  1. Rock scored first before Knox Central scored 47 unanswered points. Halftime lead was 40-7. Starters gave way to the reserves after scoring on the first series of second half. Sr. qb Devon Evans threw for 150 plus yards and three TDs.
  2. Not really. That's been their problem all season. It's one reason they've lost so many close games. I think Bell will win but it won't be blowout some are predicting.
  3. I think you're right. But because of this thread, the Herald-Leader story, and the regional papers, he's better known than he was.
  4. Apparently Coach Russell agrees with you. "When Russell watches Canady, he sees a great athlete (who's also run track, and played basketball and baseball at Knox Central).Russell thinks Canady would be a strong candidate for Mr. Football if not for higher-profile stars such as James Quick of Trinity, Ryan Timmons of Franklin County and Kyle Bolin of Lexington Catholic." 5. I recall back in 2003 when Knox Central was at their lowest in the process of an 0-10 season, I asked one of the seniors why he continued to put himself through the misery of it all. Why not just quit like so many of his teammates had? I'll never forget what he told me. "I stay for the guy who lines up beside me. As long as I have one teammate who stays, I've got his back." Many people disrespect a losing football team. I have all the respect in the world for those who tough it out. It's the main reason I'm so against running up the score on weak opponents. In many cases those kids work just as hard as anyone but lose because of weaknesses inside the program.
  6. Corbin may be one of the most snakebitten teams I've ever seen. It's as if they can play with almost anyone yet can beat almost no one. They are just a hair from being unbeaten and a hair from being winless.
  7. Or Knox Central? Good win for JC.
  8. Tonight the longest of them all, 36 by Knott County, has ended with a 28-21 victory over Jenkins. Congrats Knott! Now start a win streak.
  9. I love that pic. The fog of war.....
  10. Beating Rockcastle is always an accomplishment.
  11. The streak ends at 36 games! Congratulations Knott County!:dancingpa:clap:
  12. Rockcastle unfortunately is not the Rock of old. However, they play a tough schedule and are in a tough district.
  13. Once again a team loads up to stop Canady and once again the others come through. Johnathon (The G Man) Gist unofficially 138 yards and 3 tds, several long runs by Devon Evans along with a td pass to Matthew Barger who left the game with what we hope is a minor knee injury. Canady also had a td. Clay kept it close for awhile. KC led 14-0 at the half and Clay scored on the opening drive of the 3rd quarter to pull within 14-6. After that it was all KC in the rain capped off by a late JV touchdown. Knox continues to stretch their personal best season opening win streak to 7-0.
  14. Wayne Co. has a fine team. Corbin had their chances but couldn't pull it off.
  15. Corbin is better than their record but I'm not sure good enough to win this one.
  16. There you go......:thumb: A little drum beating goes a long way sometimes.
  17. Thanks, I know you've seen him live. As I said, consideration is good enough for me. The young man needs a little publicity.
  18. I noticed that when I looked up his stats. Very, very impressive.
  19. Would it have helped if I had left out the word "serious" from the thread title? I just think the kid is worthy of being looked at and talked about.
  20. Once again, drum beating noted and appreciated. :thumb:
  21. So he's just a little too Appalachian American for this board, I guess. Really, probably the thing that hurts him most publicity wise, is that there's no stat padding with this kid. He's in a good backfield and often used as a decoy. When the game is in hand, he's on the sidelines. I like that.
