  1. We've only played 3 games at home this season but we started a soccer program this year and that's been hard on the field. I think we'll be seeing turf in the next couple of years. Yes, I believe it was a Mr. Evans. Business was there for many years. It's a pawn shop now.
  2. Joking aside, if it doesn't rain the field will be fine. Not pretty, but fine. It's Bermuda with a sand base. Outside the hash marks it just brown. Between marks it's getting pretty bare. If it rains, it'll be muddy. Overall, it's better than what we played on in my day.
  3. Will field conditions really make that much difference? Because I ain't too proud to sneak up there tonight and turn on the sprinklers for awhile. :sssh::lol2: I mean, if y'all think it will give us a shot.
  4. Ghosts of seasons past. Dudley Hilton and Cotton Adams on the sideline opposite the Panthers
  5. I almost feel obligated to lose so you guys can settle this.:lol2:
  6. Yeah, it's a Bermuda field and they just don't recover this time of year. Union has turf.
  7. Taylor County vs Knox Central @ Union College. Looking forward to watching them play in a different stadium without having to leave town. I'm expecting parking to be a problem though.
  8. This is not one of KC's best teams. Still, they're very physical and have a very good defense. I would not want to put money on a "running clock".
  9. Not well enough to build a gameplan around but not so bad that it can be ignored.
  10. I think that's the plan. Of course, Union would have the final say.
  11. Some say this is KC's first ever district title, some say they won a tiebreaker sometime in the mid 70's. Either way, it's been a long, long time coming. Congrats to the Panthers.
  12. Until I find a tape that actually shows what happened, I'm trying to stay objective. I will point out the play in question occurs on that last play shown but out of camera range. I've talked to several people including Barger but until I see proof I plan to keep my opinion to myself.
  13. It's a small weekly paper useful for reading obituaries, festival dates and updates on Miss Irma's garden. To declare them as "homers" is about as profound as stating the sky is blue. Several years ago one of their oft changed sports reporters penned an article encouraging everyone to come out and support the Panthers Friday night as they played Open.
  14. Let me know if you can actually see what happened. Everyone I've spoken with says it occurred too far downfield to be seen.
  15. I see no way this young man could prove, or even form an opinion, about a bounty without actually hearing a coach say it. I would think that an impossibility from the stands.
  16. This. Not that it matters.
  17. Until I can speak with those involved my only comments are that for 3 quarters this was a classic, like watching two heavyweight fighters go toe to toe. It's a shame it deteriorated into what it became after the Barger injury. I was at the game but like most others, my eyes were fixed on the play at the line of scrimmage and Barger's injury happened some fifteen yards downfield. I hope the game film was shot at a wide enough angle to show what really happened and we can put all the accusations and speculation behind us. I will say that someone needs to closely evaluate this officiating crew. I've seen them many times and some degree of what occurred last night is not uncommon at all.
  18. 6:30 to go. Long walk to the car. I'm outta here. This one will get discussed I'm sure.
  19. Kelly is the white hat. Usually fair.
  20. Bell scores. It rained flags on that drive. May have been deserved, but probably 60 yards in penalties on that drive. Bell 7-0.
  21. Penalties and a few short runs have moved Bell into scoring position. I am not having fun.
  22. Play has resumed. Security called to the field. A lot of hard hitting and flags are flying.
