  1. OK, here's what I've determined. Jimmy Voight is the new coach at Pulaski County and was the subject of the article I posted earlier. His son James is the new HC at Knox Central and was, as Jokerswild said, coach of the New Mexico 2A State Champions last season.
  2. Beats me. Well traveled. May have coached Whitley County at one time. Hopefully someone will fill in the blanks for us soon.
  3. Odd, but my source said he was from Pulaski County area. I found an online article about a new coach that PC hired in May. Surely he wouldn't leave for the KC job this quickly. Appears to be highly qualified. Jimmy Voight named Pulaski basketball coach » News Live » Commonwealth Journal
  4. I don't follow H.S. basketball much so I'm not familiar with the name, but a very reliable source just told me they've hired a coach named Voight? Sound familiar?
  5. OK, I'll withdraw the adjective "courageous" and replace it with "fine". I just thought that with all the grumbling I'd been hearing from some of Corbin's fans, it would have been tempting for Coach Jewell to try to schedule some bunnies to improve the ol' win column.k
  6. My gripe was always Corbin's weak district. However, the last redistricting has more than solved that issue.
  7. I don't think I can agree with your rankings but it doesn't matter. The good news is that most of this will work itself out on the field head to head with the exception of Williamsburg.
  8. Danville is always tough. While I'm not sure what they bring to the table this season, both Perry Central and Southwestern are 5A and are capable of some pretty good seasons. Combine those with KC and a district schedule that includes Bell and Wayne, I'd call that a competitive schedule.
  9. Coach Jewell certainly isn't trying to boost his win total by scheduling lightly, is he? I applaud his courage. You mentioned replacing both Jewells. I don't recall either being a senior.
  10. Fine job as usual, Les. This is a fun schedule. After game 2, it's just one rivalry game after another. The return of old rivals Bell, Whitley, Corbin, and Southwestern added to Harlan Co. and the district games guarantee an exciting season. High risk, high reward. No question that the Panthers will be battle tested come playoff time.
  11. Well, then, hey, next Friday I"m a Boyle fan! Send me the cap.
  12. There's no magic on Log Mountain, just a good football team that resides there. I'll go with Bell one more game.
  13. I was hoping y'all had some deep insight that I had missed.
  14. Kentucky Class 4A Football Rankings 1. Highlands vs. Boyd County 2. Covington Catholic vs. Rowan County (11/3) 3. Lexington Catholic vs. Rockcastle County 4. Boyle County vs. Clay County 5. Russell County vs. Marion County 6. Ashland vs. Holmes 7. Knox Central vs. Mercer County 8. Johnson Central vs. Harrison County 9. Lone Oak vs. Franklin-Simpson 10. Warren East vs. Calloway County In fact, according to your latest rankings, KC would be your last choice for regional champ. While I appreciate the vote of confidence, it is puzzling.
  15. Interesting. Lex Cath and sometimes Boyle have been ranked above Knox Central and Russell County almost all of the season. Yet the preview predicts KC and RC to meet in the regional finals with KC winning. Odd...... Care to discuss the thinking on this?
  16. Knox Central @ Lexington Catholic looks like fun......
  17. I think special teams are the difference in KC being a great team or just a very good team. PATs are very iffy, kickoffs usually result in the opposition having great field position and puts a strain on the defense. Still, like DaChamp, I'm a homer and I'll go with the Panthers 30-28.
  18. Nice action shot! You need to post those in the game thread.
  19. It wouldn't be my choice to fire him, but I'd been hearing those same grumblings.
  20. Lexington Catholic. Playing at their house.
  21. I've been wondering about that myself. Coach Jewell is a good coach but Corbin doesn't tolerate losing very well.
  22. Not a great season for the Campers but an improvement.
  23. Good job, Mountain Lions!
  24. Radio crew and the tv crew stats don't match so those are unofficial.
