. Belfry and SC are both very talented teams though and it was a great game. Both teams were making everything they threw up guarded or not. They both will go a long ways in the Region I think. I still think the Region is wide open though as much as ever before. And both these teams are 2 of the top contenders.

When Belfry is on they are hard to beat. They have the best guards in the region. They can both drop a bunch of points on any given night. Belfry and SC both will compete and challenge in the region.

Ill take Bourboun, Jenkins, Sheldon Clark, and Belfry victourious tonight. If Belfry and SHeldon Clark was both to win then that would be a good game tomorow night.

Id love to see that to. But they arent scheduled this year. I think this year would be a great year for them to play. Belfry does play at Ashland though this year. That should make for a great ball game. I always like to see Bell and ROck both be sucessful they are programs like Belfry with class, tradition, and old school football.

SV beat Mercer by double digits just seen the 2nd half of that game. And Belfry beat Herritage by 20 some. They had a 30 point lead before putting subs in. What did everyone there think about the gym? I thought it was a nice place to watch a game.

Yeah Belfry does reload but they return quiet a bit of talent this comming year. Belfry has alot of depth for a 2a school also that helps them. Then great coaching I mean Hawood is one of the best. 2a I look for the top 2 teams in region 4 to be Belfry and Middlesboro but I will give the edge to Belfry. Also they will have to come through Belfry for region because its our district turn to host. But never count out teams like P'burg also Sheldon Clark will be good they loose the line but Dials is a good back. What will Breathitt have will they put their name at the top again this year?

Also Belfry beat PCC and lost to Letcher Central. You cant really compare head to head and all that though. Belfry beat PCC on a nautral court and lost to LCC on LCC's home court. Belfry and PCC plays tongiht in the championship of the Smokey Mountain Holiday Tournament

Dont forget about Belfrys guards neither. Matt Maynard or Jamie Case both are great at PG. They both have good shots and can beat about any press you throw at them. They are both very athletic and good guards.

I think Pikeville was to tricky and didnt just line up and play football last year. I also feel that a system wother than wing T would have showed their atheletes off better such as Huffman and Robinson. I think they would have been more suited to open it up a little bit. Chase seemed to struggle grasping the wing-T also it is a very complex offense. As far as the matchups goes HC should loose a bit but still they are just huge. Belfry and NCC that will be a game I believe Belfry will be pretty good next year.

Yeah my sister was holding the hoop and she told me they were getting cussed pretty bad. They told them to get off the field and stuff like that. It was just a mistake made honestly by Belfrys cheerleaders I realized it was a mistake when I seen them line up there but they didnt know. Im sure most Russell fans and players knows it was just an honest mistake. Once again good luck in State. :thumb:

That is good to hear because we had them last year and they liked to throw throw and then throw. I hear they are a little more diverce this year but I got a feeling they will try to throw alot. Good luck though hope ya guys pull out a win.

Even Russell fans said it was a mistake and Belfry moved as soon as they realised what happened and the coach asked them to. Nobody from Russell will question Belfrys class I guarantee it. Also once again Belfry wasnt going to no softball field Coach Haywood warms up for his own senior night during the festivities so why would he do different for Valley? But that isnt the subject of the thread. To the one who said Rusell will change the defensive packagaes for the state game. I sure hope so because I want to see you guys bring that tile back!

Yeah but the same mistakes Rusell made last year Belfry made this year. These two teams have been pretty closely matched both years. One thing Russell needs to improve on quick is pass defense. Belfry had alot of sucess passing with only sending one guy out. I look for OCath to look at the film and try to ari it out. YOu guys have some decent speed back there though so hoepfully you will be able to defend it better.

I dont really think the homefrield advantage was a big factor our guys just wasnt ready to play. Our crowd was huge and jsut as loud as Russell. Also Maynard was held in check but you have to give it to the kid he played so gutsy. He was hurt before the game even started, he even missed a practice or 2 this week and he still gave it his all and played as hard as possible. These two teams are pretty closely matched and they both just made alot of mistakes tongiht. But give credit to both defenses because they forced alot of those mistakes for both teams. Isnt it amazing of how momentum changes the game. One big play for Belfry and it turned everything around. I am upset we lost and feel we was a mistake away here and there from being back in Louisville. But Russell won it and played hard adn I really do wish them teh best next week.

First congrats to Rusell on the win you guys deserved it tonight but I wouldnt say you guys were 2 or 3 Tds better than our team we just about quit before halftime. We got down when we fumbled the kick. But Belfry showed what they were made of and dominated the second half especialy the 3rd quarter. I know mistakes hurt Rusell but they did Belfry also. Belfry jumped offsides on one touchdwon run and had an interception. They also made some costly mistakes up close whent hey were about to score. So lets not forget that is 2 Td that was costed by Belfry mistakes. But no team is perfect. These two teams are pretty eveanly matched. Another huge factor that not alot of people knew about was Matt Maynard played with a pulled groin. You have to give it up to him showed alot of heart and never give up. This Belfry team will be back next year and its at our place next year. Good luck to Rusell in Louisville hope you guys pull it out.

Im no coach or players so I really dont know but I look for the quick hitters to be Belfrys bread and butter this game. But whateveer is working is what Belfry will go with so who knows lol.

Belfry will suprise alot of fans Friday ngiht. I know this Russell is a good team but it will take a perfect game for them to beat Belfry. Belfry is ebtter on the lines than Russell and that will be the difference. Rusell will move the ball some on Belfry they have good misdirection this year and their QB impressed me with his speed. I just think if Belfry coems to play they are the better team this year. It will be close with Belfry pulling away with a late TD to make it 27 to 13 Belfry. Hope it is a cleanly played injury free game and goodluck to whoever wins in the state. Now lets go Pirates.

Belfry will win this cause they want it more. JK I cant stand hearing that this time of year. If either team dont want it thent hey deserve to loose lol but that wont be the case. Im just excited to get the game underway. They really arent much left to be said on the thread from either side. Its just a matter of who comes out and executes their game plan better and makes less mistakes. I really dont see homefield advantage because Belfry fans are louder on the road than at home. I dont see really any big advantages to neither side. It will be on ESPN classic Saturday that is how good of a game were gonna have.

I wouldnt roll my eyes or anything, I mean Russell won and he gave them respect. But it does sound like a game that they could have played 10 tiems and split 5 games to 5. Anytime a game goes to overtime the teams are matched evenly. And obviously both teams felt like they were better and deserved to win. But I wouldnt be upset cause you guys did win and moved on. It must have been a great ball game!
